Well my bum's not too sore- and I can still type after drinking for 7 hours!
-
I stand corrected!

Just want to take time to wish everybody on this forum Happy New Year!! I'm off to get lashed now! Guy

Just been rereading the whole thread- after all these worries has anyone on a Guzzi actually crashed because of slippery new tyres? I know many many Guzzi riders and have never heard of one instance. I know from my days riding powerful fours that you get more wheelspin on a four than a Guzzi which tends to just dig in once you give it a handful- I know we are not infallible when it comes to crashing but are we getting a bit paranoid here? What about "copaslip" washed down from the callipers by brake cleaner At least your tyres won't rust!
-
Maybe I'm just used to greasy roads anyway- always rains or snows here in the winter and there is loads of crap around like diesel and wet leaves- I broke my new Diablo Corsas in during a wet ride over the Peak District with no problems at all. I still have half an inch of chicken strip left after 150 miles- I shall fry these once the weather gets better! Guy

Errrrmm isn't it easier to just ride the thing? Guy

Hmm not sure Martin- just zoomed in on it and its too blurred. I'm no twitcher so I am guessing its an eagle of some sort. Saw plenty of large eagles in the Black Forest last year- an impressive sight. Last year I was walking a few miles away from Malham Tarn and there were three guys, each with a massive Golden Eagle on their arm and they were hunting rabbits with them. If you like birds of prey, if you are ever on the A303 near Thruxton race cicuit there is a bird sanctuary where once a day at teatime, they drive the birds about 3 miles away then release them. You sit on a bench on top of a hill and they are trained to swoop inches above your head- the most impressive bird being a South American Condor with an eight foot wing span that left a big breeze after it flew over your head. Also saw a fight between a wild local buzzard and an eagle from the sanctuary- and the buzzard won. Guy

If you are spending some time in Luzern, get the steepest train in the world up Mount Pilatus, get the cable car down half way, stop for beer and sausage then carry on down again. Attached view from top of Mt Pilatus looking down on Luzern from a photo I took last November 2004. Guy

You mean you would prefer a more natural, earthy odour eminating from their bottoms??? Guy

Welcome and congratulations on your new bike- nice wife!! Guy

The wheelies are accidental of course! I have ridden my neighbours GSXR600 and it is quite fast but very uncomfortable- the bars are a lot lower than the R6 and your bum is higher in the air. The front end does not seem as good as the R6 but it looks very nice with polished wheels. I find 600s like too much hard work- very quick but the real power does not kick in on the R6 until 12000 revs then it goes mental- if was ever to go back to riding fours regularly (unlikely as I love twins) then it would have to be a bigger motor with more torque. Helen keeps talking about selling the R6 as she now has a V11 but she has had such good times on it, it now has sentimental value and she can't part with it Guy

It is light, flickable, revvy, fast and pulls wheelies in the first 3 gears I am too used to riding slow Guzzi tractors! Guy
-
I've been riding for Guzzis for so long that I notice nothing- it all seems natural. What is weird is when I take the R6 out for a ride- all that speed and handling seems unnatural and the gyroscopic effect is in my brain which can't cope with the pace! Guy

Nogbad will be disappointed- he was looking forward to smelling your seat in return for being made a Gold Member. Guy

I have broken in dozens of new tyres over the years and have never had a problem- it just takes a little care for 100 miles, gradually increasing your lean angle then you will be fine. I did see a prat once on a GSXR750 who had 2 new tyres fitted by the dealer who warned him to take it easy- so he dumped the clutch leaving the shop and ended up big time on his arse with a written off bike. And he gets his trike put on van for the journey and only gets it out on location- big girl's blouse that he is. Guy

Its easy from what I can remember: Make sure your ignition is off and the key in your pocket Remove drivers seat Peel back sticker on black box that says do not remove- you can reseal this afterwards Take off cover from the top of black box Remove old chip carefully- you may need a chip puller but you can probably do without Make sure legs are nice and straight on new chip Carefully fit new chip in the holes left by the old one If you are fitting a WPC12 Creedon chip (which used to be the best for the Corsa- was for me anyway) use a screwdriver to adjust the mixture screw which is on the same circuit board (if I remember correctly) to its richest setting. Put the cover back on Reseal the sticker Put the seat back on Ride and enjoy Guy

Nothing has pissed me off today- I have been tinkering with the bikes and cleaned out the garage, done some monkey training and am a happy bunny. Guy

40mm forks re-sprung -- huge improvement
Guzzirider replied to beauchemin's topic in Technical Topics
Nogbad If I remember correctly Big J had his 40mm forks sorted at Maxton suspension in Cheshire- they will modify them for real road riding if you wish and carefully set them up based upon your personal requirements. Probably worth a try if you want to sort yours out- I am considering doing the same with Helen's 40mm forks. They will also do you a rear shock if you wish, although I am not sure if it will come with a remote preload adjuster like the aftermarket Ohlins. Here is their website. http://www.esling.btinternet.co.uk/maxton/ Guy -
Maybe the special edition Tenni came with a 6000 mile back, sack and crack wax for the rider whilst the warranty was in force. This would reduce the risk of burnt hair when the clutch eventually explodes and reducing the chaffing on that brown seat. I am yet to see a Tenni rider in a leather cap and chaps but maybe they only come out at night! Guy

You need help mate- a ladies bottom (preferably the front one) is fine to sniff but a big hairy man's bottom should only be sniffed by big moustached BMW riders who like the sight of 2 naked men wrestling!

Welcome back Jock- may see you at Scottish Rally first May Bank Holiday at Traquair House if you are about. Guy

Living only an hour from the Hull ferry I would normally catch this one but I could stay overnight at my Mum's in Bishops Waltham which is only 20 mins from the Pompey ferry. Will have to wait until I return to work in Feb to make sure I can have time off but I am up for it- will probably camp at Mennis. Guy
