  1. There was no way Rossi was going to settle for second- win or bin!!! Gibernau was not happy. Did you also see the British Supersport at Thruxton later? Rob Frost got knocked off by a rookie who ran over to check if Rob was ok lying on the ground. Rob then started kicking him from the floor, got up, punched him a few times and knocked a marshall over, before collapsing on the deck again. Everyone is taking this racing lark quite seriously! Guy
  2. The untalented Japanese wife of a famous Beatle.
  3. I had a custom made cable made and that broke in 100 miles. The solution for me was to retro fit the speedo cable and drive from a pre 2002 V11. This has worked and has proved reliable. Guzzi changed to this crap option in 2002 to save money but it has backfired. In the end I went through 3 cables before I got one that lasted- I did a complete lap of the Irish coast, toured Wales, Scotland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Austria and Germany all with no working speedo so I have a low mileage 1900 mile bike!!!! Guy
  4. Congratulations and welcome to the fold! Those 2 weeks are going to drag on a long time! Guy
  5. Well those dodgy submarines we flogged 'em will be no good in putting up a defence! Guy
  6. And to think all these posts have stemmed from a picture of David Hasslehoff with devils horns superimposed! He truly is the architect of chaos!!!!! Guy
  7. Didn't the Sioux have a good go as well? Although they would argue it was their soil!!
  8. Try Carol Nash next time- I am in a higher risk post code area, 2 speeding fines and am 37 and I pay a similar premium for both my bikes combined. They do not mind about exhasuts and stuff either when you mention it. Guy
  9. I think I may have found a potential buyer.
  10. On the face of it it looks like a reasonable deal. I am not sure of the price of a brand new motor but last time I heard a quote it was well over a £1000. In fact, I have seen used motors advertised for well over a grand. It would be worth having a chat with the seller- ask him where he got it from, how has it been stored etc. One thought- looking at the engine paint makes me think that this motor was made at least 4 years ago- I think I am right in saying that Guzzi stopped using that grey paint in 2001 so even though he says it is new, it may have been made a while back. He probably bought it to power a kit car project- probably a JZR or Triking. Guzzi engines are very popular to these guys. Probably best to have a chat with hime but as usual buyer beware! Regards Guy
  11. Confuse them and tell 'em it is a 70s bike!
  12. Most of the British riders on this forum have modified bikes- in fact if you go to a Guzzi rally like the V Twin, standard unmodified Guzzis are as rare as rocking horse poo. Just do it!! Guy

  14. And thanks to you I got into V11s! Sitting on your V11 Le Mans after doing my neck in on my uncomfortable 1100 Sport Corsa made me want one! You must now full accept responsibility for my credit card bill!!! Guy
  15. I just say it has aftermarket silencers and air filter- still makes less than the 90bhp Guzzi claim so it hasnt enhanced performance!
  16. Its the motor that swung it for her. She had been riding a Le Mans V since August and had got used to the torque of a twin. I got her R6 back on the road last week and she took it out and realised it was not what she wanted in terms of long journeys and touring- feeling the extra torque of a V11 sealed it. I have always been careful not to preach that she should ride Guzzis instead of Yamahas but she has come to the right conclusion herself. Incidentally, in this months Bike magazine they retuned an R6 for less power but more torque and got 20 riders to ride it together with a standard more powerful R6 and decide their favourite. Guess what? Without realising that the detuned bike actually made less power, 18 out of 20 riders said they preferred it and thought it made more power and was faster. They are finding out what most of us here have known for a long time! Guy
  17. Cheers Dave Luckily Helen does not have a problem as she is 5ft 8 but she won't ride my Jackal cos she does not like cruisers! Your wife does well to ride your bikes! Regards Guy
  18. I went out for a ride with my girlfriend Helen last Saturday- she was riding her R6 and I was riding my Rosso Corsa. After a few miles she stopped and asked if we could swap bikes- a few miles later and she had made her mind she wanted a V11 herself. Well you can't blame her can you? After a week of searching, we have found a 2003 registered V11 Sport in Leeds and yes, Helen has just bought it so we will now have 2 V11s in the garage! It has a maroon tank, silver tailpiece and has only done 2000 miles. She is not worried (yet) about putting on loud pipes, cross over etc but I may have to secretly do that when she is not looking She will be riding it to Boxmeer with me in June. Now to surf the net to find the best price for a techno bags and a luggage rack! Guy
  19. Its pretty simple, new ones are still available for £16000, maybe less if you want to haggle. While this is the case, I can't see anyone paying £15000 for a used one.
  20. That is if he sells it! No interest yet on EBAY. The dealers are selling brand new ones for £1000 more than the Buy It Now price he is quoting. Bearing in mind his has already been raced, and had 2 owners he should expect to get less than the price he is after. Guy
  21. The seller has told me that he races against the guy who bought it new, who is the manager of M & S Motorcycles in Newcastle. He raced against the bike at Croft circuit a few weeks back and, as the story goes, agreed to buy the bike and from the original owner and pick it up next Monday. Apparently he recently got a head injury from a racing accident and has decided to sell the bike on once again, before he has even picked it up. Guy
  22. Maybe that guy in Newcastle could offer the company on EBAY.
  23. Pic has now changed.
  24. Some great pics Paul. Do you know whether a similar event will be run next spring? If so, I will be interested in making the long trip south if anyone can join in. Were all the safety briefings in German? Guy
  25. How was the rider of the crashed bike, Jaap?
