Thanks - turns out Guzzirider lives near me as well, so I've sent him a message to say I'll have it. Hope he reads it - I've just discovered I've got messages from years ago that I never read! So apologies to anyone whose PM'd me and never got a reply. Seen ya message- and yes its yours if you want it! Cheers Guy

John at the Tank Shop will basically build whatever you want within reason, as long as you are patient. Aluminium is fragile, needs regular polishing (unless you like the dull grey look)but it very light and some may find the extra tank range of a larger tank useful- mine is approx 27 litres meaning I could squeeze 300 miles out of it. But the main reason for an alu tank is SHINY SHINY!!!

Yes we had some good times over the years but it was probably falling in love with my cafe racer that meant she was neglected. She needed a few jobs doing so it was a case of either spend money, mothball or sell so due to lack of use I decided to do the latter. We had did have some great times together:

Yes after 6 years of service I sold my V11 today. I had not used her since our trip to Ireland in May last year and she was sitting gathering dust. She has gone to a good home and I will occasionally miss her but no point owning a bike which you never ride. If I ever fancy riding a V11 I have Helen's bike in the garage. May replace the Rosso with a track bike in the Spring but am in no rush.

honda vfr1200,. Any thoughts?
Guzzirider replied to Bogwopit's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
If anyone does want a non-Guzzi sport tourer its worth considering a Sprint ST. Loads of character, lovely torquey triple cyclinder engine with plenty of poke and a lovely unique sound. Comfy, handles very well, lowish mass and reliable. Well specced out too- bought mine last year for £7500 new and that included panniers, gel seat, heated grips, naughty exhaust and alarm (which is crap). Tank range is 200 miles+ and its much cheaper than the Honda. The new GT version is a bit fugly- but you can still buy a new ST in the UK. -

Be careful with the fuel range. The husband if a work colleague just sold his VFR a few months after he bought it when he ran out of fuel at 120 miles. He wanted a fast tourer but felt constrained by the tiny tank range. -
Just saw the price- HOEVEEL?????? Its a nice bike- I think Jaap has posted pics of this one before and I like the green paint but for some reason it does not look at well finished as Jaap's.

You can email Micheli at Mistral- he speaks English and may even do you a special price! My link -
New EU plans for Super MOTS and roadside checks: http://www.mag-uk.org/en/newsdetail/a6774 I know many of us in the EU modify our Guzzis- do we really want to end up with a tougher testing regime? You can choose to either bend over, spread your cheeks wide and just take it, or if you care about motorcycling you can join MAG or BMF (or the similar riders rights organisation in your own country) and try and fight this sort of nonsense that threatens our favourite pursuit! Apathy in our worst enemy- strength in numbers gives us a fighting chance. Nobody else is fighting our cause! I have just completed the consultation document- be careful some of the questions are quite leading and want you to agree that super MOTs and extra roadside checks are a good thing. Only took 5 minutes.

Yes John at the Tank Shop has made one before for a V11- its on his website. If you want one it may be a long wait though because he has a massive order book. Tikkanen is thinking about using WBO in Germany to build him an alu tank for his V11- maybe if you join together you could get a discount!

We got back this morning and are both completely knackered after 12 nights of binge drinking. We had a great tour, and really enjoyed meeting up at La Chaussee with friends old and new. Too tired to think about next year but La Chaussee is a great venue for an annual meeting. -

Better bring that Cafe Racer, Mr. Lewis, or you'll get s#€% loads of stick from me! ;o) Looking forward to seeing you all in Sibbe and for the BBQ ) Cheers Søren Cafe racer is ready in the nick of time!! Phew!! I can now start packing as I am leaving this Thursday. Heard a whisper that someone may turn up in a car- hope you give them plenty of abuse Søren!!

Just stunning Jaap- you have done a brilliant job there. In fact yours looks much better than GBs own bike in their publicity photos. The lines are much cleaner without the Quat D, and your paint design is superb. Maybe you should be cheeky and see if they will pay you or give you some bits if you volunteer to let your bike be professionally photographed for the website / brochures.

Ummmm I think I may be on the Triumph- am stuggling to sort the front brakes on my cafe racer in time!

Wow Yaap, thats amazing....is there hope for my old girl when she gets too tired then! Hope you coming to Sibbe on it. Theres going to be a real range of special guzzis the way you are all going!! Hx PS THIS IS HELEN (Mrs Guzzirider)....I just noticed Guy been on my laptop so I'm now logged in as Guzzirider. Bah humbug....

Hmmm ((strokes chin)) maybe a 1225cc Daytona engine AND a GB kit....... just remembered I have no money! DAMN!

I've got a set of the new BT023s on my Sprint- much better than the old 020 or 021s- good grip and they are wearing very slowly. I think the truth is its pretty hard to find a BAD tyre these days.
-
That is MUCH lighter than stock- I think Mal had his V11 Le Mans weighed with fuel and oil at about 260kgs.
