  1. Just heard from Søren. He has already got through Denmark and Germany this morning, and is now in Holland! The mad bugger is riding from Birkerød to Huddersfield in one hit- 983 miles or 1582 kms in one hit- insane man. M25 in rush hour will be hell! Reckon he must be on a Hayabusa. BFG- is going the day before the only way you can ensure you dont turn up late by missing the ferry?
  2. So looks like we have 21 confirmed attendees plus some possible last minute arrivals. Weather forecast is for sunshine and showers. Remember it is Jaap's birthday on Friday! Cheers Guy
  3. Some 1200S owners swap the bars for either Aprilia Tuono or Mana items which give a better riding position. A couple of friends have 1200 Sports, and enjoy riding them. I think they look good, and are much better built than the V11. Don't believe the original Guzzi hype about it being a Sports bike with 105bhp- you are looking at about 77rwbhp. It is simply a better looking Breva- and none the worse for it.
  4. Not sure if it will smell of roses......
  5. Excellent news Bertie!!! The Ural would have made it but we would have taken the piss!! Søren- if you need somewhere to stay on the way up let me know- +44 7850 965944 Cheers Guy
  6. Very sad news. Helen and I send our condolences to his family. We will raise a toast to him at the V11 meeting in Ken Bridge next weekend, and spare him a few thoughts.
  7. Are you ok Antonio? Not too much damage?
  8. Is this how Antonio is going to end up?
  9. Hope you can make it!
  10. It is Mal who sometimes posts on here- the giant poster is on the wall outside the factory gates in Mandello. in real life Mal prefers licking ladies feet.
  11. With riding the Stelvio so much, I have forgotten about my special baby...isn't she looking nice?
  12. You wanted a man's arse Antonio.... Or maybe some man on man action?
  13. Rock & Blues cancelled
  14. [ That would excite all the Scura riders!
  15. Now up to 21 confirmed! A very multinational gathering: 9 English 5 Scots (including Magnus who reckons he is from Shetland but has a Leeds accent) 1 Dane 2 Dutch 2 Irish 1 German 1 Welsh
  16. Looking forward to my battered beer
  17. Anything at all- Mars Bars, Pizzas- you name it, they cover it in batter and fry it!
  18. The haze from the deep fat fryers stops the satellite zooming in.
  19. Thanks Gary Yes it was. Luckily he was only doing about 20mph when he went down on an infamous corner over Buckstones Edge. He is completely gutted about his bike- was TPFT insured too.
  20. Thanks! List updated- now up to 20 confirmed attendees!
  21. This book is worth a read- tells you more about the undercover operation, and has some good photos too: Angels Of Death. I can't help but think that the gangsters in Northern Ireland make the Angels seem like wusses!
  22. Unfortunately a friend crashed his CBR1000RR last night on the moors. Luckily for him, he has got away with a fractured bone in his foot and a few bumps and bruises. Just been round to look at the damage, and all the obvious damaged items like the fairing, footpegs, levers etc can be replaced or repaired. My worry is the beam frame- the bike went down on the left hand side and there is a mark and a slight indentation on the frame where it slid down the road and the fairing bashed into it. The bike seems straight enough, wheels and forks undamaged but my concern is the frame- is a small dent enough to make it structurally unsound? I am guessing if he took it to a Honda dealer they would say the frame needed replacing as a matter of course but I would appreciate the thoughts of anyone who has some experience in this matter. Cheers Guy
  23. Ok thanks Søren!! Are you going to do a Viking raid on The Tank Shop? Pillage all the tanks then head for home with the booty, to a heroes welcome??
  24. The good news is that in true Guzzi style the new motor gets even better with miles- I've only done 1300 miles on the Stelvio so far but she gets better with every ride. The motor is fine for pottering around or cruising, but when you want to get a fast lick on keep her above 5k and she takes off very well for a Guzzi. Pete- did you do your first service at 1000kms or did you wait until 1500kms as per the handbook? My local dealer was surprised to hear that the factory wanted it done at 1500kms, and did mine at the usual 1000kms. Guy
