  5. What a great bash- hope everyone got home safely. More pics when I get a chance!
  6. If it really is a cable to lock your helmet they would have been better off spending the money on giving you some proper tools.
  7. The 848 looks stunning in white.
  8. Would be nice to see a Guzzi sports bike but its not going to happen. Best buy a Ducati / Aprilia / Benelli / MV or Bimota if you want a very fast Italian bike.
  9. I've borrowed a Griso 8V for the day while my Stelvio is being serviced. Motor is louder than the Stelvio- more of a growl- I wonder if the Griso has a bigger airbox? Brakes are slightly better too, probably helped by the front forks which compress less than the longer travel Stelvio Marzocchis. Although it has a smaller front wheel, the Griso steers slower than the Stelvio, and has a less sporty feel to the handling. To be fair, the rear pre-load seems too low for my 15 stone so increasing it may help the bike feel sharper but I am not going to fiddle with a loan bike. Gearbox and motors seem very similar- maybe the Griso is ever so slightly quicker but you can't tell a big difference- in a drag race rider skill would count more than the power outputs. Comfort is where the Stelvio wins hands down, comfier seat, much more leg room and less weight on the bars than the Griso. Wind protection is obviously better too. I much preferred the Griso 8V riding position to the old 1100 for some reason- maybe it is the narrower bars. Both are good bikes- depends on what you want from them as to which one is best!
  10. A friend of mine is a fleet manager for a fuel tanker firm. She says there is plenty of fuel- it is just the panic buying that is causing the shortages. Hopefully all the fuss will be over by May 16th.
  11. If you use your left if feels like someone else is doing it for you!
  12. Oh dear! Hope you get it sorted ok!
  13. Cool! Not sure about the Stelvio- depends if panniers arrive next week as promised- may take the V11 if I need to.

  15. Sorry to see what happened but glad you are ok- bikes can be replaced!
  16. With the strength of the Euro anything bought from Italy is now very expensive- and it makes these lovely wheels even more out of reach!
  17. I am guessing it is a Baglux tank cover.
  18. Well if you want a sporty ride from the current Guzzi range consider the Stelvio- I bought mine as a tourer but I have been very impressed by the speed and handling. Yes you can potter about in cruise mode but when you get on some fast twisties it feels like a giant supermoto, steering is very sweet and goes very fast (for a Guzzi) as you wind it on. In fact it is a bike you must respect when giving her a handful of revs because you know the front end will rise- you can feel it- very un-Guzzi like. Its taken me a few weeks to get used to her but now we have bonded and are in love. I can't imagine whatever sports bike Guzzi bringing out being much faster on real roads unless they give it a tuned version of the new motor or save a shedload of weight. Sounds ace with the Mistral can too.
  19. It's happened to me twice last summer while touring Europe- first time was ascending the Stelvio Pass up the hard way, I got stuck in gear halfway up. When I got to the top, I stopped to take a look, could see no obvious external problems, and when it started snowing thought it best to get down the other side and check it out in Bormio, but after 10 minutes of rest, the gearbox suddenly worked again. I had the bike checked out in Agostinis but the mechanic could find nowt wrong with it. On the way home, after being stuck in a very hot traffic jam in Zurich city centre it happen again. Stopped by the roadside to let it cool down- and 10 mins later she was fine. I am wondering whether it was something to do with hydaulics- have not changed the fluid for a while.
  20. I watched a bit on TV earlier- looked sunny in Le Mans. BSB at Thruxton on Eurosport 2 was much more exciting- race 2 starts in 20 mins.
