I've heard nothing but good reports about these guys in Lichfield. NBS servicing The motor on Helen's bike is well tatty with the paint peeling away and the odd minor oil leak but we are just going to leave it until it needs something major done before we can be bothered to sort it out properly- its been like that for 2 years now with no problems. Please put me down to sleep with Helen- we both snore when we are drunk so its best for all of us! Guy

Tonti related question- can I dump the fork brace?
Guzzirider replied to Guzzirider's topic in Older models
My forks are being rebuilt to fast / race spec by Maxton engineering so I won't need Ohlins -
Tonti related question- can I dump the fork brace?
Guzzirider replied to Guzzirider's topic in Older models
As standard, she had just one front disc which maybe explains the brace. But she now has twin brembos seperate from the rear. You are welcome to have my brace for free Keith! Guy -
There must be plenty of the old style 4 valve motors available- there are more MGS01s available in dealers now than ever- my local dealer has 2 new ones in stock. I believe they are built in batches of 10 when there are enough orders.

Great picture! How did she sound?

Tonti related question- can I dump the fork brace?
Guzzirider replied to Guzzirider's topic in Older models
Thanks! I was thinking the same- the LMV has one, but the 1000S does not! Cheers Guy -
On the standard overweight ugly front mudguard (aka fender for you yankee doodle dandys) on my Jackal there is a heavy brace, which is attached onto the forks by 4 bolts. I presumed this was designed to reduce fork flex. Its heavy and its ugly and I am thinking of dumping it when I get my new alloy front mudguard built. I think several other Tonti models have this kind of brace bolted to their mudguard and forks. Has anyone else dumped it, and if so did you notice any difference? Cheers Guy

Looks very nice- but I wonder how many people will be brave enough to buy a weird French bike?

I took this pic of the V7 racer while visiting June And on the V11 theme, this Coppa Italia looks like it was raced in the Coppa Italia. Note the airbox snorkels and oil catch tray. I'm fortunate enough to have been to the factory 4 times now and will never get bored of going back again. Guy

That's a shame Keith- I know how much you would have enjoyed tearing it up around Cadwell!

Nice bike and a great pic with the Brooklyn bridge in the background

That's the beauty of using a Jackal motor- I don't need to throw a lot of money at it as she already makes a few more ponies (and I am sure more torque) over the most powerful Le Mans motor- the Mark IV / V. Plan is to sort out the rolling chassis first then see how she rides. Hopefully the extreme weight loss will make her seem a bit more sprightly, although she was not exactly a slouch in standard form. If I am happy with the way she goes, then I will leave the motor- but I'm not ruling out some changes if I need to. At the very least I will get the ECU reflashed with an Ultimap download like I did on my V11, and get her set up on HTM's dyno. Good news is the Tank Shop are able to fabricate the tank, seat units, panels and mudguards by early October. Maxton have confirmed they can convert the forks, and my Tarozzi rear sets should arrive today. In the meantime, I am going to start stripping the paint off the valve covers and polish them on the bench and start looking for some nice adjustable clip ons and headlight brackets. A mate has kindly agreed to give me the alloy alternator cover that he is currently using as an ash tray! That EBAY bike that Doug posted looks good- the builder has obviously modded the swinging arm to allow wider rims and modern tyre fitment. My plan is to keep to the standard widths (140 rear, 110 front) but fit alloy rims, and at the same time increasing the rear from a 17inch to an 18inch to give it that classic Tonti handling and raise the rear of the bike. Fun, fun fun Guy

A very happy couple!

Terrible for those who died and for those who have lost a loved one- but a miracle that nobody else was killed.

I rode one for 5 years- I was silly to sell it! They sell for a lot more than the LMV which is basically the same bike with more "modern" cycle parts. A good 1000S will fetch about £3500- a LMV about £2500. The earlier models with the 40mm delortos and big valves are more sought after than the later girly versions with 38mm carbs and the SP111 engine. Guy

Nice one! See you there

There is a track day being held at Cadwell Park on Monday 13th August. There will be at least 6 Guzzis there inculding Gyles Fairclough on his Daytona Racer, the Raceco Guzzi and an MGS01. Day is organised by Hottrax and costs £99. I have booked myself in the Academy group as I want to have some extra tuition to help improve my track riding. Gyles is racing in Thunderbikes at the same track that weekend, and staying on for the track day, and there will be a group of us camping there for most of the weekend supporting him and drinking the free beer provided by his sponsor. Anyone else up for it? Keith? Guy

Hi Fergal Glad you had a great time in Inchigeelagh- I loved riding around the Beare Peninsular last year in the blazing sunshine. Basically last year,on the last night some lads from somewhere in the north of Ireland were having a good time, drinking beer and singing songs. Nothing wrong with that- we all do that- but as time was moving well into the early hours of the morning they got louder so one of the ladies camping asked them very politely if they would mind moving a bit further down away from the tents- and she was told to "@#!#$# off back to your own country, you English so and so. We spent hundreds of years getting rid of you and you are not welcome etc...." Actually the poor girl was Austrian, but obviously the abuse was totally out of order- and this was so loud all the campers, many of whom were wide awake heard this exchange. Then later on, some lads were walking around the campsite, goading people to come out of their tents for a fight, and threatening to kick the bikes over- they left after nobody sunk to their challenge and kicked over the wheelie bins- rock and roll! It left a bit of a bad taste after a great weekend of nice rides, good company and great riding. Normally bike rallies bond people together, and I fully appreciate this was an isolated incident caused by a minority of idiots who could not take their beer, and full credit to all the other campers who showed remarkable restraint. I've always enjoyed good hospitality and excellent company in Ireland and I am sure I could go back another twenty times and this would never happen again. The individuals concerned were later identified and I believe the main protaganist wrote a letter of apology to the Guzzi Club GB- matter closed hopefully. Guy

Think its slung underneath.

Wow thats nice!! I probably won't do an open frame as all the fuel injection gubbins, relays and ECU are situated behind the side panels. I could relocate it all but may be a ball ache on an injected bike! Guy

Sounds great- please post a photo when its done! Guy

Its a nice bike but I will be going for a more classic look- there are a few other nice Cali based cafe racers on the Guzzitech site but I want to go my own way. It will be closer in spirit to this nice LM111 cafe racer- but with hopefully better handling, braking and tons more grunt.
