Do you mean the starter solenoid? It is attached to the top of the starter motor which is situated on the lower left hand side of the bike to the rear of your gearchange lever. It may be hidden behind a plastic cover. If you suspect it is sticking, try tapping it with a bit of wood to wake it up. Guy

Thankfully Guzzi riders will never be seen as "with it"- at least not in this country- I actually enjoy the tractor jokes. I think the "with it" bike in the UK at the moment is the BMW GS- you see millions of the buggers being ridden around equipped with crashbars and equipment for a round the world trip, but in reality the fat bloke riding it is popping 2 miles to Marks & Spencers. And if it has done 5000 miles the chances are that any teething problems will have been sorted by now. You know it has been looked after by your mate and it is cheap- what more do you want?! Go for it!

The Pratt and Lay shield hugger arrived last week and I have just fitted it which took about 10 minutes- it attaches to various parts of the frame using tough pop on fasteners and 2 cable ties. Looks much smarter and smaller than the standard plastic monstrosity. The shield is made of tough rubber, rather like a mudflap for a car. I guess the really the important factor is does it work? I'll let you know after a ride in the rain. If it does work ok, then pretty good value for just under £40. Guy

Well she is not anywhere near as sexy looking as some of the Tonti cafe racers shown in this thread, but she is a good ride and I love her! Bought her new in 2001, rode her a lot for a few years including a trip to Mandello and to Spain, then sold her 18 months ago to a family member. Bought her back last Friday. On the face of it, not as "sporty" as my V11, but in real terms is nearly as fast. I am running lidless airbox with K and N, plus Mistral crossover. I have added the extra front disc (same Brembos as V11), got the seat rebuilt for extra comfort, and this afternoon fitted fully adjustable Hagon Nitro shocks which will I am sure be much better than the standard crappy Sachs. Good to have a Tonti in the garage again. Guy

I see Jezza is already crocked, riding with a broken femur in his left leg, damaged fingers and a fractured collarbone. Makes me sick to see overpaid girlie soccer players rolling around on the floor in fake agony after they have been tackled, when bike racers just get on with it. Jezza is only able to move around the paddock on crutches, but still rides. I know he is last in the time sheets but only 2 secs adrift of his team mate. He won't give up, and will try and ride the wheels off the Ilmor to make up for the deficiencies of the bike. A big girl's blouse Guy

Here is something a bit cheaper for you Tenni fans Tenni item for sale One thing I have wondered, while we are on the subject, is why the example of a Tenni in the Mandello factory museum has Ohlins suspension but the customer version has black Marzocchis? Anyone know the answer- was this bike special in some way? It has a map drawn on the tailpiece- maybe it was entered into some sort of competition. Guy

Chris There are a group of us in Europe mainly on Guzzis doing Hull to Zeebrugge on 1st June and returning on 17th June. We will head for the alps I am sure- please feel free to meet up with us at whatever campsite we are staying at. Regards Guy

I think it is a standard black Le Mans. It may not be an intentional effort to deceive by the seller- my Rosso Corsa is listed as a Tenni on the V5 document- as are all V11 Le Mans I believe, whether they are a Tenni or not. DVLA can't cope with all the V11 designations! If the seller is not an expert on the V11 range then he may have simply got the name from the registration document. Will probably go for way more than it is worth- a reasonable Le Mans of that age in decent nick would go for about £3k on EBAY, but people tend to go silly and pay over the odds sometimes with damaged bikes like this one.
