  2. I hope that whatever new bikes are launched this autumn they are a bit more interesting than this thing. If it is real, where does it fit in the range? Why this and not a Breva? Gut feeling tells me there will be no real sports bike revealed, despite all the rumours. There is a war going on at the moment between the 2 major European bike shows in Koln and Milan. Ducati have apparently decided to launch their new models in Koln in October rather than waiting for the Milan show in November. I suspect any new Guzzi stuff wil be revealed at Milan. Guy

    Hmmmmm who knows. The best idea is probably not to crash at all, or if anyone is really worried about it then buy a Volvo. I hold my hand up to riding without a lid in the USA- its just one of those holiday things like when you go to Amsterdam, you smoke dope because it is decriminalised, or if you go to Thailand you have to... well you know. So when I went to Arizona I just had to ride without a lid purely because I was allowed to, and its something I can't do at home. The silly thing was that I took it off just before the crappiest road ever with loads of bends covered in loose stones and gravel, and I rode as carefully as I ever have done in my life because I felt really exposed. Now I am back in Blighty I am Mr Safety again. Guy
  4. Well its been a right pain- its a beautiful piece of metal and weighs much less than the standard pipe but as usual with these things its not a case of a simple bolt on. I've got it on there eventually with the use of some additional spacers and using some of the original fixings, not the ones included with the Quat D. I'm still not 100% happy with the alignment of the dual Termis so will probably have to get some little brackets to make it look right. I'm also having to cut away a strip of carbon fibre from the belly pan (must remember not to breathe it in!) because that does not fit anymore. Sounds cataclysmic when revved hard- but still socially acceptable at low revs in town. Guy
  5. I will never use ear plugs on my bike- I like to hear everything around me and paid good money for my Mistrals and the last thing I want to do is blur them out. I always take ear plugs when I am camping though- handy if there are loud snorers or early starters camped near you. I use Motrax- 50 pairs for £10. Guy
  6. Look at his practice times. 12th place when he is racing against GSXR1000s, Fireblades and R1s on a circuit where a high top speed is vital. Pity his bike broke in the race.
  7. I'm going to stick my neck out and say Loris. He is only just off Rossi's pace and is now fitter again after his nasty injuries. Rossi will have to win at all costs if he has any chance of catching Nicky so he may well bin it. Nicky in second, and Kenny in third. I am probably horribly wrong and Rossi will just ride off into the distance... What is your top 3 prediction? Guy
  8. It was Carnells if I remember correctly- wot used to be Motorcycle City. Guzzis were obviously just a sideline for them as they concentrated on discounting Jap stuff and went bust. Guy
  9. Actually PB is remarkably Guzzi friendly these days- recently featured the MGS01 and also the Zagato Guzzi (the one in the Davida advert). Can't listen to the radio- am taking a quick break from fitting the cat replacement pipe on my Monster. Its made by Quat D and has been a right pain in the arse to get lined up but I am nearly there! Back to work..
  10. A lap average of over 130mph? That is f***ing fast!! I read an interview with Guy Martin in a recent issue of Performance Bikes magazine and he seems to be the type of bloke who will go for it and sod the consequences. Hope he stays in one piece. Guy

    And don't forget the mental Senior Policeman who wants to ban all bikes from National Parks.... The only problem I could see with buying a lid from the US is that it won't have the ACU gold sticker which is necessary for track days. If you visited the ACU in Rugby they would probably put a sticker on for you but best to check that out first. Guy

  13. Nice pic I believe the rider is in fact Ashley Law who in addition to being a decent TT racer, was mechanic in a Guzzi shop not far from here in Sheffield. The bike was built by him and the guy who runs Moto Strada, Jason. I believe they blueprinted the motor and ran the crank and rods from an 1100 Sport Corsa. The exhaust system was custom made by Scorpion (Ballacraine has one of the sets on his V11) and the motor chucked out a huge amount of torque on the dyno (nearly as much as my V11 ). During the race Ashley was grinding the sump in the bends. I did a track day at Cadwell Park the same year and he was there on his Tenni and he was keeping pace with the superbike racers and pulling huge wheelies over the mountain- it sounded ace too. Guy
  14. I think I am the only person here who has measured my bike on the dyno pre and post FBF installation. The interesting thing is that there is absolutely no extra peak horsepower- the extra urge that owners of FBF bikes notice is from an enhanced midrange not extra top end. The important thing here is that if you are chuffed with your bike as is then thats great!

Ahhhh the sound of summer......the sound of leather hitting willow, picnics by running streams, insects gently buzzing by as you lie in a sunny grassy meadow.... and big b**tard Italian twins with open pipes getting their nuts thrased off mercilessly! I was surprised that the Termis that I got with my Duke were actually road legal, but with a removeable baffle- seems like a good idea and you don't have to bother swapping pipes to get it through an MOT.
  17. My avatar, as I am sure everybody who watches Monkey Business on Animal Planet knows, is Paddy from Monkey World. Here is a short paragraph about Paddy: Paddy is a male chimpanzee that was used as a photographer's prop in Spain. He arrived at the park on 13/07/87 and we estimate he was born during 1980. Paddy is the largest member of the group with silver hair on his back. When he arrived, he was contented with his own company and did not get involved with the others. He is now a successful group leader. Paddy keeps a close eye on his group making his status known only when absolutely necessary. He often displays to others by standing his hair on end, charging around, and making as much noise as possible. The last few sentences are very similar to my old shcool reports. Guy
  18. I would say on a grasstrack circuit the sheep would have the upper hoof, but throw in a wet track with plenty of puddles then the duck would get its beak in front. Talking of lamb..... A man walks into his bedroom with a sheep under his arm and approaches his wife who is in bed. He looks at his wife and says "This is the pig I have sex with when you have a headache!" His wife scowls and says "I think you will find that isn't a pig" He replies "I'll think you'll find I wasn't talking to you!!"

  20. Ratch Lighten up mate! Motorbikes are about having fun, not MPG and constant criticism of what others are doing. Chill out man, smoke a joint, make love to a beautiful woman, drink some nice wine then take a long ride just for fun- grow your hair long, have a great time and be at peace with this world. Remember these are ITALIAN motorcycles ridden by folks who have red blood and a strong pulse! Guy
  21. The Guzzi kit is unique- mentions on their website that if you want a stand for a Guzzi please contact them- there is an online enquiry form. I think the Guzzi adaptor may be generic because it fitted my Sport Corsa, Jackal and my V11. Not sure if it would fit the Breva / Griso because they have a funny swingarm arrangement. When I bought my Duke I simply had to buy an adaptor kit for £20 which was a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new stand. Guy
  22. I've got one and love it- so easy to use, impossible to drop the bike while doing it and I can use it for my Ducati as well. Guy
  23. I think you will be meaning this- built by ex Superbike racer and now chopper builder Roland Sands. Would be fun to watch it go round an oval dirt track with Kenny on board- I've seen pictures of him rear wheel steering a V Max on a dirt track which was pretty awesome.
  24. My local dealer has 3 Norges in his showroom including a demonstrator. So far none have been sold. When the Breva 1100 was launched punters were queuing at the door, and he was selling them as fast as he was getting them. Its early days yet and I hope it does well for MG's sake, but I think they may have overpriced it in the UK. Guy P.S.
