  1. Did you see me waving from the deck of the ferry as it sailed past? Guy
  2. Hubert Alex will have Carillo rods as they were fitted as standard to the Corsa version of the Sport Injection. They do make the motor smoother with noticeably less vibration. Guy
  3. Myself and Mal have fitted FBFs to our V11s in April and have both done several thousand miles on them, as have other members of this forum. What difference do they make? Have a look at my chart in dyno gallery thread and you can see the main difference is increased torque and power throughout the mid range. You can feel this extra urge when riding the bike. Important to run the bike on decent fuel once the change has made- there are plenty of stations selling 99 octane around here which is perfect. If I have to use 97 octane that is fine but if you use cheap fuel from a backwater station in the middle of nowhere it will pink, although V11s do that anyway on cheap petrol. I guess logically it will reduce the engine life but what the heck, you only live once. Still waiting to hear a solid story of a FBF motor breaking or wearing out because of this conversion. I am not one of life's worriers and just tend to go out have fun. I've thought about twin plugging but at the moment I can't be arsed because I am pretty happy with the Guzzi as it is and have been busy fettling my other baby. Guy
  4. Reason for sale- I have had my ECU reprogrammed by HTM and the PC111 is now redundant. £100 to first person to PM me. I am not going to post or ship it so buyer will have to personally collect it from my house in West Yorkshire or I could take it to V Twin Rally Bank Holiday weekend if any southerners want it. Cheers Guy P.S. Off to Ireland at the crack of dawn tomorrow for 4 days so it may take a while to reply to any PMs.
  5. Hi Greg Gonna keep it in case I want to change it back to standard one day. Regards Guy
  6. With the spread of chronic obesity from the USA into UK, I have decided that for the sake of my Rosso Corsa's health, it will go on a diet. First step is to ditch that ugly but effective fairing. Have sourced a headlight (from a Ducati Monster) and ordered the headlight brackets for a V11 Sport which amazingly are in stock and will be with me next week, together with the 2 spacers that go in to the recess each side of the headlight. Could do with some suggestions as to which indicators to use- any ideas as which ones to fit that look good and don't involve fiddling with extra relays? As for mirrors I was thinking of getting these:LS hindsight mirrors. Anybody have any experience of them? Will probably order them for my Monster too. Am also stripping off the pannier racks and luggage, together with any other unnecessary brackets I can find. I think I will be able to raise my Mistrals higher now that the pannier racks will have gone. The airbox will be going and separate filters arriving, even though I may lose a horsepower because of this. Would love some lightweight wheels but they are out of my budget for the meantime. I'll posts pics when I am done. Guy
  7. I've only just read this post which BFG posted while I was on holiday- now I know why he has gone into hiding ever since I returned! Too late for my family to stop messing with the gene pool- some our family moved to California early last century so I am sure our DNA has spread! Ratchethack may actually be my Great great grandfather! Actually Ratchet why don't you join me for a night out around the pubs and clubs of Huddersfield and you can ask some of the gentleman who drink in the aforementioned establishments if indeed they are Nancy Boys? I am sure they will answer your question in quite some detail. Point taken though- all soccer players are nancys, especially if they cry! Guy
  8. I expect they will be deep frying that in Glasgow?
  9. Don't forget the upcoming tours of Iran and North Korea. I hope she has plenty of ammo.
  10. Stick on mirrors and indicators and it starts to look a bit more tame. Still fugly though- hopefully the company that designed the beautiful and stylish V7 Sport, T3, V11 Sport, Le Mans 1, 750S, Griso and MGS01 will come up with a bike that is genuinely good looking rather than these crappy mock ups that keep appearing on the internet. Even Jap sports bikes are beginning to get more decent lines now and the Triumph 675 definitely has some flair, so I hope if this supposed bike exists, Guzzi don't make it so it needs a paper bag on its head. Guy
  11. Yes that is a rip off- although my comment was aimed at our friends from the USA!
  12. At least your gas is much cheaper! (leans back in chair and waits for expletives)
  13. Thats a bit too much for me Alex- I think I would only buy my old one number 133 if it came up for sale. Cheers Guy
  14. I miss my old Sport Corsa- and it was a very good looking bike but I could not get on with the ergonomics because for me it was hell to ride long distances. Definitely more sporty looking than the V11. Here is my old baby at Angelsey circuit- if I ever saw her for sale at a reasonable price I would buy her back just to take out on the occasional short Sunday blast.
  15. I can believe it- the Jackal is a great underrated bike- Tonti frame, punchy motor (especially when allowed to breathe) and less fuss and weight than the EV models. I used to regularly take mine on ride outs with friends on Jap sports bikes and those who did not know the Jackal used to say things like "Don't worry- we will wait for you" or something similar. What surprised them was its cornering ability, bearing in mind it is a cruiser, plus the grunt exiting bends where they were revving the balls off their Jap fours to stay in touch. The only worry was ground clearance- eventually the footrest rubbers would grind down. Obviously on a long straight the Jap guys would breeze past and a good rider on a sports bike was still faster round the bends but it opened up a lot of people's eyes, and created an interest in Guzzis similar to the thread mentioned in David's post. Moto Guzzi- always the underdog
  16. Yeah its fugly. The guy who has created this has merged some images of a Griso with a Norge. Lets hope that the genuine Guzzi designers do a much sexier job bearing in mind its meant to be a sexy Italian sportsbike not another old fart's BMW R1200RS. I agree with Alex- obviously the MGS or Supertwin would be a good starting point. That is if this proposed sports bike really exists........ Guy
  17. Welcome to the forum!!!
  18. Scarface Please don't watch this if you are easily offended, don't like rude words or ride a nice Honda.
  19. Helen and I will be there- think Jim is going too. Guy
  20. Nogbad I can comment on Quest ownership: Good points Price (£325) Maps of Britain, Ireland and Western Europe included Easy to download new maps and updates from your home PC Long battery life (20 hours) so you do not necessarily need to power it from bike (although you can with extra kit) Waterproof Car kit included Easy to use Bad points Small screen Need to take gloves off to use buttons Ireland map limited to main roads (better than Tom Tom which has nothing) Screen went a bit funny when used in below freezing temperatures. Recent software glitch which means it needs rebooting occasionally which is a pain when you are riding but to be fair it has had a right bashing over the last 2 years. Can only search by address not postcode. Whatever you chose I can recommend the GPS warehouse who are cheap, efficient and stock a variety of mounting kits. Good luck Guy
  21. The best selection of used Guzzis in the UK is at Moto Strada who currently have 23 second hand bikes in addition to the new models. They even have a used Griso and 1100 Breva. Guy
  22. If you are going for a V11 Le Mans rather than a Sport I would chose one with Ohlins i.e. A Rosso or Nero Corsa.
  23. Did a bit of research whilst on holiday recently and was quite impressed with some of the American Pale Ales. Had this one in Utah: And this one was available all over California and I liked it so much I bought a load from my local supermarket in Huddersfield at the weekend. All in all I was impressed and relieved to find decent beer wherever we went- I can't stand Bud or anything similar. Guy
  24. It would be great if at the next big gathering of V11s we could get a mobile dyno and run each bike on the same dyno in order to get an idea of how each combination of modifications affects power and torque. I could ask HTM to come along to the German V11 meeting next year with their dyno van if there is enough interest. Guy
  25. Macguzzi I am sure you will remember that when the Scottish Rally used to held at Stirling, haggis, neeps and tatties used to be served on the Sunday night. Tasted horrible though Guy
