  1. Nice bike Jock! I'll be at Spean Bridge too. Guy
  2. MCN report today that the WSB organisers have now agreed the 1200cc limit for twins. Guy
  3. Ok- here are my settings which work well for me- I am 15 stone. Rear Compression and rebound standard Preload- 2 clicks over standard Front Compression 2 clicks over standard Rebound standard Preload 1 click over standard Obviously what works for me may not be good for another, depending upon their weight and riding style. The front preload setting is the one I have taken the longest to come to. On the standard setting the bike felt like it was tucking in too quick in tight bends and mini roundabouts. I then went up two clicks which made the bike feel more surefooted and stable, but seemed to increase understeer. I then went down a click and got the perfect medium. I found increasing the compression on the front forks reduced braking dive considerably. Be careful when fiddling with Ohlins- one click either way can make one hell of a difference. I am sure if you do a search on here there is some good advice about setting up static sag etc. Guy
  4. It happens everywhere else- BMW use Rotax motors, as do Aprilia. The Mille lump is itself a Rotax engine, not Aprilia's own. Cagiva use Suzuki motors, and before that, Ducati engines. Kawasaki use the TL1000 lump in their version of the V Strom. CCM use Suzuki engines. MZ use Yamaha motors. Bimota use Ducati engines. Although I would love Guzzi to make their own V twin superbike engine, this would cost a fortune to develop so I can understand the thinking behind using the Aprilia motor for a superbike. If this rumour is true, then fair enough- I am sure Guzzi will continue to make the old V twins and if it helps the company survive then that can only be a good thing. Guy
  5. My mum drives a basic Ka- it is a nice little car for the money. Fords are a little more interesting than they used to be. Guy
  6. I remember riding up past Monza on the way to Mandello for the 80th Raduno with 2 other English Guzzis, and as we got within 20 miles of the factory, there were people in their gardens and standing at their front doors waving and cheering the bikes as they converged on the hometown. It was quite some sight, seeing dozens of Guzzis on the road at once, all homing onto Mandello from different directions. A week earlier, on the Milan ring road, we had a lorry driver pull up next to us in his cab, blast his horn and hang out of his window shouting "Bella Guzzis!". I guess it depends on where you go as to how passionate Italians are about Moto Guzzi. Guy
  7. Quick flash of boobies
  8. How good are you at oggling? http://www.kontraband.com/show/show.asp?ID...rtn=main-topten
  9. Nice bike, BFG!
  10. That is very sad news. My condolences, Chunk. Guy
  11. Shouldn't this thread now be located to the new swingers forum???
  12. I rode my Rosso Corsa with no fairing for the first time yesterday when I was doing a shakedown run after the fitting of my FBF pistons (cheers for your help Mal! ). Could not be bothered to put the fairing on because heads needed retorquing in the morning, so I went for a 25 mile ride over the local moors sans fairing, and I absolutely loved it the feel of the wind in my face. Ok it was sunny and warm, so I may have got a bit carried away but I have decided that when funds allow, I will fit a V11 Sport type headlight and brackets and make mine into a naked- its much more fun. The V11 LM fairing is excellent at keeping the rain off but just a bit ugly IMHO. Guy
  13. Congrats Nige! Well done- reading your posts tells me you put a lot of effort into this one. Now have a few beers! Guy
  14. Cheers for the offer Martin- I will probably go up my usual route over the Erskine Bridge then up to Crianlarich, through Glencoe then up to Spean Bridge. Its quite a long haul in a day so I will keep the route reasonably direct. If anyone fancies a ride out on the Saturday I will probably go over the Pass Of The cattle to Applecross, up past Torridon and back down again. Ace roads if its dry.
  15. Booked my room today- staying Friday and Sat night. Hope the weather is good! Guy
  16. I will pop into Teo's when I am over for the Boxmeer Rally, which is the same weekend as the German V11 bash. Have now decided to head straight for Portsmouth from Fishguard when I return from Erin on Sunday night, stay at my Mum's then get the Monday ferry to Cherbourg, spend a few days playing in the Alps, pop into Mandello then hot foot it back up to the Netherlands for Boxmeer. Guy
  17. My right hand exhaust header pipe cracked on Sunday so I sent an email to Reboot seeing if they had a spare- no reply as yet. I decided to order a new one from TLM on Tuesday night and performed the transaction online. It turned up this morning- well done to TLM for having it in stock in the first place, and for sending it so quickly- I can recommend them to anyone who needs parts. Having places you can rely on makes Guzzi ownership even better. I can hopefully get the bike back on the road tomorrow, although it currently looks like this:
  18. No worries- I'll burn one for you but not tonight- spent 5 hours down the local boozer asnd I need sleep.
  19. As advertised on page 7 of this months Grumblemonger. £120 and four classes, novices (nuns??), classic, intermediate and expert. Max of 20 riders per group. Bookings by 1st June. Guzzi Club members welcome. I quite fancy this- anyone else like to ride round with all the Tarquins and Sebastians on their posh MVs? The dirtier, older and smellier your Guzzi the better!! Guy
  20. Actually it was a reasonably friendly paddock- we were greeted in the morning by a Scouser who saw the bikes and said "F***ing Hell!! Guzzis! Never seen them here before!!" Turned out he used to have a LM2. Got a few comments about how nice the Guzzis looked and sounded from the other riders. Most of 'em were track regulars and I guess understood that it does not matter how fast your bike is, there will always be somebody faster than you. Guy
  21. Gazza used to get a hard time. Here is Vinnie Jones grabbing his nuts.
  22. Could not get the camcorder clip to upload on .Putfile so I put it on Google video instead. Ignore the first seconds- thats me wobbling around but then Keith comes into view on his Scura and starts to have fun. This was the first session of the day- things got a lot quicker after that! Camera work and insane commentary courtesy of Helen. Baldini video clip Guy
  23. The 749 / 999 look has slowly grown on me and I think they look better with the red frames. The 999 replacement is being revealed this year which is said to be 1200cc and styled more like the 916, which most Ducatisti prefer in terms of looks. When this comes out, I reckon prices of used 999s will plummet because nobody will want last years ugly duckling model, so if you are smart you could hang on and get yourself a bargain. Guy
  24. Blimey that was quick!!
  25. Good job Jaap does not read the forum any more......
