  1. I was clearing out the dog run the other day, and I found a frog. I called him Jack. not sure why. I put him up on top of the stone wall at the back of the run, so thr dogs wouldn't be able to bother him. High Jack!
  2. I may only be a sprightly 37, but I reckon Jaap's entitled to set the rules in his playground. If you don't want to play there, well, you can always go elsewhere. Mind you, sending everyone and his sister an email may have been a little over the top, but it wouldn't ba guzzi website if things weren't a little over the top!
  3. ahh Sweden. horrible beer(pripps?), spectacular women. Kind of the opposite to where I live. God does have a sense of humour!
  4. Brit Magazine "Ride" did a review on buying a used v11 last month. It seems the Tenni is the one to have. Well, that's comforting.....
  5. This one took a bit of thought. My tenni's an avocado. It's getting better with age, and I haven't bruised it yet. My katana's not a fruit at all actually. It's a fish. A mackerel I think, but I'm still not convinced.
  6. I like the guy. I suppose he would technically be called a curmudgeon, as in he seems to be equally insulting to everyone, and even when driving the most spectacular cars, will always find some silly fault with it. It's his m.o., and whar we have come to expect, now. I am surprised, given the amount of bikers he's interviewed, and that the other two are bikers, that no one has suggested a lap in a reasonably priced family motorcycle? What would it be? honda cb500, vespa, cub, deauville,? hondas keep coming to mind...
  7. testing,testing 123
  8. I have to say, it sounds like amyth to me. For instance, there is a distinct lack of pasta in french cooking. they are both fabulous though, which is about the only thing I reckon they have in common! Japanese cooking's great too. Can't say there's much italian influence there...I mean, I know Marco Polo got around, but seriously!
  9. Sounds like a great trip. about 15 years ago, I did something similar, covering nearly 30 states. It was from november to march, on a little 535 yamaha virago. Iwent on amore southerly route, basically ny to florida to california. What caught me out was the elevation shifts. you'd b nice and toasty in arizona, say, and a few hours later you,d be freezing your nuts off in new mexico at 6000 feet. I did most of it in a leather jacket and 3 pairs of jeans! I guess you learn from your mistakes.
  10. As I type this I'm in Shanghai. It's the centre of the financial world now, forget, new york, london, hong kong, bombay. decent beer too!
  11. I love paris, I lived there for 6 months in the early nineties, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure you will encounter rudeness, but that;s true of any big city. hong kong, new york, london. God knows, even Dublin. But the french have a few reasons to be arrogant. Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. The food is arguably the best. So is the wine. The people are fabulously good looking, and stylish. And they invented joie de vivre. Next to the Italians, I reckon they've just about got it right. Sure there are faults, but Who doesn't have them?
  12. The present worlds policeman doesn't represent me, or the majority of the planet. Including a lot of Americans. Democracy is the least worst form of government, but the American version is one of the worst examples of democracy in the world today. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I can't think of a better example than Bush and his cronies.
  13. Goooo munster! umm, I think it might go the way of the national team though.... By the way, I spent a week thinking the English hsd been screwed on that try, but it's been explained to me since. Definetly no try. fair enough I suppose, but the 6 nations are going to be awfully interesting...
  14. I'm watching the match in hong kong tonight, at 3 in the morning. Just one lone paddy shouting for france, surrounded by 300 drunken englishmen. This could be my last post...
  15. Sounds like a great idea, I'd jump at the chance to come up for a spin, although the summer's going to busy for me,but I'd do my best to fit it in. Having said that, the Erin rally, or some version thereof, will most likely happen again in June, in incheegeela. It was a smaller affair with maybe 20 bikes this year, but still good crack.

    Back Again

Jeez, thought you'd died. or bought a honda. Are you allowed to say what part of the planet you were banished to?
  17. We're still depressed in our house, even the dogs are moping around with their tails between their legs. Well done to the Argies, I hope they progress much further. Sob.
  18. sounds good. I'll be there, barring earthquakes, wars, and my rostering system from hell!

    Slug's Crash

great to hear you're ok. Bikes can be fixed. atgatt. if there's one thing that's hit home with me from this website, it's that. The photo's of other people misfortune have only enforced it further.
  20. Apparently, and I stand to be corrected here, the reason british racing green came about was they wanted to use red on the brit cars, but the italians had already taken it. It turns out one of the chief engineers was Irish, which way back then was British anyway, so they decided on green. Nice story, not sure if it's true though.
  21. I fly airplanes for a living. Bikes are for fun. I think guzzis are more akin to sex , to be honest. Mind you, they're the most masculine looking bikes I know of. Now I'm very confused....
  22. argentina 17 France 12..... Cats out, pigeons everywhere....
  23. I wouldn't judge any team by recent performance. all they're doing is trying out different formations and minor player positions. The best three teams on their day are New zealand France Ireland. Who knows, the paddies might be lucky and make the final. But the fact remains, the best 2 teams in the world, by a long ways, are : The all black A team, and The all black B team! Bring it on, it should be fun.....
  24. I rode a norge last week, and no, I don't think it's a sports bike, but for a fully dressed tourer, it's got more soul then anything else I can think of. And it's not butt-ugly. Iwill have to fit a mistral on it it ,though. It seems there are 2 types, one slightly quieter then a standard mistral, the other about the same( it's called a bomb, apparently). Mistral reckoned that a normal mistral was a little too loud for a long distance tourer with a big screen. I'd love to hear an opinion from some one who's actually had one fitted.
  25. Thanks guys, I managed to drop into britishitalian on saturday but they had just closed, so no joy. Not to worry though, We had a test ride in Ireland just before we left ,and were impressed. Although the centrestand kept rubbing, but I guess that just needs some suspension set up. I'll be taking the corvair down to Victoria in a few days,( I'm based in Duncan) so I might drop into the place Van mentioned, for no other reason than I'd like to see a red one in the flesh, if they have one. RJ, I might take you up on those oil filters! Maybe you could pm me, and I'll try to figure something out. Van, I don't think I'll make it up to Cambell river. too busy visiting the in-laws etc, but feel free to have a brew without me! Fergal.
