See? That's better. It isn't the size of the words I have trouble with. It's that you choose to use 5000 words when ten will do. You think I'VE got an appetite for attention?? Jovial! And Momma sez I'm speshal 'cuz I go ta skule onna short bus. (I've tried to type this as close as I can get to your own collection of piss poor, made up contractions. Hope you will still understand.) Shouldn't you be off somewhere calibrating your wrist? Rj

Got me. No idea. Rj -
Using the FBF lidless conversion doesn't mean you have to use a FBF or K&N filter. Ratchet's yapping about nothing again. I use the stock Guzzi filter with my FBF lidless - fits fine. There is more HONK but I find it quite liveable. I always ride with earplugs though. If you often ride in a dusty environment I wouldn't recommend going with the K&N/FBF filters etc. There have been reports of the heat reflecting tape underneath the gas tank (it tends to peel off over time) getting sucked onto the filter and blocking it but so far the FBF/K&N filters have managed to keep it out of the motor. cheers, Rj

Ruptured budgie? You know... if you wrap them with duct tape first, they stay together. Rj

I think if we really tried we could do it in 25. Rj -
Yeah - sounds like bad gas. Could be moisture or you filled up right after the truck filled the tanks. Stirs all the bottom crud up when they fill. If you see a truck filling the tanks - go to another station. cheers, Rj

It's OK to be envious Ratcho. Not everyone can be single and happy. Some have even (choke!) married ONE woman! Poor bastards... There is actually one I'm fighting off with a stick. She's like a bloody zombie! Seems to think I'd make a great father for her brats. Most just go away when I tell them bus fare's on the dresser. Rj

Don't knock it until you've tried it! I've had way more fun ripping around on ice than any road. Great traction, amazing lean angles, no worries about oncoming traffic or Winnebagos, crashing is nothing to be afraid of (try to keep them lowsides!). Your face will hurt from all the smiling! Rj

Not uncommon for a bike to sit in the crate. One of the local Duc dealers has a ton of new bikes in crates spanning back several years, just sitting in the warehouse. I was trying to buy one at one point but he won't sell them. If they sell below cost (as a bike that is a few years old would) then he has red marks in his books. This affects his credit rating and the amount of money he can borrow to keep new bikes on the floor. Not a businessman myself so don't ask me to explain the nuances of it all. That's what I was told when I was haggling. That's when I bought my Guzzi. The MG dealer was happy to unload it at a serious discount. This bike will go high. Maybe as high as $30K or more. Engine rebuilds are common at 60K kms and will run $10K US or so. Since the release of the SC's square and roundcase bikes and parts have gone through the roof. A busted incomplete roundcase motor alone will fetch $3-4K US. This original, unmolested example will go for serious coin. Rj -
No, no edits from me. If I say it, it's said and there it is. I was pointing out Ratchets agreeing with not hand tightening then going on to say he uses his "calibrated wrist" to hand tighten. Possibly THE most ridiculous thing he's said. But then he's a "do as I say, not as I do" kinda guy. I am making no comment on wether or not to use UFI filters. I don't think there is enough information yet to condemn them but they are under suspicion. Yes, most, if not all, of our Known failures have been UFI's but I suspect that may have to do with 90% (est) of owners choosing to use them. Suspicion, yes, condemn... not yet. For me anyway. I've been using some black no name thing my dealer stocks. And I will be putting a hose clamp of some sort on it. And for the record - I did NOT say anything bad about Americans! Crimey you guys are touchy! I said Californians. Peace. Rj

Ratchet - you are talking out both sides of your mouth again. In post 31 Gary states the moral of the story is "don't hand tighten". In post 32 you are quick to agree with him. Then in post 40 you state that you hand tighten yours and will continue to do so, while once again pushing your WallFart shite. We get it. There is a $2 option. Your sheeple are going to be confused by your flip-flopping. How ever will they get through their next oil change without a firm position from you on hand tightening. Better write a 1000 word essay. Me, I'll spend my $2 on a hose clamp. Might even be able to get two. Rj

Well, I don't hate it. But it does look rather confused. I'd like it a ton better with the CF front guard and that rear painted satin black. A red tail would be too much red. As is, it really doesn't have any artistic flow to it. I can't decide if it is the green tail or the seat that is most at fault. The flag and the grey sides on the seat are visual detractors to the flow too. I like what you're doing tho'. Rj

Less RoI?? Sounds like their sales pitch is grasping at straws. Like some of their other claims on the link - "Improving the puncture resistance" "Coping with heavy impact stress" "Reducing the tire wear" OK, but that is still a stretch! I don't believe for a second that with all those SS spokes and *big* nipples that there is any REAL significant lowering of RoI. Waiting for independent testing... They're trying to find *any* technical reason for someone to buy their wheels. There isn't one. This is a style mod only. Pure and simple. Rj

Not set up for snow and gallavanting about the bushes. This bike is an ice racer. With a couple hundred sheet metal screws in the knobbies it'll rip around an ice track almost as if on pavement. It's only once half the screws have been tore out that things start getting exciting. I could dig out the pics of a bunch of us who've headed up to play on the ice tracks once the races were done. The old Maico would spray a sweet rooster tail of ice chips sliding around the corners. Eight guys, six bikes, one barbecue, and far more beer than safety would dictate. You see just about anything out there that you can get knobbies on. My RT450 is going up next time we go. Sweet pic John - I've seen the other shot that's been around but not this one. Rj

Ratch - couple points... Check his pics - you'll see his body is actually now allowed to sit farther forward. I had this same problem - long legs and pegs up and back forced me farther back on the seat. Moving my pegs down and forward actually allowed me to get weight over the front wheel easier. It also allowed me to get my weight off the seat easier as my knees were no longer bent past 90deg. Having that extra room also allows more room to fidgit about - made long rides much better. For a tall person I think this will be an excellent mod! I've been thinking about doing a similar thing for the passenger pegs. But since I no longer have a pillion passenger it has become very low priority! cheers, Rj
