My thoughts exactly.

NTC's? NTC, PTC is not refering to a type of RTD but rather wether you have an increasing resistance or a decreasing Res wrt to increase in temp. Has anyone determined what type of RTD the sensor is? Thermocouple? Thermistor? I have little experience with auto sensors but am very familiar with medical temperature monitoring and its associated transducers. NTC - negative temp. coefficient PTC - pos temp coefficient RTD - resistance-temperature detector or device My question is - In THIS sensor how much difference in R do we see in the different configurations discussed so far? How much actual deviation do we see with the various holders, gaps, etc.? Does the temp of the housing, or its ability to shed heat even matter? Without a detailed manufacturers spec sheet, the only way to determine this is by bench testing. Testing on the bike leaves far too much uncertain to be of any real conclusive value. In my eyes anyway. Ratch's done a great job of figuring out what works with HIS bike, in IT'S configuration, under the conditions found in HIS part of the world. Someone in Sweden, with a different bike, at a different part of the year could very well hang himself following in Ratch's footsteps...

hey doug - I did the same thing... The clutch slave has a steel ball (ala bearing) under the bleeder. The speed bleeder must be ground down so its profile matches the stock bleeder. As for damage... quite possible depending on how far you went torquing it down. Get everything bled nicely. The clutch lever should operate as smoothly as before. If it is stiff you have deformed the slave body enough that it interferes with the clutch actuator, new slave required. Hold the clutch lever down for a while, might even zip tie it down. The idea is to test if you have cracked the slave. Look for pressure to drop over time, come back in 15 min and see if the clutch is still disengaged. If there are no leaks and clutch operates smooth, you are likely just fine.

Has anyone actually bench tested the characteristics of the sensor itself? It would be interesting to see if it is the tip of the sensor that determines the resistance or if temp of the body has any effect on resistance. All this plug and play is fine and dandy but so far there really hasn't been any hard knowledge gleaned, mostly still speculation on the results of pseudo-scientific trial and error. I have no interest in taking any of my bike apart now that she's happy and ready for the spring. If someone has the sensor out, a little testing with a water bath, ohm meter, thermometer and a fan should give some hard results as to what kind of effect the holders may have. I suspect temp at the tip is the important part, and that the sensor body temp has little effect on the resistance. Any takers on proving/disproving the hypothesis?

Bang on the money Jim. Molson Canadian should be "export only".

Thanks Belfry! I hadn't seen those. Recognize some of the footage from my Dunlop DVD - think I'll pick up a few and watch it again tonight. I absolutely love watching old footage like this! cheers -

When I'm flush, it's Arrogant Bastard Ale and 10yr Jameson's. When I'm scraping the pennies it's Dude Beer and Mescal. That cherry turpentine might be worth a try...

Motomonster - chuck thos eugly gear clamps on your pipe wrap and order some of the neat, tidy stainless straps from Summit Racing. Really cleans up the look. Cheers!

Expect higher head temps when you wrap your headers. Much of the Ex. valve cooling comes from the header's ability ti sink heat away. Wrapping insulates from the air convection over the header pipes. Don't know if this would be an issue with the Guzzi lump...

Whats the longest trip you've done on a V11?

6500km, 6 days, ran flawlessly. -
Changing, not changing; our fault, not our fault; do something, do nothing. Pointless arguments really. If it is changing, and if it is our fault, unless there is worldwide change we're gonna be buggered. And since even this minute worldwide sample we have here, with many highly educated and intelligent people, cannot agree on anything, it stands to follow that worldwide change ain't gonna happen. If this turns out to be the case, we will survive and the world will survive. It would just be a very different place than it is now. Perhaps the focus should be on adapting to this possibility... Just a thought.

I know I said not another word, but since interesting discussion, as opposed to bashing, is occuring.... I have also read this response. And I did say Mr. Craven's vid was close to my beliefs, I also realize (as in your response) that it really doesn't matter what the rest of the world does (if indeed we are heading for appocalypse...) as long as China and India continue to spew. How can anyone tell India and China that their economic development must stop when we ourselves have come to our position via the same route. At the end of the posted response one can read Mr. Craven's comments on this article (paste below). Greg Craven: You might be interested in the 6+ hours of videos I made to accompany “How It All Ends,” addressing every single objection I came across in reading over 7000 comments about my first video–”The Most Terrifying Video.” If you are sincere about getting closer to “the truth” (only closer, since science never claims to get there) rather than just holding on to your opinion, I would hope that you are willing to invest the time. I’ve invested hundreds of hours in researching this, in the hopes of either finding out where I’m wrong–so that I can ditch that misunderstanding–or reinforce where I’m right, to increase my confidence in my understanding. Given that I feel I’ve already addressed your concerns in the videos, perhaps you’ll understand that I point you to them rather than re-iterate them here. If, after viewing, I would love to hear your critique of the points that I missed, or “deal-killer” errors you believe I made. Please contact me at wonderingmind42@gmail.com, as well as post your critiques here. Thanks for the sincere thinking, and acknowledging the possibility that you might be wrong. I must tell you–I certainly hope I am wrong. But my long study has me quite confident that I am right. I would LOVE to be convinced otherwise. But after viewing the videos, you’ll see what level of evidence and argument it will take to do so. (I actually lay out the outline for your counterargument in one of the vids.) The idea of carbon credits is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard - Why should I turn off my lights when I can pay someone else to do it? Absolute lunacy for both sides of the argument. I also have serious issues with Ratchet's constant "Science is absolute" beliefs. Science is more probability than fact, that's why there are far, far more scientific theories than scientific laws. As for the money argument, big money can be found on both sides of the GW argument. A push at best. The following is very close to how I feel on the subject, worded much better than I can do with a keyboard. Hard to argue with a truth table. And I'm not saying another word on the subject. Argue amongst yourselves.

Which is why I insulated my brass one with heavy PVC shrink. FWIW, making the sensor read temp accurately cured my mileage problem (drastic improvement) and also made the bike run like a dream.
-
I bought the Hyperpro Reactive. Worth every penny - the bike is noticeably smoother than it was even when the Bitubo POS was new. Forget the cheap shite - may as well run without one completely.

The knobbied Guzzi also has ~500 sheet metal screws in each tire. Being quite familiar with ice racing, I have no doubt that she did just fine in the snow and ice.

Since "Dakar" has become the brand name associated with the race, obviously the race cannot be renamed. The only correct thing to do is change the name of the town where the race ends in SA to "Dakar". Then everyone is happy.

It's all about the journey, not the destination. In my book anyway. I have no problem with it being in SA.

Quick and clean way to check if your cracked boots are leaking - take a propane torch (not lit!) and apply the stream (not much needed) of gas to the boots while the bike is running. If the engine speeds up, you need new boots. -
I KNEW these lumps would run on diesel!
