  3. What happened to the other polls, the ones with the REALLY sexy Italian bikes?? Has Jaap slanted the field?? I'm feeling oppressed! Pity... Rj
  4. Amazing the lengths people will go to in order to write off their motorcycle and relates as a business expense. I'm going to see if the Vancouver Art Gallery would like to show my artistically bug covered Guzzi over the winter, and provide me with free heated storage... Rj
  5. Unfortunately, made in USA doesn't mean what it used to... but I'm sure Ratchet's extensive research and scientific testing by an independent firm to an international standard is undeniable proof that these are the best filters ever made. I'm with you Jason - I refuse to even park in Wallwort's parking lot, much less enter one of their stores. Even if these were undeniably THE best filter it was possible to make, at the lowest possible price, Wallfart can stick them right up their keister. Rj
  6. Congrats to Nicky on winning the points championship. But what an anticlimactic race. Very disappointing. After Rossi crashed everybody just set themselves on cruise control. I was really hoping Vale would grab a couple more places back at the end and bite Nicky in the ass for riding like a prude. I would be happier for Nicky if he had raced his way to the championship instead of cruising his way into it by a hair. What he does next year will determine if this is a remembered championship, or one that fans just forget about. What a yawner! Rj
  7. I feel your pain! I bought every stinkin filter wrench for each make of filter available in hopes of finding a combination that works. All have been flung to a corner of the shop. Now I just pull the pan and punch a screwdriver through the bottom 1/3 of the filter and twist off old school. That custom wrench earlier looks like it might be a winner though... Haven't tried it and my screwdriver has yet to frustrate me. Getting the bolt out - do it now. Any destructive means possible if necessary. When taking off the sump it is important to just crack each bolt before removing it. If you take them out individually the last couple will be under a severe torquing force from the weight of the pan and will strip before cracking. Buy a new sump gasket and a set of valve cover gaskets. You should be able to reuse the old ones several times but eventually they tear. Much easier to just grab your spare from the drawer than drive to the dealer (who is always closed for two days when you need him). May the force be with you Skygoozer! Rj
  8. I've sent Pete payment for one already - not sure if it was sent or if I'm on the wait list for the second batch. Watching the mail... Rj
  9. I though the third one was supposed to be in the back... fer slow dancin. Rj
  10. Are there actually any bikes out there that you DON"T want?? Rj
  11. You and Belfry are obviously new at this. It's his wife's grass ye want to be mowing... she gets half. Now, where was that thread aboot lonely housewives? Rj
  12. First - I resent the assumption that I am American. Canadian Brother!! BIG difference. Nicky said the same thing in his interview. You don't get to MotoGP without taking risks. It's OK for Elias to ride balls out but not Pedrosa? He had no team orders and Nicky tried to take him out right before. He knows he #@$&@#@ it up. Maybe next time he'll control his anger better. Elias could just have easily taken Rossi out if he'd lost one of those slides. I didn't see Edwards trying to block him out much. That's racing. I don't see what you think I'm mixing it up with?? cheers, Rj

  14. Note CN tower in background (Toronto) - another fine Canadian product!! Giving that Florida chick a run for the title... er Tittle. Send 'em over - I know exactly what to do with them. Rj
  15. Thanks Tom! I'd have taken you up on that a few months ago but am currently in negotiations on a 52 chev - another car I've wanted for a while. There will be another 'vair in my future though. cheers, Rj
  16. As someone who lives in a rain forest and has ridden extensively in the wet with glasses, the only thing I've found is to crack the visor 1/2 way. If I keep the visor down, my glasses fog up and with the rain on the visor I can't see a thing. If I keep it up my glasses get the rain and can't see. Half way seems to be the best as it keeps the rain off the glasses but still allows me to see underneath it. Far from ideal, but that's all that comes close to working... Also hoping someone will suggest a miracle product but I'm not optimistic. The little thumb squeegies work OK but are useless in anything other than light mist. And they are easily lost. Rj

  18. Don't feel bad about getting your leg pulled, Ratch. I was in mid reply when I felt the pull on my toes... Had Corvairs myself. A 61 Greenbrier van and a 66 Corsa. The 65/66's were excellent machines, and if you look at the frame on the (I likely have the year wrong) IIRC 69 Vette, there was a provision for mid engine a la corvair until Nader killed it all. My 66 though tired and worn was one of the better handling machines I've driven. Even the Greenie wasn't bad - if the problem was serious, with the higher COG in the van, I would certainly have experienced it in at least two surprise corners I still remember being amazed I lived through. The only time it was scary was at full bore on I5 heading to Laguna with the semi's raging by. Each one would threaten to send me ditch bound I used to have a photo of a 65/66 corvair going around a corner on a track with its inside rear wheel completely off the ground. They got a bad rap, but made Nader's career. I do have Nader to thank for my profession, however, (Biomedical Engineering) as his safety dogging resulted in much safer equipment in hospitals and the creation of Biomeds. I'd love to have another Greenie or Corsa. Finding solid ones is a real challenge now. cheers and thanks fer the memories! Rj
  19. Dear Friends, I believe that in these difficult and mean-spirited times we live in, there needs to be a message of hope. Just a single image that speaksto us of love, harmony, peace and joy. An image that suggests the universal brotherhood of man. I have found that image, and I ask that all of you take a moment to be inspired by it. Rj
  20. Sooooooo.... where ARE these hot married women looking for sex?? Inquiring minds need to know! Rj
  21. Copied from another thread as most seem to be asking about postage here... "Pete PS costs. To USA 1 sheet- $20AU 2 sheets- $36AU 3 sheets-$53AU Europe 1-$25AU 2-$46AU 3- $67AU" I'd like to order one as well Pete. I'm assuming shipping to Canada will be the same as to US. If I'm wrong, let me know and I'll send some more. Cheers, Rj
  22. Pete - I"ll try to get a pic of the SB so you can see what I mean. I'm worried that by tightening the SB down tight enough to deform the internal tip of it may have damaged whatever it is inside that the SB was hitting. Is it a moving part? Might I have cracked the housing internally? I figure if the bleeder was deformed, whatever it was hitting will also be deformed or damaged. I've got the old one in now - next time I change fluid I'll grind down the SB and install it permanently. Getting the SB to seat, as suggested, will be enough to get a fluid seal. I'm worried about damage I might have done to the slave internally. Thanks to all who responded. I am of a mind to pull it apart so I don't worry about my clutch seizing out on the road or fluid leaking somewhere it shouldn't be... But I'm not sure I'd even be able to see the area in question if I took it all apart. Rj
  23. Guzzirider to the rescue! Rj

  25. I was replacing the fluid in the clutch system last night using a speed bleeder. Worked excellent until I tightened it down. Pulled lever and didn't hear the clutch actuating. Took a look and saw fluid still coming out. Took out SB and saw that the tip (internal end) was deformed. Examined original bleeder and noticed it had a flat botton. not pointed like the SB. Put it back in and the clutch worked fine again (I think...) Question is - did I bugger something up in there? No idea what the internals look like... If I did I'd like to know before I put the SA back on... thanks, Rj
