  1. As it is a solvent, it would. Goof-Off is even better though! Rj
  2. Yes, but it does have more lubricating properties than WD-40 and I did specify "hinge" use. I wouldn't put in anywhere near anything that requires a real lubricant. cheers, Rj
  3. I find myself in rare agreement with Ratchet on this one. WD-40 is a solvent. It has no lubrication properties other than "moistening" stuck hinges etc. Even for that I'd rather use 3in1 household oil. My only use for WD-40 is as a hand washer/parts washer fluid. I would never consider using it inside an engine. Or on anything I would want lubricated. Rj
  4. I agree with you completely Guy. Nicky's been thinking "finish every race, collect some points, don't fall down, and I can cruise to the championship". Rossi's been thinking "win win win win" just like he does in every race (except that first Laguna race last summer). That's why Rossi is a champion. If Nicky loses the championship it will be because of his head, not his bike or Pedrosa. I can't fault Pedrosa for riding hard. Racing is like boxing - if you don't believe that you can win every race at every second of the race, you've no business being out there. Friendships and courtesy go out the window from the second they are off until the checkers drop. The last one's going to be a thriller! Rj
  5. I thought ether came from the ether bunny? Rj
  6. Hey, Nicky pulled a stupid move on Pedrosa himself just prior and almost took them both out of the race. Neither were racing like a team. I don't feel any sorrow for either. Let's see if they can race as a team in the last one. Nicky needs to do what Elias did today - take the machine to the edge and keep it there. What a balls move! Sending Rossi ahead after passing him to try to keep his tires to the end. The way he was sliding it they'd never hold together if he was fending off Rossi for 9 more laps. Save it all for the last lap - and what a last lap it was! Rj
  7. They only put a clock on the Buell so that riders would know when the coffee shop down the block closed. Rj
  8. If you're going to be manly about it, get it wrapped around yer price albert. Then only those in the "know" wil know. Rj
  9. Sorry, Belfry... but it is the size, AND what you do with it. Rj
  10. I've got that book too. Must remember to bring it in to work and park it beside the computer. Must remember, must remember... what was I supposed to remember? Rj
  11. Exactly what is "confidential" horsepower?? And how does it relate to Real HP?? Majic joose! Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Rj
  12. That's what I'm enjoying about these quizes - learning so much along the way. Rj
  13. Always - less painful that way. Lucky I remember at all - it was over a year ago and I have trouble remembering last week. Rj
  14. When I had the frame for my Duc powder coated I used a color that, I think, was called "Little Red Express". I remember bringing it home, sitting it beside the Guzzi and thinking "Hey that's about spot on". That's all I remember... Rj

    V11recall

A safety recall is a safety recall. MG must repair for free any bike that has not had the work done. A dealer can find out for you. The recalls on the Guzzis should not be a purchase concern. I'd be more concerned about any modifications done to the bike and wether they were properly sorted or not. Many strap on aftermarket bits and never get them sorted out, leavinga bike with low mileage and lots of nice bits. It can be a bother getting everything sorted and some just give up and let it sit until they finally sell. It's a buyer's market for v11's right now. Even though I have one of the few problem machines, I still recommend the bike to people as it is one of the few modern bikes that an owner with modest knowledge can work on easily themselves. Especially with the support of this forum. cheers, Rj
  16. If you asked a soldier they'd tell you debilitating can be more effective than killing. A dead soldier can be left ignored, a debilitated one requires at least one other to withdraw from battle to attend. In the case of terrorism, debilitation can serve the same purpose as killing if it gets you where you want to be. On a positive note, good to see Janice has made an appearance in this thread. Rj
  17. Unless one of them crashes out or DNF, I think the championship will go down to the wire with the champion victorious by one or two points. Nicky made his points early in the season, but now the others have sorted their machines and he's back to finishing 5th or 6th. Right where he was last year. I'm not sure he has the stones to attack and take the championship. I'd like to see him do it, but if he does it will be by a very close margin. I think Rossi will take the championship. Nobody out there commands the track under pressure like he does. If he has the championship in sight, he'll ride like a demon. Can't wait for the last races! Rj
  18. Good one indeed Alex! Well done Martin! Rj
  19. My only other guess would be a Peugeot 500cc 4stroke single. Rj
  20. I wanna be sedated... Rj
  21. Common for the spacer to get stuck as it is too much of an interference fit (shouldn't be interference at all!). Tightening the bolt jams it in there. Try spraying some WD40 on it and wiggling it out gently. Try to avoid wrecking the powder coat, if it isn't mated permanently to the spacer already. I figure when they spec'd the OD they used the "before powder coat" sizing. Rj
  22. This one is killing me! I recognize the tank shape and headlight... but can't place it. I want to think it starts with a "C"... Blackburne - were they still making bikes in the thirties? Thought they were finished in the twenties - or is Blackburn a different manufacturer? Rj
  23. Isn't the yellow 1917 Cyclone a "made in America" bike? Not sure how it got nominated... Is there some connection to an Italian manufacturer I'm unaware of? Rj
