Steve - on my list of things to do this winter is to make a set of risers. Try to get the bars up an inch or so. I like the idea of being able to play with it a bit. I've got a full machine shop at my disposal so I'll see what I can come up with. Just rough bits until I find something I like. I'd like to try to keep the stock brake lines. I have trouble forking out hundreds of dollars for new bars, helibars, risers etc. when I don't know if I'll like them any better. First I need to get her back up and running. If I can't work out her issues this summer, ergos won't matter much as it will get dumped. cheers, Rj

pirelli diablos on sale - replace both for the price of one! http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=&...0-PAR_1430400_G How much left on the front? I'd lean to replacing them both, but if the front is like new, replace the rear with same make and model - keep the set matched. Rj

I'm 6'2 also and did have to do a couple things to my bike to get it "comfy". First was the Givi screen - it works great! Nice pocket to tuck into on the highway, can stick my head in the wind if I want. Second was the pegs. My knees were bent past 90deg with the stockers, made it hard to get up off of the seat when riding hard. Evolusionne used to have the kits but I think they stopped making them... Nice now. I would like to get the pressure off my wrists a bit (slight riser) and I'd like to get Rich to make the seat a little softer (feels like I'm sitting on a 2x10 plank). But no great complaints. Done some looong days in the saddle and it was fine. But then, I'm under 40... cheers, Rj

Yes, the war on terror is doomed. Just as the war on drugs is doomed. They are battles that cannot be won. How do you fight an enemy on a world stage, one that does not wear a uniform, is religiously (or monetarily in the case of the drug war) driven (if god is on our side then who can be against us) and is indiscernable from civilian population. Think "Vietnam" on a world scale, except your enemy is in the cities and not wearing black pyjamas. It is one thing to outnumber and out arm your opponent, but when the world is the stage and the enemy does not present itself to battle, there is little hope that "shock and awe" will have any effect other than to put them in deeper hiding. What is the answer? I don't know, but the current methods are doing little other than to terrorize innocents abroad so that the citizens at home can feel safer. Are they any safer? All it takes is the desire to trade one's own life to accomplish acts of terrorism. That and a good plan... There are holes in any security system. All one needs do is to look for them. Shock and awe, sound and fury, signifying nothing. Players on a stage. Rj -

Well done! A Buchet 3L is what I have. More info anyone? Would love to know more about this bike and the manufacturer. Another point for engineering drawings! Rj -
Now chemistry isn't my thing, but I believe the "hydrate" part is what makes it attract the water molecules and make it burnable. The gas line antifreeze "unfreezes" lines by removing the frozen water blockage. Water in the gas isn't a big problem. There's always condensation in storage. Rain. It gets in there. Normal. We used to "de-coke" our old junker engines by dumping water down the carb at full throttle and watching the black smoke pour out the pipe. Why waste perfectly good alcohol when any gas station has Methyl Hydrate for a $1 a bottle? Rj

Nope - Buggery is out of the question. Although I seem to recall Napoleon was quite fond of it. Rj -

Ahhh I see - you meant 2 or 4 stroke... gotcha, and I don't know. Now if you're just going to guess French manufacturers who start with "B" - that's just not right! I'll say yes or no to any guess that includes both a manufacturer and displacement. Rj -

"freedom" is a relative term... and getting to be more so. Rj -
Water goes to the bottom. If it runs, it'll likely just blow it through the engine, no harm as long as it doesn't sit anywhere along the way. If it spurts and coughs, pour some Methyl Hydrate in the tank (gas line antifreze). Then it'll mix with the gas and burn nicely. Rj

This isn't looking good... So I guess I can assume that engine specs and a full set of engineering drawings won't be forthcoming... The first letter of the manufacturer is a "B". 2T or 4T - I don't even know what that means... -

If this is a year susceptible to spring breakage, I'd get it done under warranty, replace the pawl spring as per several threads here. Is the Nero a single plate clutch? Might get them them have a gander at it too. I see no harm in taking the gearbox down. You shouldn't (I'd think) have to tear the engine apart... If you're coming to the end of your warranty, why not get a good look at everything if you have a chance to do it on MG's nickel. Might find other stuff to warranty before it goes. Rj

Central Oregon trip report + pics
badmotogoozer replied to Mark in Hollister's topic in Travel & dealers
I really MUST get down to central Oregon again. I've never been to a place with nicer paved roads, so little traffic, beautiful scenery and twisty, twisty roads. In one day I remember going from rain forest, to sub zero and snowing mountain passes, to farmland, to badlands, to desert, and back to rain forest again. We have incredible riding up here in BC too but I can't imagine a better place to spend playing for a week or so. Beautiful pics! Rj -
Rear brake looks more stock than racer too. Without the owner confirmation, I would think this a replica, but who knows? Most original racers with history remain as they were raced, but who knows what owners have done? Very sweet bike none the less! Rj
