  1. As opposed to American "football" where the ball is rarely touched with the feet... Rj
  2. Better hurry. They've been burning them by the truckload since Brokeback Mountain. Rj
  3. If it went back together without it, then it couldn't have been important. When I finished my Triumph engine I had a mittful of stuff leftover. I have no idea where any of it came from but the bike's been running for years now... Having bits left over just means you must've had too many bits to begin with. A much better scenario than not having enough parts. Am I helping yet? I'm also the guy who likes to sneak a few extra mystery bits into the pile when the mechanic isn't looking... especially the ones who REALLY keep their bits organized. Good to exercise the noggin once in a while. Rj
  4. shite! glad to hear you're moving under your own power Steve! jackpot. get a lawyer. Rj
  5. Italy vs France for the final. I wonder who will surrender first?

It's perfectly legitimate. That is pipe strapping and it is holding a pipe on. Where's the criticism?? Rj
  7. Sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me. (What? No ball gag smiley??) Rj
  8. add air and water and you have my "Must Have" list. Rj
  9. Need something deep to throw money into? You need a boat! Rj
  10. Unibrow! I'd almost forgotten it... wicked stuff! Rj
  11. Add some lights and tinsel and you could park it in the living room at Christmas. The rest of the year that thing's just gonna be Hard on the peepers. Rj
  12. It's not bland after you get the chocolate sprinkles on it. Rj
  13. I once lost the tach drive on my 70 triumph. Pulled into a buddy's to try to fix the spewing oil so I could get her home. We popped a bottle of Chimay and I used the cork to stop the leak. After riding it like that for a while (lost the tach drive couldn't find another) I got to liking it and it was working just fine. So I safety wired the cork to a push rod tube (so if it fell out on a ride, I'd still have it - never did fall out) and drove it like that for several years. You could always tell the beer connesieurs in the gawkers as they'd always comment on the fact that a Chimay cork had been used. Good times, good beer. Rj
  14. Most of the recommendations on this site I take with a grain of salt. I'm inherently skeptical of anything on the misinformation highway. There are a handful of folks here who I do listen to and take every word as gospel. That's why I run nothing but 100% synthetic Thai yak fat in my bikes. Rj
  15. New bolt is in, and liberally smeared with green loctite (just to be different... ) In process of ordering springs... Almost kinda feeling good about the Guzzi for a change... don't let her hear that! Rj
  16. woohoo! Thanks ratchet! Just about everything has rattled off the bike at some point. I red loctite em back on again as they come off... That's good news! The mountain of work just got a fair bit smaller. cheers, Rj
  17. Looking again at the missing bolt in my trans I started to get a suspicion that it is external rather than internal. The bolt I'm missing is about an inch below the trans filler and directly to the rear. The first bolt you come to is missing. Is this a bolt that screws in from the inside (like the other two on that seal) or does it screw in from the outside (bolt head is visible)? If it is external I might have a lot less work to do to get the bird flying again. A leak I can deal with but if there is a bolt munching around the trans then I'll be grounded until I open the thing up. It is a 2001 Spurt thanks, Rj
  18. Mad? sorry, no. Sane people think they are going crazy. Crazy folk think they are getting saner... Rj
  19. There is not a thing that I like on this bike. Not often can I say that. But I do respect the effort and time that has gone into it. Rj
  20. When they start playing World Cup Soccer in the snow, Canada's gonna kick some ass! Let's see Brazil deal with sub zero playing conditions! Rj
  21. I'm looking at changing out my springs as part of the massive overhaul coming up. Talking to Todd about the Wilbers springs... He is saying Wilbers only carries one progressive spring (0.7-1.1kg) and they will spec fluid as well as air gap according to rider weight. This sounds different from what you are saying... comment? Rj
  22. Excellent! Now you can drink it AND sniff it... Rj
  23. something Definitely wrong here... should be ALOT tougher than that! Does it flake off like paint or does it chip off? Rj
  24. I'm too lazy to type out "throttle bodies" when "carbs" gets the job done. It's all relative ... No new dealer - I'll be taking care of everything from now on. I'm just not real happy about having another project bike. Rj
  25. Hmmmm... I wonder if this might have something to do with my horrendous mileage (22-24 mpg). All my idiot dealer did was mess up the carbs trying to lean it out. I doubt this would have occurred to them. I never thought of it either. Put that on the massive list of things to do/check. Rj
