  1. I borrowed one of those lift type stands from a friend to check how it would work with the Guzzi. Wasn't particularly happy with stability, but what I really hated was the next morning when I discovered it had "settled" back to the ground again!! Luckily, she had settled on her side stand. Very lucky all around, as I hadn't managed to get the rear wheel off due to the corrosion seizure... hadn't tried the front wheel... I immediately bought the Guzzi stand, which I trust now... but apparently others hate it so...
  2. My PC has attacked me on occasion. Two previous (and more devious) models have been beaten into submission with the keyboard. Rj
  3. wow! I have the Guzzi stand and find it very stable... though I had my doubts in the beginning. I can't imagine anyone putting more force on their bike than I had to use disassembling mine... we're talking 4 foot breaker bars here... and sledge hammers... Can you get it up on the stand again to check if the stand is not to spec in a certain spot? Rj, the guzzi barbarian
  4. I think they just proved that they can't... talk about target fixation! Rj
  5. My youth... I have trouble remembering last week... Rj
  6. I was just listening and checking out all the other bikes and sound files - spectacular!!! As for the fire - that was news to me - I don't spend much time watching the radio... tho' the glow from the tubes can be mildly entertaining... Tragic loss!! At least most of the important stuff was elsewhere... Rj
  7. My dog's name is Gromit. Brilliant animators. Rj
  8. TONKA yellow... Rj
  9. I think those external oil filters are just about the ugliest thing you could do to a Guzzi. barf city. Rj
  10. why on earth would they want to do that?? It's just not the Italian way... Rj
  11. God: Every time I try to talk to someone it's "sorry this" and "forgive me that" and "I'm not worthy"... Rj
  12. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries. Rj
  13. I fart in your general direction. Rj
  14. Doesn't help when you've got a plastic model Spitfire glued to your nose. Rj
  15. yup. but I think belgiancentauro's cafe racer is just about the hottest cool bike I've seen - at least Guzzi wise. Rj
  16. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...912642?v=glance all that is good in life, they put in the dog. all that is evil went straight into the cat. Rj
  17. pity... I had hoped you had been lured over to the dark side.... Rj
  18. excellent! Now I have 102 uses for a dead cat. Rj
  19. I keep spare valve cover gaskets and oil pan gaskets in stock. With frequent oil change and valve adjustment I know eventually I'll need one and I will be very happy to find it in its drawer when I do need it. Murphy dictates that when I tear one it will be two days before the dealer opens... Rj
  20. OK we're supposed to be bashing the Breva here, but since BFG is gonna take a shot at the Greaso... By jove, you've hit it! That's exactly what I don't like about the Grease pig. It's a confused thing... like an adolescent trying to fit in... but not sure where "in" is exactly... If it said Tonka on the side instead of Guzzi, it would be more convincing. Rj
  21. That's why evolution has given us 10 of them... you can afford to lose a couple along the way, and many are quite likely to. Rj
  22. Martin, while you're misappropriating the system, you might want to check if Broadmoor has lost a patient recently... Rj
  23. Thanks for the words of encouragement guys! I left her in the hands of the dealer for the warranty period - didn't want to void it... I can't believe they took it all apart for the trans recall and put it back together again without any grease. And the trans seal is leaking again - I"LL be fixing it proper this time!! I'll be taking control of her from now on, and once sorted won't be a problem anymore... I'm just a little miffed that I have to do all this at a mere 12K klicks. Rj
  24. pile of parts - engine in frame sitting on shop stand. Began early summer when I decided to strip down to transmission to fix transmission seal leak (AGAIN). Also needed rear tire. Should have been a weekend project. took all weekend just to get rear axle out. Everything rusted and seized together. No grease anywhere. Got worse from there. All bearings fubar - wheels, drive, headstock. Not a lick of grease from factory. I almost never ride in the rain - bike kept secure and dry. The amount of parts to replace/rework quickly became overwhelming and I shelved the whole thing out of disgust. Would have been nice if my dealer had said "better take it all apart and greaseit" when I bought it instead of "you should wax it". Mistakenly, I let the dealer take care of things as they arose... not too pleased with their performance either. It will be a winter project to get it all together by spring - then I'll have to deal with why the pig has always run like shite. Rj
  25. Advertise in the classifieds - BFG will likely try to low ball you. Hold out for a good price, he has an affinity for such things. Ebay not recommended as with only one bidder (BFG) it won't go for much... Rj
