It used to say on the can at what temp to set the paint. Sorry as I do not remember off the top of my head. But yes a heat gun on low will work fine. Or as mentioned especially for the case is to bring the temp up a bit while running and then let it cool. A couple of times should work fine. If you have ever painted headers it is the same idea as you will smell the paint. Smells good to me as an accomplishment if all goes well. I was going to suggest another cleaner but it is much harsher and would require allot more water. But if you have dirty or greasy parts it is hard to beat without going to a heavy duty cleaner such as Kerosene. And that is Castrol Super Clean. If you use this I would highly recommend a well ventilated area and gloves or it will peel skin lol. On a side note after replying to this thread last night or early this morning I started to go through the thread and I have to say that you have done some nice things to the New Scura. I will be especially interested in the suspension aspect and some little things you added such as the clutch and brake Rezoma Reservoirs.

I would just like to say two things. Wonderful hard work and I would suggest to either heat cycle the painted parts before hand or when assembled on the running drive line. It will make a huge difference on the longevity of the paint. Also since it was not stated that when using a stripper on porous materials a good strong cleaning of the parts is highly recommended or even using a good solution of hot water and dawn dish washing soap. Or to say it another way that stripper can work its way into the porous aluminum and when the bike is assembled and goes through the heat cycle any residue that soaked into the aluminum casting will create small craters in the paint when it gasses out. Just a heads up. If this was mentioned previously I apologize. On a further note I feel you made the right decision by not going with a crinkle paint as it is hard to make look right as well as adhesion.

Just jumping in this topic to learn as we all know Oil is changing fast not only due to improvements to oil technology but also due to the great ole EPA. The Oil I am currently using on my 96 KLR is Rotella T6 5W-40 Full Synthetic. So of course since the engine in the KLR is a different design to the Moto Guzzi I am all eyes on the correct lubricants needed in all aspects for the Moto Guzzi to help them live a long fun life.

I did run across the MRA web site. https://www.mrashop.de/com/selection-by-model/motoguzzi/v11-le-mans/

Very nice Windscreen. Do they make a taller one?

Rear Brake Retaining Pin Upgrade - 2002 and earlier

Very nice job indeed. But really I think it is actually protection from Alzheimer's disease just in case we forget to tighten something lol. And yep we all get there lol. -
I would think that the replacement True Roller bearing would be smoother and probably less prone to wear?
-
By the way, that's Harper's aftermarket shift lever. IMG_5368.jpg The shifts seem to take less effort and feel more precise. Will be getting the other onto the Scura soon. Scud maybe you could send your Harper's Shift Lever to Chuck to have some material removed. Okay allot of Material lol. Very nice though.

Nobody mentioned this as it may simply be a given but have you checked the valve cover hold down bolts as they simply might be loose.
-
Thank You Chuck e mail has been sent for your number calculations.
-
I do not even have a Guzzi as of yet but WILL lol. But like a few others requests if you do make another run I would sure be interested?
-
Any updates on the Bearing? This may prove to be good information for those that may need it and or those that just simply wish to improve what they have.
-
Maybe this will help and apply as while I was doing my searches I found something on replacing the factory inlet pipes with PVC pluming pipe for better flow. I mention this Docc as you probably know exactly what I am talking about? But yes I know then you did not have a good reason to have a Beer lol.
-
From the looks of the picture it looks as though your next project is a rear tire. I know I said this but really if you need any type of assistance just let me know? As I am sure that when I am able to get a Moto Guzzi I will most assuredly wear people out needing help lol.
-
Docc I have no idea what a Tekno is? Plus I am just a slow American so your measurements seem to be in metric where I am used to measurements in Standard. You know inches lol. But yes HDPE comes in many different type's and is a wonderful product to use depending of course on the loads and temperatures that it will have to withstand. It also machines well thus is very low wearing on equipment. If you should need help I will be glad to help all I can. Even though most things I make by hand I do also use some simple tools such as a band saw. And I also have a small Lathe. Believe it or not the flats I made flat and smooth by using and old No 3 and No 5 Stanley hand plane. HDPE cuts smooth as butter.

Then there you go. Go to your local plastics shop and you may find what you need in the scrap bin and for about $50.00 and some of your time and imagination you will have a saddle bag set up that should serve you well. Maybe not fancy but functional.

This is what the Pet and Horse saddle bags look like. Sorry if I spoke out of turn since this is not a Moto Guzzi. I just felt it might give some ideas. If I am way off base please feel free to remove these posts.
-
If you want some good cheap saddle bags then go to Pet and Horse.com and look up Versa Packs VP-100. Sorry I have no idea how to put a direct link lol. But they are pretty popular with the Enduro crowd. And did I mention cheap at only $19.94. There shipping is a little expensive so I would order more than 1 set or maybe some other stuff while you are at it. I am sure there must be places that make panniers for your Moto Guzzi to keep them off of the side of the bike and hold them in place. If not you can always make your own. I fell on my head and made my own for my KLR out of HDPE Delrin.

Well, if you *liked* the R90S, have a hard look at any Tonti LeMans. They are every bit as capable, maybe *more*reliable.. Guzzi didn't put the rectifier inside the engine cases, and more fun. Captain Obvious here, but as far as I'm concerned, a motorcycle is all about the motor. I've had 13 Guzzis of all sizes and types in the modern era, from the early V700 through the Norge, small blocks, big blocks, 2V, 4V, and I've loved every one of them. It's all about the motor. If you are a gear head, and it sounds like you are.. give one a try. They don't let you forget you are "operating a machine," one of the things I like best. I have to admit that I am a GEARHEAD lol. But no longer physically able to do what I used to do. Mainly work for hours on end. I could tell you about building Big Block Chevy stroker engines before there were stroker cranks available. Which means welding and off set grinding along with adding lots of mallory metal lol. Or having to box in the original 426 Himi rods so they might hold up to some abuse lol. And I still say they are boat anchors lol. But look neat. Even did some work on one of the first over 700 CI Big Block Chevy based engines lol. Down to simple stroker Type 1 VW's. You could be right in that it could be the reason I feel a draw with the Moto Pizza Guzzi . Especially the more I hear sound bites with some good exhaust systems.

From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remember'd; We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in England now a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day. Are we heading to battle? some could see a reference to battle. It pops up on the forum from time to time to reference the good times to be had while skinning ones knuckles and talking Guzzi with the like minded. As with Agincourt, no matter who is best, we are better. I am glad that this was clarified as it brings to mind more dire circumstances. On a lighter note I hope we all have many more good greasy years to come.
