  1. Thank you all for sharing wisdom and solutions. Really appreciate it. When there is a little bit more time, I'll anyway closely inspect all starter wiring, open and clean the ignition switch and replace the starter Relais with a turbo version. For now I wish all blessed riding weather, in the Netherlands it is still dry as can be 😊
  2. Update of weirdness: Went to the bike with the good battery. Went ahead with testing the starter: removed the plastic cover over the starter to access the connectors, to run a wire from the spade connector on the solenoid to battery Positive. Access to the connectors was still limited, but I noticed a spade connector not fully engaged on the solenoid(?). It is a thin wire and appeared brown. Do you guys know if this is earth? It seems incredible thin.. A picture is attached. I seated the wire well and thought lets see…: hooked up the battery and… it started right away. Had been a full year, but really only 2 seconds of cranking. More amazing was that the head light (that used to stay on after switching of ignition) turned off normal. Also the neutral light functioned normal again. Went for a drive and all was fine. One time it did not start (it primed, clutch switch reacted and neutral light worked), nothing. After 1 minutes it started right up again. So… depending on what that wire is: could this cause the headlight staying on issue, neutral light not illuminating and non cranking - in your opinion? Cheers from a still somewhat amazed but happy guzzi rider Vins
  3. So, the battery passed stress test gloriously: its fine and should make the bike start. Have not had the opportunity to visit the bike. The fact that in my bike (2004) uses the ignition switch to provide switching power to the start relay makes me hope that fixing/cleaning the ignition swicht might also solve the not crancing. Will surely also test the starter with a direct wire to battery. Vins
  4. You Guys are more than fantastic!!! Its clear that miss Guzzi is showing discontentment after 1 year of negligence in more than one way.... Plan of action: 1. Load test battery / replace; If its good, I'll next test the starter (run a temporary wire from the spade connector on the solenoid and touch it on battery Positive); If the battery its bad: that would probably be mean we have a running engine with a fresh battery; 2. do the ignition cleaning - perhaps that will make the headlight turn off after shutting of ignition and will fix the neutral dash light all together. Hope the storage owner allows me to do some tinkering at his place – but what could be possibly more fulfilling than that!? Wishing you a great day + THANKS! Vins
  5. Great observations, thanks for sharing wisdom in abundance! I didn't think of the neutral light switch, but this being faulty would not allow the fuel pump to prime and the start Relais to click, right? I'm definately going to do a stress test of the battery. If it's faulty a good clean of the ignition switch might hopefully kill two birds with two stones. I've changed the rectifier 2 years ago and checked all mayor connections, earth, and did the additional earth strap then.. Bike storage is quite far from my house unfortunately, but I have the battery with me. Thanks again and will report back 👍
  6. Hope you guys can make sense of this - I'm flabbergasted..! My 2004 Ballabio (well taken care of) has been stored in a dry garage for about 1 year and after reinstalling the tendered and charged battery I tried to start it. Fuel pump kicked in after switching ignition on and off for 3 times but after pressing the start button, only a click from the relais could be heard - no crancing. And now it comes: when switching off the ignition and removing the key from ignition the headlight stayed on!! Quite weird.... This never happened before storing the bike. Other observations: Neutral light didn't come on (was working fine before storing), other dash lights, indicators, high beam and horn worked normal. I've checked fuses and swapped relais but to no avail (have a spare). Headlight went out when removing its fuse. Battery measures 12.4V - Optimate charger indicates no issues with it. Anybody with an idea? Forum searching indicates this could this be an ignition key switch problem? Shall I open it and do the cleaning? But what is the logic of the headlight remaining on in relation to it sitting for a year?? And it is not crancking aswell... Is it a grounding problem? Both? https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/topic/16615-ignition-switch-problems/?_fromLogin=1 Any help is much appreciated Thank you, Vincent
