Death of road going 2 strokes?
jihem replied to Pierre's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
let's look at the positive side, shall we ? The end of two strokes in 500cc (now MotoGP) has been the rebirth of that class and altho some will get lost in the deal, sure, good things may come out of these new categories too. -
Death of road going 2 strokes?

yummy. any pictures or website dedicated to that cool idea ? a 70 HP twin motor in a 130 kgs bike is all we need -
it was between the throttle body and the filter. But it's fine now

you had it right: an air leak on the left hand BMC pod. You could barely see it but it had a lot of negative effect. It's fixed now. thanx all !
-
well, it could indeed be an interesting thing to do if the shop doesn't find anything. But the bike has changed a lot since the last map: it has now BMC pods instead of the frame as airbox...This said, if the poppings stops, or move along the scale, that would be a sign... i surely hope it's something that "simple".

yes, they are fine... mmhh..

hi all, My bike has developped a weird behavior. Last week, I took her to a dyno specialist, and prior to that all levels and check were made at a good Guzzi shop, meaning all valves, TPS, etc...were fine. Bike was running good I must say, if only it had that weird behavior at higher rpms which the dyno would tentatively take care of (the bike has a RS Scola cam, and a PC III, and it seemed like the Ghezzi frame wasn't allowing the newly testosteronized engine to breathe enough). The Dyno guy took the bike and enhanced all parameters as well as his experience and the numbers told him to. (I'm reasonably happy with the numbers as it's now 83 CV rear wheel, up from the stock engine at 60 CV (i have the official homologation documents). 30 % more rear wheel power isn't bad altho i really thought the RS cam would move the engine further up the CV ladder. The Dyno guy says he can tweak about 3 CV more without too much hassle. I wonder why he didn't then ) I went to get the bike, tried him for a few miles and, yes, the ugly dip at high rpms was gone, thanx to a good dyno ear and BMC pods. So, I paid and I left the dyno shop. A few miles later, the bike begins to pop, I thought I was about to run dry so I fill the tank. No, the bike would still pop like crazy, run on one cylinder (it's the left one that pops), then the idle would go up to 3000 rpms, then cut, go back to 3000, etc...But above 4000 rpms, the engine works fine. I succeeded going back to brussels, on the motorway (above 4000 the bike runs good). The morning after, I start it, hoping the phenomena was only due to the engine at warm temperatures (altho the PCIII doesn't care about heat apparently). It was exactly the same. So , i changed sparks, hoping that would solve it, altho both sparks were only a few weeks old. They were black, but new ones didn't cure the engine either. I have taken the bike to my regular shop, not a Guzzi specialist, but the mechanic there knows my bike very well and he's going to try to locate the problem as the Dyno guy would like him (they know and respect each other) to look out for things like a bad injector, or a coil or... before I eventually go back to the dyno. My reason for not going back to the Dyno shop directly is that he has no knowledge of guzzis, and no real access to parts so having the bike opened up there could be messy and long... What do you think ?

a few years ago, ok, a lot of few years ago , i went on a Euro trip on a bike, the japanese kind (that was a few months prior to see The Light). Motorbikes used to pass borders quite easily back then, actually i usually didn't even have to really stop, just slowly passing on the side and showing your passport, having it check and stamp real fast was enough for most of the borders. That day, I was passing from Italy to then-Yougoslavia. Oddly enough, the Yougoslavian guard wanted me to stop and displayed his order by doing an autoritarian STOP HERE, with his finger pointing at the ground, just in front of him. My bike had bags all over, and it wasn't very easy to manoeuvre at slow speed so i kinda made my way to him, stopped, and extended the side stand. On his left foot. Boy, he was mad

Once , in People's Republic Of Benin (Africa), I was arrested by a soldier. It was early 80's, they were in the middle of a revolution and were totally into it with martial signs like "Down With The Capitalists Pigs" and "Watch Out For The Spys", everywhere .... So, it was at a barrage between Cotonou and Lome (Togo), just two guys with their machine guns doing vehicle controls. He immediately put his AK-47 near my neck and was extremely menacing. I came down from the Honda 500 Four I was riding, the AK still in my neck. He was getting very nervous, and ask me brutally where I come from, where I was going and what am I going to do there...In situation like that, you have no time to elaborate, so i thought about what things we had in common and could cool him down. I told him"I'm going to Lome to see a woman, to see a woman". The guy looked at me, and exploded in laughs, his AK 47 was no longer up, we sat down, had a couple of cigarettes. And talked about girls and bikes

hi all, A friend of mine just bought himself a lovely 749, with crash protectors fitted on his fork and two on the side of the fairing. Looks quite discreet and as he does trackdays often, one never knows... i tried to locate some for V11, but couldn't. Anyone knows who does them ? thanx !

1982 Ducati 900SS
jihem replied to helicopterjim R.I.P.'s topic in Special place for banter and conversation
there's one brand new 1985 Mike Hailwood Replica 1000cc on sale in Switzerland. It has 13 kms on the odometer...They want 21.000 US greenies for it but it's been there for ever... So, I doubt a 900SS, which is "more common" than the MHR ,will go for more than, let say, 15.000 $...But of course, I can be wrong and it'll find THE person who wants a genuine zero miles 900SS with lots of woods for its fireside. -
and have you seen the speed of these Ducatis ? more than 320 km/h...

is there such a thing ? (cliché)

I love the fact that they love the three others, and have large puppet-like representation of Hayden, Melandri and Capirex, but BOUM KABOUM there's that HUGE brazilian carnival truck with a gigantic Rossi on it, and go go girls dancing the voodoo away ! That's real passion
