i want to thank all for the feedback on this. I'm not being anal retentive about the numbers, but before getting my hands dirty and my wallet out, i wanted to know "ze" numbers, and I have been both disapointed and quite amazed at the same time. Disapointed cos the numbers don't quite match what's happening on the road (the bike is much faster than a V11, even if it's 20 kgs lighter, but the RWHP is barely the one found on a stock V11) and amazed cos torque is immense (9 kg) but it's curve is...wild. so, all i know at this point is not much really ...i'm looking at options but it seems like there's already one opening its arms: a stock V11 cam will already be better than the EV cam my STW seems to have...
-
yes, i've heard some saying that STW are using EV cams, but it has been denied by bruno. i dunno. I'm really puzzled.
-
i was there a month ago: they seem very competent. on your way there, you have to pass thru brussels. What about a cuppa coffee ?
-
i aggree, but as I want to start work on the engine, i need to know where we are so far. and i'm not sure the numbers are really correct, cos the bike feels and seem faster than the numbers on the bench. yes, it's lighter than a normal V11. which could be ok for an explanation on its relative speed and acceleration. But if the engine hasn't been touched and is "graced" with freer (race) exhausts and EVR eprom, it should at least make more than a stock V11, no ? i'm puzzled (and very wet as the weather sux...)

i know...it's very odd. the numbers are very low, but the bike goes like a bullet...

just got back from a totally soaked 150 kms trip to a Fuchs bench with my STW 1100 (level 2 ecu ands exhausts). I wanted to see exact numbers before getting down and add a few HP here and there...(maybe). the numbers are disappointing, only 71 Hp at the back wheel and the 9 mkg torque is at...4270 rpm..., and i don't know exactly how i should read all this. to start with, the bench guy didn't of course have GB in his machine, so he took the 1100 sport numbers (same gearbox). Somehow, his machine wouldn't give proper readings and he had to redo it a couple of times. Needless to say they don't do twins nor guzzi (it's a multi marques place). what's really strange is the torque curve...overall number is good, but it's way down the curve... what's really strange (2) is while the 87 HP (crankshaft) is very low at the wheel (71 HP), i have yet to encounter a V11 which is faster than the STW in pure acceleration and overall speed... it's odd as the bike goes really well, pings once in a while, doesn't stall, accept every invitation to accelerate, has great braking power, etc.. what do you guys made out of that ?

it has to be an hoax, or it's not with a Guzzi engine >The 3 wheeler is running very well, it idols like a sewing machine. Has top compressin and no oil leak. No electrical problems.

congrats ! But i have to confess I love the RC30 too

i'm belgian, and we're known for our surrealist type of humour well, not me, i'm known for having no humour at all. anyhow, i'm glad the movie did bring feelings out, it's definitively a success then

thanx. altho i'm certain it's all down to the weighted end bars being from S*Z*K*
-
hi all, i've placed S*z*k* OEM weighted end bars on my clip ons. I'm not sure i like the result: i have not been able to make a decent trip with them yet, but in town they seem to vibrate more as my hands are tickling when they weren't without weighted bar ends. Can it be that the weight makes in fact things worst ? merci

saw the movie yesterday, with my 14 years old son. He really liked the movie, altho he's not really a bike enthusiast. i was quite disappointed by the movie in fact. I know Hopkins' previous performances and this one didn't strike me at being anything special. I wouldn't say it's really a movie about bikes, it's a roadmovie about a guy longing to get more out of life. The movie is ok, altho very cheesy at times and I wonder if Burt in real life was half as great as how he is shown on the screen. this said, this movie has sprinkle quite a few thoughts in me and i read an interesting review on some site where they pinpoint something intruiging: Burt Munroe, in the movie, always asks for something to the ppl he meet. But they seem to be the ones getting something back. How is that for giving this movie a cult status ? ( it has already acquired from all the messages i've seen...) btw: i love"On Any Sunday".

that Griso 850 is worst than porn...

it has always been that way: when Ducati isn't winning, no one minds them and they all say 'underpowered twin'. No one was complaing in Quatar... And when they win, the loosers are fast to say it's always because of some advantages (it was weight for a few years and when they killed the weight advantages, the ducatis were still winning) ducati has given to them by the SBK rules. So, now it's traction control ? I've heard no one complaining Honda has it and they even have a state of the art electronic steering damper...So, Ducati has been developping bold electronic assistance systems (clutch automatic revving system, now available on the street going ducatis) and they work to great effect. Chew on that one, Corser the bike is just great and Bayliss is awesome. that's all
-
the Ducati was defintively slower than the multis at the first races, in Quatar. Obviously, no more, and Bayliss is just flying...
-
yes, i second that. The ducatis are very strong this year and are only let down by the tires. Rossi won't win the championship imho. Hayden may have a chance, but my money is on Melandri. I think if Rossi stays on two wheels, he'll go to Ducati. Troy Bayliss ? Awesome. You just have to read Corser's statements to undertstand how unstoppable Bayliss is. I was thinking the ducatis would never make it in Monza this year cos the multis are quite faster but if they win there, they'll win everywhere... gee, am i bold or what and this only monday morning

i passed one the other day. It looks SO HORRIBLE from the back. If you think the 999's exhausts are bad, check the one on this beemer...
-
i wouldn't go for Bridgestone. look how badly they failed Capirossi and Gibernau, not to mention Hopkins and Vermeulen, in the Turkish MotoGP... i know the tires aren't coming from the same mould and gum but i guess a little gesture of solidarity would send the correct message to the Bridg's HQ :)
-
look at the travel of that exhaust !!! that can't be too interesting...
-
i'm often out with ducati bikers, and for them guzzis ppl look more like the last real motorbikers, the ones with the spirit as it used to be... coming from ducati fans, i'm not sure it's a positive comment
-
hello Pille, being in belgium too, i'm pretty sure we'll meet sometimes soon ! i mean our country is so small i cant even use fifth on my bike
-
there's a "slight" pb with the pic. it seems to be nothing but datas...
-
good one ! punters on a race track HATE to be passed by a guzzi. it's like the world turn inside out for them

i was merely fwd an info about WSBK capacity, seeing it was opening up, and thinking...hmmmm, why not. See, Ducati loses sales when they lose races. The big manufacturers don't really depend on it, probably cos their range cover so much ground. I don't know how HD came into AMA SBK, but I guess it wasn't with a low profile. Guzzi is like the rugged outlaw: he doesn't have to be anything but himself to win the girls with an history like it has, roots deeply engraved in racing, but also an actual range more into "non-racing" bikes, the candidature of Guzzi in WSBK can only be perceived as "cool, sympathic and quite charming". They don't need to win races, they will be the underdog and can capitalize on that empathy factor. we just have to see here: the MGS01 makes second at Assen, or win a side competition at Daytona, and to us its like they win it all ! Imagine what a good PR can do with that...
