  1. look on MotoGp.com, the Ducati boys are very fast on race trim. They are among the few ones that can lap tour after tour in the 1'50". I wouldn't be surprised if a red machine ends up on the podium. or even further ;-)
  2. it's an awesome bike, yes. and it does awake the hooligan in us. But sitting on it and looking down at all the plastic sh*t they armoured the bike with made me feel kinda...i don't know....cheap ;-) I rode a black one. it just will laugh at most if not all sportbikes around on real roads. It is very amazing how fast it goes and how fast you get confortable at using it.. fast. it truly is great tool. but it misses a heart. i think.
  3. hmmm....i will soon add a damper to my bike. Sorry for asking, but do you sell Ohlins parts ? bedankt,
  4. YES ! getting there ! :-)
  5. i was afraid you would say that ;-) (thanx anyway) my concern is....hmmm....is there a way to grease the darn thing without removing the wheel ? ciao, jihem:)
  6. hi :-) i'm trying to access the small greasers on the shaft. Does anyone have a special trick, or use a special tool to grease them things ? And has anyone ever been able to grease the one closer to the engine... thanx :-) jihem
  7. thanx for the link ! i love the way the team handle it all in such a great latine, alive, warm and caring way ! this is part of why i love italian bikes: you can still feel the human fiber and the love for life thru something basically only mechanical. look at the 5 minutes hugging part: it's foookin' brilliant :-)
  8. i read ya, i had the same reservations, but I didn't listen too closely ;--) to them and have already been on Francorchamps, the old Nurburgring, Folembray and Croix-En-Ternois with my GB and it's always a pleasure (except Croix cos it's too tight and technical and the Ghezzi ain't no fun in those cicumstances). I'm very glad you enjoy your new babe :--) Seems like you too have troubles with the Paioli fork...mmmh, I soon will placed a steering damper on my bike as i have experimented a few tankslapping too many on bad roads. We already highered the back Ohlins one knob so there's more solidity on the front. I am also experimenting with the diverses set up of the bike, but it's hard. This Ghezzi is a rock on good roads, but can be a bitch on bad pavements and there's plenty of that around here... As for the throttle, i find my Ghezzi well balanced: lots of hicups when cold, but very smooth when warm. Just one bad point: when the throttle isn't really applied, like on a small opening à-la-keith-code, it does sometimes hesitate whether it's on or not and you can feel once in a while some hesitations. The gearbox is as good as the old 5 will ever get ;-) Braking is good, i aggree. vibrations ? Hmm, i have a rough spot between 4.5 and 5.2. I'm soon to be placing heavier bar ends, that shoudl take care of the unwanted sinus wave. I find the track THE place to be for the Ghezzi: when the track surface is smooth and it wipes nicely, this bike is just a dream come true.
  9. it must be a wild feeling... I mean, it's very rare to see Benelli Triples or MV1000, you know, rare bikes...but a race-only bike legalised for street use... cool you finally are able to drive her around ! jihem:)
  10. awesome..... And how does the bike feel on the track ? jihem:)

    Hot 990 Duke video

i will never be able to do a tenth of what the stunter does on the video, but i did rode one of them SuperDuke and, yes, it surely can do all that ! it's an amazing bike, altho it's really terribly ugly and i don't wanna hear the beauty is in the eye of the beholder as one second sitting on the bike and looking down at the controls will show you how BAD it looks. But it goes like f********, brakes very well, is light and agile, it accelerates like if there was no tomorrow. And it doesn't make your back and your wrists hurt. :-) it's actually pretty similar to the way an Aprilia RSV reacts. the most amazing thing is how fast it can be. A friend of mine owns one (he had several big ducati's before) and it's very funny to see that trailie looking thing eating up R1's and GSXR's as soon as the roads start to swirve a bit.

    headshake

i had terrible tankslappings on my bike. And i was baffled for explanations and/or solutions. I changed tyres, i changed pressures in tyres, I even changed way of riding the bike, etc... eventually i did the right thing: i went to see a shop SPECIALISED in suspensions set - ups. they looked at the fork, the back susp, they tweaked it all and now the bike is back like it should: IT'S A RAIL. try that before selling the bike, you may fall in love again !
  13. no one beats a good old jamaican ska if you want to talk bands and ganja... you should listen to Big Youth's "C90 Skank": you can even hear the sound of the allmighty moped at the beginning ;-)
  14. funny you should say that: I spoke yesterday with this motorbike journalist who was telling me his articles on major bikes were very often censored as you can't have a word out of place when it's about a BIG factory releasing an important bike. Easy: because importers and shops place ads in the mag, they don't want their campaign to be ruined by some journo's diatribe...
  15. hey, i like the fact that some of you are still, or where, enjoying edgy bands... personally, i cannot stand it when there's a motorbike related reportage on telly, and the soundtrack is oh no not again "Born To Be Wild"...They should use stuff from Black Rebel Motorbike Club....
  16. sorry to hear about the damage on the Guz'... i know it has 2 wheels too many, but isn't the Prius the car with the hybrid engine ?
  17. i used to do it, but my wife hated it when i was wheeling the whole 15 steps of the staircases leading to the first floor.
  18. i read that too. It actually was about a detuned yamaha R6, less HP but more torque and yes, everyone thought it was faster. jihem:)
  19. my bike vibrates terribly at 5000 rpm on fifth gear, which is about 150 km/hour. It's kinda strange as it's very bearable below that, and tends to be again quite bearable above 5500 rpm. So, it's just that spot which is plagued by bad vibes. As i usually like to travel on motorways at that specific speed, it can be pretty annoying...Will the Manic Salamender stuff get rids of the bad spot ? jihem:)
  20. looks like someone really misses the ol' Munch Mammuth seat...
  21. soory ;-) G i u s e p p e. ok, i'll write it down 100 times and you'll have it on your desk by tomorrow morning :-) well, so it was said at the MG dealers meeting in Barcelona, a few months ago. Don't shoot me, i wasn't there, but it has been "reported" to me that production will go down to fewer bikes a year and only tourism bikes, no more sport bikes: California and Breva with lotta leather bagages and that type of stuff ...this is why I was surprised to see the pics with G I U S E P P E, with MG tshirt, around a MGS01, a model known for not selling too well... but, hey, I cheer this podium also :-) jihem:)
  22. What team is it exactly ? Is Guisseppe Ghezzi managing it ? Is he still at Guzzi despite the fact that Piaggio doesn't want anymore sporty MG models? And if he is, can we the say it's an official MG racing team ??? jihem:)
  23. I didn't first have tankslapping problems on my GB Supertwin as the handling and stability of that bike was flawless when i bought it new. the bike was sold with Dunlop 207. later, i changed them to Dunlop 208, and problems started there: a few hundred kms after i got the new tyres, i could feel the bike being a tad nervous on junctions and motorway ramps and access: the front would wobble slightly. It only got worst to the point where i couldn't ride hard the STW no more, and then even when riding 'calm" the bike would start dancing around...The tyres were still good and looked fine. But i was so scared, i decided to changed the front 208 by a new 207. all the wobblings are gone now: the front tyre was 'just' being worned in small, nearly invisible steps...Problem is: you could hardly see the front tyre was f*cked...
