It is very helpful to get your existing ones checked...fully agree, that will very clearly state if you have a spray problem or not. But financially...it's minimal risk to buy aftermarket ones...even if they only last 5 years!
  2. I wouldn't assume he checked them to the level of your user expectations. But injectors are super easy to change, and there are plenty of cheap alternatives, plus not far from you is an Injector Cleaning Service company. But honestly, for $30 bucks you can get new injectors (not OEM) and that's about the cost of doing an injector cleaning. Very cheap, and easy to see if that helps improve the problem...if not, then it's not that much of a hit to the pocket book. You can find injectors on Ebay very easily.
  3. Is there one or are there two injectors? Perhaps those are due for a cleaning or replacement?
  4. Sounds like an interesting if not altogether rewarding day nonetheless, but not well planned or explained in advance. Unfortunately I don't know anything about the Quota fueling issues, is there a forum that exists for Quota owners or a Facebook page. Perhaps someone has some insights into the jerky fueling and potential cures. The bike looks great out in the dirt...seems to be in its element. Does Beetle have any knowledge of the fueling system for Quotas? Nice that you had a chance to talk a bit more extensively with David C....our flyby in Bandera didn't leave much room for chatting other than picking up the numbered flags. He and Lone Star Rider are going to be at Motorheads Museum in Burnet in early November, I stopped by there on my trip to Kansas last week while picking up the remaining stops on the Grand Tour and it was open, so I had a chance to visit finally as on all prior occasions I would get there when they were closed. They have an IMMACULATE Eldorado in there, along with several other very cool bikes and a cool Steve McQueen exhibit as well.
  5. West Texas sunsets...some of the best! The Quota is looking great!
  6. Very much so...temps most of the day were 98F to 102F....when it gets down to low 90's or high 80's, it feels positively cool! You're right about the wing...very smooth, one of the things that "hooked" me was the new sharper design compared to the older versions, and it's lighter as well compared to the prior models. It's truly a dream to drive...having spent the last 15 years on Guzzi's, all of which I still ride a lot I'm tickled to have a Wing that is this smooth...
  7. Excellent!! Yes…the upper left and far West Texas felt like a real stretch…I did 2 days, approx 1200 miles leaving home to get those last 14 stops…felt great but it’s a long couple of days of riding! All in all just back from Kansas a few hours ago…did a nice 2000 miles from Wednesday last till today. I had a nice stopover at the Hotel Texan and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast chatting with the owner. I’ll do next year as well…it’s a great excuse to ride!! Looking forward to hearing about the group ride!
  8. Today I complete my last stop…#50! On my way up to Kansas for a couple of days at a small rally… There are still 2 or 3 more stops I’d like to do just for fun and historical significance… Along the way I managed to fit in a few other important musical locations for renowned artists from the past…I’m sure some of you will appreciate the stops! Some of the night riding was just spectacular!
  9. The museum! Nice!! The only time I’ve visited it was closed unfortunately…but just being there is wonderful! I really wanted to see the original Norge…what a grand adventure he had on that bike! Do you suppose that V11 also has a cough at 3 k RPM’s? 😊
  10. Seafoam Bugs B Gone… A good quality Ceramic all in one spray clean and wax combo after the washing makes a nice shine and much easier to clean the next time also…
  11. As a long time Beetle customer, I have purchased his maps for my Norge and Griso, I would recommend Nuevo reach out to Beetle for a map. He has invested significant amounts of time and effort and should always be compensated for his work. He's very responsive and easy to work with...you can find him via his website as posted above or go to Griso Ghetto where he is very active as well and send a PM. I'm happy to help with local Guzzidiag activities, but I can't share Beetle's map without his permission.
  12. Adding to the fun and mirth this thread allows...each of the riders, often have a nickname. Valentino Rossi - aka The Doctor (Il Dottore) Fabio Quartararo - El Diablo (The Devil) or El Pascal Maverick Vinales - Top Gun for obvious reasons Miguel Oliveira - Einstein (since he likes to stick his tongue out like the original AE) Marc Marquez - Baby Alien, or as I like to call him the King of COTA (Austin race track), I"m sure others call him Beelzebub or other more derogatory terms too. Francesco in Italian, Pecco for short is just like Francisco in Spanish, with Paco for short...quite similar Amongst friends, we call each other by last names as a term of endearment, I see some folks like to call each other by their initials...although that's a bit more of a southern style.
  13. Just for a fun experiment, I've ordered a new set of coils (Ducati pricing is 50% of Guzzi pricing for the exact same part) and will see that that makes any difference at all. If not, then it's purely a fueling issue with no electrical contribution in which case back to asking for an updated map with small gaps in the table as suggested above. The quest continues! I looked at Beetle's website, he doesn't have any V11 maps there as far as I can see...but I could have sworn he used to have them.
  14. Scura also equipped with Ohlins damper…must match the shocks front and rear. 😊 At least mine is…I hope all the other Scuras also.
  15. That's interesting, it's theoretically the original spacer...I had examined it for any deficiencies but couldn't see anything, but very worthwhile to buy a new one and see if that solves the issue. Thanks again Phil. Enjoy Roma...and some delicious gelato!
  16. Wow...digital average of 29 mpg is incredibly low...unless that is mostly city driving. Something is off for sure. Even when i'm just doddling around in the city, I'm around 37 mpg, then averages for rides in the 42 mpg range...unless I'm really hammering it. Let us know what you find.
  17. Has the mileage always been this low or just recently? Reason I ask is when I got my new tires put on recently in June on the Norge…immediately thereafter my mileage dropped from 42 mpg to 37mpg….I found that the shop had over tightened the front axle and fork pinch bolts and the wheel was barely turning when suspended in the air. Fixed that and my mileage went back up to 42. You might be also running rich….have you pulled the plugs to see if they are sooty? Tire pressures set somewhere between 36-40? cheers!
  18. Here's the conspiracy theory...had they been bunched up all together, Alex would have been the hitman to take out Bagnaia to ensure Marc would win...what's odd here is he did it with a 5 second cushion to Jorge...makes no sense...but maybe Alex thinks he can become Marc by crashing more often.
  19. Hi Mike...I presume you're inquiring for your Norge. It's a lot easier to buy a Beetle map for the Norge and save your original map to your computer using the Reader, then upload your new Beetle map using the Writer. After that follow all the steps in Guzzidiag to make sure all the steps are done...including resetting TPS electronically, Autolearning parameters are done...and you're ready to go. If you have an aftermarket exhaust pipe, look for the map that is mentioned on Beetle's page with that exhaust brand/model, and if you don't see it, send him a message, and he'll make one for you.
  20. I’m wondering…do the other V11 variants like the California, Vintage or any other V11 (excluding the Lemans, Ballabio, Scura, RC, Coppa,Nero) also suffer from this elusive 3K cough?
  21. Very interesting…thank you!
  22. Hi P6X... Had another great run today on the Scura, no rain unfortunately but a picture perfect day thru the forest, lunch at Classic Rock, a spirited run on 3090 up to Yankee Tavern and then back down thru the forest. Let me know one day if you're headed out on the Quota we can meet in Bellville or Navasota...would like to see the new addition to the fleet!
  23. That was very educational...thank you Phil. I'm going to read that a couple more times. Just back from a nice 150 miler on the Scura...I was also pondering whether or not this has a component of electrical to it, and not just fuel. Is it possible that aged coils (I don't know if they are original, but I'm curious if I were to find a brand new pair) if that would make any difference on providing a better quality spark. With fresh plugs and very fresh wires, the only thing I've never changed on the bike are coils. I've got some old used California coils...maybe interesting to try them out. Overall, so my "sensation" of the lower RPM cough occurrence at around 2750 vs 3K prior, am I interpreting that correctly from your description above? The bike is such an amazing bike to ride...I'd like to continue on the eternal quest for perfection... Mileage appears to be in the 40-42mpg range, so that seems satisfactory also.
