  1. Sounds like the Duc will be an interesting beast...numbers are only a part of the experience, the rest sounds rather like unconstrained fury (in a good way). K-bike looks nice and well maintained, I had a blue K1100LT many years ago...an interesting experience, although I'd have to say the Guzzis are more enjoyable in most aspects.
  2. Swoosh...yes...moves about the same amount, a tad less on mine. What did you end up doing to fix it, if anything, or just accept it as normal as docc has said? Thanks Guzzimoto...will take a look. Replacement OEM runs about $320...so I'll compare price on the Shindy. I'm guessing then that this "free play" is for fork compression to allow a bit of angle change while still allowing the damper to function linearly.
  3. Interesting...how did you figure out which is the right one for the V11? Looking at their site, I just see dampers for Harley and other Japanese bikes.

  5. If by Rose joint, you mean the center anchoring joint vs. the end mount, then yes...that's where the movement is. I see about a 1/16 of an inch movement, you can see the frame of the steering damper be flush and then rotate open a bit. The "free play" is inside that circular mount where the hex bolt goes thru. There seems to be a little spider screw there as well, but on mine at least it does not appear to be adjustable, and my hex bolt is as tight as it can get, so I'm guessing there's looseness in the washer/mechanism inside that circular mount. If that's normal...great, but it feels sloppy to me.
  6. A side benefit (tongue in cheek) of having taken off the tank to do a few repairs on filter/fuel hose etc...is checking everything else on the bike and finding stuff to fix! So far all else is good, but I notice that the steering damper (part # 01530230) has quite a bit of free play in it at the center mounting point. Tried tightening up the hex bolt there at the center mounting point, but to no avail, so I'm assuming that I need either a new bracket or washer/filler to tighten this up, and hopefully not needing to replace the actual steering damper, which feels smooth and with no catches from side to side. Have others had success sourcing an equivalent mount or have you done some other fix here, as this particular part is not sold separately by Guzzi. Feels like an important item to fix so the mounting bolt doesn't break, as in that case, for sure I'll have to buy the whole damper. Mille grazie...

It does seem to "look" more like a sport touring setup although the front end is Lemans-ish with the fairing/mirror setup and Norge-ish with all the plastic fairing bits, but I wonder how it will feel w/o the bags on it. Nice you had a good reason to take it for a ride!! Pie run!! I frequently ride the Norge on local rides w/o the bags and it does have a notably different "feeling" of lightness (probably because my bags are usually full of long distance gear etc.). This is a nice looking Ducati indeed...adding some variety to the fleet here. Curious to see how it grows on you over time, or will it feel too tame by comparison to the more visceral Guzzi feeling you are used to? A few months ago I saw the new Triumph Thruxton out on a demo day (w/o rides unfortunately...only available for looking at), I'm curious to take it for a spin and see what it feels like compared to the Scura.

  9. Lovely...flat smack in the middle of the 2 weeks I am travelling in May...no can do. Will just have to detour a little bit on the way up to Cedar Vale to catch some of these roads anyway. Enjoy the Spine raid...someone ought to show Spinal Tap one evening for fun!

  11. Any place I wouldn't take my Norge or Scura...I'm looking at forest roads, nothing extreme like where we go with the Rover, but many of the dirt, gravel and overland trails...I'm not looking for a rock hopper or a trials type bike.
  12. I keep looking at it over and over, and I like it a lot. Granted it doesn't have the full specs of the true full on ADV, but that's OK..it will still do 90 % of the job for off roading.
  13. Winter...it's the season to ride! Much nicer riding in winter down here on the Gulf Coast than the beastly 98% humidity / 100F heat of summer time. Time to rack up the miles...! Have yet to see a Greenie down here in Houston or another Scura...rare as hen's teeth around here...seen 1 LeMans! While the Scura is waiting for the O-rings and new fuel filter to arrive, I had to take the Norge out for a spin yesterday on a picture perfect day...Scura definitely feeling neglected!
  14. That's another item I have to test as well, as mine is not possible to turn by hand. Got the Scud fuel line yesterday (thanks Tim), now waiting on the O-rings from Harpers, and have to find a Y or T to join the vent/overflow lines together. Luckily I've got some extra vent hosting from the work done a few months ago.

  17. How are other's setup? Left nipple open w/o a tube? Right nipple down vented with a tube? T-d together and vented off to the side? Each nipple vented separately?

Resuscitating an older thread since I have my tank off, and comparing it also to the schematic from the V11 book which only shows one tube attached to the nipples, but from the view of the schematic, it seems like the tube is attached to the left nipple rather than the right one. Either the book is wrong or the "depth perception" is misleading. My tube is currently attached to the right nipple as it came off the bike. Do most folks T these 2 nipple vents together, leave the left one open and the right one vented with a tube or do some other combination thereof? Thanks,
  20. Good idea Docc! Thanks for the reminder, I'll go thru that and see if I missed anything. Some work has just been recently done also by Mike At MPH...the Chuck tips from Cedar Vale I had written down and a Roper plate was installed too. Once I get some more free time I'll have it back to Mike to replace the Clutch/flywheel.
  21. According to the package tracker, the new Scud Fuel Line should be delivered tomorrow and installed on SCUZZI shortly thereafter! The bike is all disassembled and waiting for the new fuel line, plus a couple of new O-rings from Harpers going in as well. Good thing is that all other lines, cables, connectors look like they are in great shape, everything snug and tight, and I even found a small missing hex screw for the left hand throttle body where the cable comes in wedged into a small nook. That had been missing I think since I bought the bike, so quite happy it has survived the miles ridden to date snugly and comfortably wedged into a tight spot waiting to be discovered and put back in its proper place. Thinking I might want to replace the fuel filter while I'm at it since the tank is off anyway...then time to rack up some miles as we have the most beautiful weather ahead of us at the moment.
