  1. Roger that! Thank you very much!
  2. Has anyone found a good source (link?) for high quality spark plug wires that will work on the 2002 Scura? The MG sites I've looked at do not specify anything for the Scura, only earlier models. The "generic" build them yourself seem to leave doubt about the resistance in the cap...bit of a guessing game. Nothing reliable on Ebay either other than used stuff, would prefer new. Thanks in advance!
  3. Thanks Guys...will send a PM to Meinolf for the Scura bin map.
  4. Out of curiosity, is this the same BIN file that would work on a 2002 Scura? Thanks!
  5. Nice pics...looks like you had a fun ride out and back on the Beemer. Was indeed a fun day at the races on Sunday...had a much shorter ride than you did...only 150 miles from Houston to Austin on the Griso. Perfect day at the track, good race and a nice ride up and back! Guzzi tent was quite nicely stocked too with new bikes, the V85 and quite a few lookers. Can't wait for Formula 1 now in NOvember back at COTA!
  6. I'll be riding up Sunday morning...will probably hit Blacks on the way out of town after the race with my friend Tom who will be there on his Stelvio... No tickets available at turn 1, but was able to get a ticket at Turn 15... I'll probably wander over to Turn 1 during the practice sessions...will see if I can find you John there before the start of the race. Cheers.

  8. Nice car collection indeed!
  9. Well...there's nothing written in stone that you have to watch the race from the same spot, right? You can always meet up after the race...so each can park and watch from wherever is good...
  10. Hands off the blue one...that will be mine thank you very much!!
  11. As a friend of mine once said...one doesn’t go on vacation to save money! Motorcycle parking is free anyway no matter where you park, So he could park outside, you could park at Ducati Island...and then just walk up from there! I do hope there is a more competitive race this year, as much as I like Marquez it would be fun to see Rossi win here too!!
  12. Agreed...it's a trek if you have to park that far away...I don't blame you! Turn 15 is fun to see how far they lean...but turn 1 you do have a better longer view at the beginning and middle of the race, as you can see turn 20, the long stretch, the climb up the hill and turn 1 bunching and bumping...so it's better than turn 15/16. At the end of the race, it's usually Marquez leading by 2-5 seconds depending on how far he's stretched and that's impressive to see him cresting the hill at Turn 1 while the next guy is just making the turn onto the straightaway! Either way, the whole atmosphere is festive...the food sucks, but the environment is great. Every other year I ride the elevator to the top of the tower to watch the planes fly by...great overview of the track and area.
  13. For a couple years I sat at Turn 1, Turn 15/16, stood at turn 19 and even sat in the grandstands at COTA, now I just wander around and catch it from various angles rather than staying at one location...but depends also on the weather too... Grisos are always welcomed in general moto parking...Scuras & Grisos don't need no stinkin' Ducati island!
  14. Next time I'm in Parma, I'd like to visit these guys...great short video!
  15. Tasty!! Are you bringing that to COTA?
  16. Last I spoke with Mike Haven here in town (Houston) at MPH, he still had a couple of the Roper plates, I had bought one from Scud, and Mike had an extra couple at the time last year. Try contacting him directly...best way to reach him is via the MPH FAcebook page.
  17. I'm definitely planning to ride up on Sunday morning, and I could do a Black's run after the race if you guys want to, unfortunately the week after, I have to travel for work, so I can't join in the fun with the Twisted Sisters..
  18. That's interesting, I rode the Scura up and didn't get to bring it into Ducati Island...I presume this is a benefit then only for the corner workers, not the general populace? Hard to see who is going to dethrone Marquez....he's the King of COTA!
  19. Lovely piece of kit there...I also got lucky very recently to get my hands on one thanks to an observant WG member who put me in touch with the owner, and it's in the garage now...brand new, never used. Paid $125 bucks for mine, but I think the going market rate is closer to $200. Thinking of getting it powder coated as silver with Scura doesn't really match well...so probably black is the answer.
  20. Less weight? ("Add lightness . . ." . . . Colin Chapman) Aha...memories of Kundera's Unbearable LIghtness of Being...all clear now!
  21. Would 20% more power or 20% more mpg result in 20% more fun? Whichever does that...I'm for it. All the Guzzis I'm riding have plenty of power and get very decent mileage and are loads of fun, but one can never have too much fun. Mileage is just an economic impact for the most part (other than fueling intervals), power usage depends on the roads ridden, so I vote for more fun! So what's the magic gadget that will yield one or the other? Inquiring minds want to know...
  22. Correct...I ordered one of the old style and one of the new style with a couple of the cotter pins...just in case. Loctite as a backup on the old style. You'd think with the humid gulf air it would have rusted in place by now...but oh no!! Funny...now I'm remembering that the guy I bought the bike from told me I should be checking all the nuts and bolts all the time, and I do look all around regularly and have found a few that have vibrated a bit loose, but never one that had been lost or spun out so far it was about to fall out, but I have to admit I never looked at this one. I suspect it was loosened when the new tires were put on at the shop as I had no problems up to this point...and this was going to be my first ride after picking it up and trailering it home from the shop. As a friend says: It's no coincidence if it's a coincidence...so I have to presume it was touched when the tire was replaced. Lesson learned...I'm going to go thru all of these methodically and paint them all with a yellow marker to watch for anything spinning loose.
  23. Hi Marty and Tim...I've just placed an order with Harpers last night for the new style and old bolts (as a spare). If they are backlogged 2 months getting these parts from Italy, I'll send up a flare here. Much appreciated...thanks!
  24. Marty...a huge thanks for the institutional memory here. I should have guessed before posting that this might have been a common issue...as usual you guys have seen the problem before and are already on top with a solution! Let me look at those new part numbers in the morning and get back to you on the original...that’s very kind of you!
