  1. I was tempted to go...just back from 10 days in Italy with the family, but unfortunately I have commitments all day Saturday. The ride out there is thru some very nice scenery...hopping over to Louisiana over the Taylor Bend reservoir is a very nice ride indeed! The weather is absolutely superb...I hope to get out on Sunday for a nice long ride...
  2. ...with an unexpected outcome given the rather unusual start as well. That has to be a record...coming from last to first against 2 super stars.
  3. I have the Moto GP app on Apple TV…there is also a good 6 minute summary on YouTube…you can find the Moto GP channel and it will show highlights of the races and sprints and other interesting tidbits. I’m not sure if there are any other sources to see the whole race besides the MotoGP app on AppleTV
  4. Well well...another great race! Won't spoil the outcome for those who have not seen it yet! Nice to see the Big 3 fighting tooth and nail to the end.
  5. In a way similar to Harvey here, tons of inches of rain, all cascading down mountain valleys...end results of floods. Remember Houston had 60 inches of rain with Harvey spread out over a relatively flat area...the Carolinas in some spots got 30 inches of rain in mountain valleys...horrific flooding/momentum of the water washing structures and roads away as if they were toothpicks. Just awful.
  6. Incredibly sad to see the destruction, loss of life and the scale of damage to such beautiful areas. Hopefully over time it can all be rebuilt again!
  7. A couple weeks ago, while riding the Grand Tour and listening to The Highwaymen while out on the road, I visited the town where Waylon Jennings was born, even has a street named after him! It's a real pity to see now that Willie Nelson is the last of the Highwaymen to be still standing. Kris's first daughter Tracy went to my High School in Palo Alto...a beautiful girl then, and still today. Anyway, in the spirit of emotion and reminiscing, I leave you with another song that entertained me during my 2000 mile journey thru Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and back home from Greg Allman and All My Friends album. Enjoy the harmonies and camaraderie on stage!
  8. I don't think Oil is backwards compatible...the Calvin being younger than the LeMans...I would stick with the original manual recommendation. But you live in a colder climate, so it would take a lot of abuse of the engine to really do any major damage. Maybe try 1 oil change and see if the bike behaves oddly...if so, kindly donate the remaining to the V11 Lemans trust fund...someone will take it off your hands. Chuck may fly up there in his airplane to pick it up...but if not, I'm sure one of us passing thru Colorado one day might pick it up! Post some pics of the "new" bike on one of the beautiful Colorado passes...maybe Rabbit Ears descending into Steamboat for example!
  9. https://www.ebay.com/itm/295688632946?_skw=moto+guzzi+quota+fuel+injectors&itmmeta=01J94JCT4986AE0G9JV3Q6EP5Y&hash=item44d86a7a72:g:K3wAAOSwke9kWnij&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAABAHoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKmhIsvw1gxrx6eEbaf8FFkwAWJESXqKzW25lDc%2FI%2Bl5OFqQEUubEWbY6kAkpHnqaW5dICFJEs3fNuVavSJR4C3mZU9zO60MaPaTMEA04085fOREvVO3XZdj9%2B38hipp9Dz0C1C2ZvvzthwrjjMeuTaefSBPCwDDccvVm7ZszMbhYbrt653%2FUeoyc8%2FK8RoHxiENYSDF9J8%2Bg%2F06wdL3OnhpbaAAsMYqsTGYgzM84mo2XJJ92y%2BPwcsufsqX1OmPwMWWNsyz3FnxlO%2FtuFJYRXsskQRsa9Ev6LZnickLsW5qFYYAR1gD10LH48Q0LBbUDWg%3D|tkp%3ABFBMnqKzkslk New OEM Fuel Injector for Guzzi: $120 to $150 USD for 1 injector Used OEM Fuel injector for Guzzi... $100 USD New aftermarket Fuel injector for Quota: $25 USD for 2 injectors You can go thru a LOT of aftermarket ones for the price of 1 new OEM... It is very helpful to get your existing ones checked...fully agree, that will very clearly state if you have a spray problem or not. But financially...it's minimal risk to buy aftermarket ones...even if they only last 5 years!
  10. I wouldn't assume he checked them to the level of your user expectations. But injectors are super easy to change, and there are plenty of cheap alternatives, plus not far from you is an Injector Cleaning Service company. But honestly, for $30 bucks you can get new injectors (not OEM) and that's about the cost of doing an injector cleaning. Very cheap, and easy to see if that helps improve the problem...if not, then it's not that much of a hit to the pocket book. You can find injectors on Ebay very easily.
  11. Is there one or are there two injectors? Perhaps those are due for a cleaning or replacement?
  12. Sounds like an interesting if not altogether rewarding day nonetheless, but not well planned or explained in advance. Unfortunately I don't know anything about the Quota fueling issues, is there a forum that exists for Quota owners or a Facebook page. Perhaps someone has some insights into the jerky fueling and potential cures. The bike looks great out in the dirt...seems to be in its element. Does Beetle have any knowledge of the fueling system for Quotas? Nice that you had a chance to talk a bit more extensively with David C....our flyby in Bandera didn't leave much room for chatting other than picking up the numbered flags. He and Lone Star Rider are going to be at Motorheads Museum in Burnet in early November, I stopped by there on my trip to Kansas last week while picking up the remaining stops on the Grand Tour and it was open, so I had a chance to visit finally as on all prior occasions I would get there when they were closed. They have an IMMACULATE Eldorado in there, along with several other very cool bikes and a cool Steve McQueen exhibit as well.
  13. West Texas sunsets...some of the best! The Quota is looking great!
  14. Very much so...temps most of the day were 98F to 102F....when it gets down to low 90's or high 80's, it feels positively cool! You're right about the wing...very smooth, one of the things that "hooked" me was the new sharper design compared to the older versions, and it's lighter as well compared to the prior models. It's truly a dream to drive...having spent the last 15 years on Guzzi's, all of which I still ride a lot I'm tickled to have a Wing that is this smooth...
  15. Excellent!! Yes…the upper left and far West Texas felt like a real stretch…I did 2 days, approx 1200 miles leaving home to get those last 14 stops…felt great but it’s a long couple of days of riding! All in all just back from Kansas a few hours ago…did a nice 2000 miles from Wednesday last till today. I had a nice stopover at the Hotel Texan and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast chatting with the owner. I’ll do next year as well…it’s a great excuse to ride!! Looking forward to hearing about the group ride!
  16. Today I complete my last stop…#50! On my way up to Kansas for a couple of days at a small rally… There are still 2 or 3 more stops I’d like to do just for fun and historical significance… Along the way I managed to fit in a few other important musical locations for renowned artists from the past…I’m sure some of you will appreciate the stops! Some of the night riding was just spectacular!
  17. The museum! Nice!! The only time I’ve visited it was closed unfortunately…but just being there is wonderful! I really wanted to see the original Norge…what a grand adventure he had on that bike! Do you suppose that V11 also has a cough at 3 k RPM’s? 😊
  18. Seafoam Bugs B Gone… A good quality Ceramic all in one spray clean and wax combo after the washing makes a nice shine and much easier to clean the next time also…
  19. As a long time Beetle customer, I have purchased his maps for my Norge and Griso, I would recommend Nuevo reach out to Beetle for a map. He has invested significant amounts of time and effort and should always be compensated for his work. He's very responsive and easy to work with...you can find him via his website as posted above or go to Griso Ghetto where he is very active as well and send a PM. I'm happy to help with local Guzzidiag activities, but I can't share Beetle's map without his permission.
  20. Adding to the fun and mirth this thread allows...each of the riders, often have a nickname. Valentino Rossi - aka The Doctor (Il Dottore) Fabio Quartararo - El Diablo (The Devil) or El Pascal Maverick Vinales - Top Gun for obvious reasons Miguel Oliveira - Einstein (since he likes to stick his tongue out like the original AE) Marc Marquez - Baby Alien, or as I like to call him the King of COTA (Austin race track), I"m sure others call him Beelzebub or other more derogatory terms too. Francesco in Italian, Pecco for short is just like Francisco in Spanish, with Paco for short...quite similar Amongst friends, we call each other by last names as a term of endearment, I see some folks like to call each other by their initials...although that's a bit more of a southern style.
  21. Just for a fun experiment, I've ordered a new set of coils (Ducati pricing is 50% of Guzzi pricing for the exact same part) and will see that that makes any difference at all. If not, then it's purely a fueling issue with no electrical contribution in which case back to asking for an updated map with small gaps in the table as suggested above. The quest continues! I looked at Beetle's website, he doesn't have any V11 maps there as far as I can see...but I could have sworn he used to have them.
