How to edit the engine map for a V11 15M ECU?
PJPR01 replied to nuevototem's topic in Technical Topics
Just for a fun experiment, I've ordered a new set of coils (Ducati pricing is 50% of Guzzi pricing for the exact same part) and will see that that makes any difference at all. If not, then it's purely a fueling issue with no electrical contribution in which case back to asking for an updated map with small gaps in the table as suggested above. The quest continues! I looked at Beetle's website, he doesn't have any V11 maps there as far as I can see...but I could have sworn he used to have them. -
Scura also equipped with Ohlins damper…must match the shocks front and rear. 😊 At least mine is…I hope all the other Scuras also.

That's interesting, it's theoretically the original spacer...I had examined it for any deficiencies but couldn't see anything, but very worthwhile to buy a new one and see if that solves the issue. Thanks again Phil. Enjoy Roma...and some delicious gelato! -

Wow...digital average of 29 mpg is incredibly low...unless that is mostly city driving. Something is off for sure. Even when i'm just doddling around in the city, I'm around 37 mpg, then averages for rides in the 42 mpg range...unless I'm really hammering it. Let us know what you find. -

Has the mileage always been this low or just recently? Reason I ask is when I got my new tires put on recently in June on the Norge…immediately thereafter my mileage dropped from 42 mpg to 37mpg….I found that the shop had over tightened the front axle and fork pinch bolts and the wheel was barely turning when suspended in the air. Fixed that and my mileage went back up to 42. You might be also running rich….have you pulled the plugs to see if they are sooty? Tire pressures set somewhere between 36-40? cheers! -
Here's the conspiracy theory...had they been bunched up all together, Alex would have been the hitman to take out Bagnaia to ensure Marc would win...what's odd here is he did it with a 5 second cushion to Jorge...makes no sense...but maybe Alex thinks he can become Marc by crashing more often.

Hi Mike...I presume you're inquiring for your Norge. It's a lot easier to buy a Beetle map for the Norge and save your original map to your computer using the Reader, then upload your new Beetle map using the Writer. After that follow all the steps in Guzzidiag to make sure all the steps are done...including resetting TPS electronically, Autolearning parameters are done...and you're ready to go. If you have an aftermarket exhaust pipe, look for the map that is mentioned on Beetle's page with that exhaust brand/model, and if you don't see it, send him a message, and he'll make one for you. -

I’m wondering…do the other V11 variants like the California, Vintage or any other V11 (excluding the Lemans, Ballabio, Scura, RC, Coppa,Nero) also suffer from this elusive 3K cough? -

Very interesting…thank you! -
Hi P6X... Had another great run today on the Scura, no rain unfortunately but a picture perfect day thru the forest, lunch at Classic Rock, a spirited run on 3090 up to Yankee Tavern and then back down thru the forest. Let me know one day if you're headed out on the Quota we can meet in Bellville or Navasota...would like to see the new addition to the fleet!

That was very educational...thank you Phil. I'm going to read that a couple more times. Just back from a nice 150 miler on the Scura...I was also pondering whether or not this has a component of electrical to it, and not just fuel. Is it possible that aged coils (I don't know if they are original, but I'm curious if I were to find a brand new pair) if that would make any difference on providing a better quality spark. With fresh plugs and very fresh wires, the only thing I've never changed on the bike are coils. I've got some old used California coils...maybe interesting to try them out. Overall, so my "sensation" of the lower RPM cough occurrence at around 2750 vs 3K prior, am I interpreting that correctly from your description above? The bike is such an amazing bike to ride...I'd like to continue on the eternal quest for perfection... Mileage appears to be in the 40-42mpg range, so that seems satisfactory also. -

It’s very minor now and much better than before…it seems to now occur around 2750 rpm’s…but much less than before. Will keep riding it more and see how it behaves long term. Given that it’s such a momentary issue …it’s a minor issue overall…but you know we like to search for perfection! -

Well I loaded the new Meinolf map this morning and set CO trim to 10 and it is remarkably better than the older Meinolf map and Co trim at zero. Maybe there’s something slightly worn out on my bike but it doesn’t seem to like CO trim at zero, the bike feels too lean and seems to starve at higher Rpm’s. Will run this combo for a while and see and evaluate for longer term results. -
Under the rainbow...a Scura takes a breather. Wonderful day riding today...a few refreshing storms, some nice sunshine and then a beautiful rainbow!

Hello Meinolf... Reading your description above, I'm cautiously optimistic to try and upgrade from your old map. All other settings are still spot on as per your prior instructions. Do you believe this new map could help eliminate the minor cough/hiccup present at 3K RPM's today? Will install it tomorrow and give it a go...Thanks! -
A few items done today…and then a wonderful 100 mile ride. New oil sensor, new plugs (left one nice tan brown, right one a little dark but not sooty), new vent tubes off the tank just for fun, was going to replace the rubber tank stops but the ones there are in great shape. Been thinking about the slight 3k cough or hiccup …wonder if it could be mapped away with a better mixture on the map at that RPM…still running the older version of the Meinolf map…may try the new one. Besides that the bike runs great at all other RPM’s. A quick check with the Carbtune…TB nicely balanced at idle and 4k…time for a ride. Out riding…a song comes on…Riders on the Storm…found a Scura at the end of the rainbow! Time to buy a lottery ticket tonight!!

Thrilling to see Marquez back on top…now the question is what really changed that the Ducati is now a good fit and you get a 5 second advantage over all others and why did Bagnaia fall off a cliff in his riding…nonetheless it was great to see Acosta also place on the podium this time and congrats to Jorge as the current championship leader…let’s see if he can stretch it all the way to the end of the season!

Let's hope so!!!

Buy it John! Add to the fleet...it would be a beautiful addition!

Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas, 2024 edition

Riding in these temps is really crazy...I did a couple of 150 mile loops these past weekends and the blowtorch is real! You nailed it. I'm riding with a full face balaclava that I wet completely and then put the helmet on, I'm also wearing SPF50 arm sleeves that I wet also...both provide some levels of relief, but in these temps, in about 30 minutes both are bone dry again and need to be re-wetted. I can't imagine doing a 10 hour day though in these temps...I'd rather ride at night! Hopefully temps in Sep will be no more than 90s or less, the heat index of 115 to 120 is just too hot. By the way, I notice that Houston/Katy are generally 5-10 degrees hotter in real temp and heat index than up here on the north end of town...we're lucky to have more trees, less concrete...a very noticeable difference. Riding in the Sam Houston National Forest with beautiful pine trees makes it much more tolerable with lots more shade and less concrete around. How's the Quota...have you been able to ride it at all lately? -

Sounds like a "new" way to game the system...not at all in the spirit of the Tour, but, his gain/loss at the same time. I was thinking about this scenario the other day for Marfa specifically as I'd like to take the family to Big Bend when the weather cools down for some adventures in the Rover and also pick up that last stop. I think I'd rather just take my number tag and stand in front of the spot w/o the motorcycle and see if that counts. Fantastic progress on picking up the extra 10 spots...I'm hoping to do something like that in September on the way to Kansas...and then just 2 more in the valley...Palo Alto battlefield and Kingsville over a long weekend. Hope all is well! -

Bad news P6X…I checked the calendar…I’ll be up in Kansas that weekend…heading out a few days early to pick up a few more stops on the Tour. If you do the ride…enjoy and hopefully the group ride is a safe one and well organized. -
At the BMW Dealer in Escondido, CA a few weeks ago after I had dropped in to see the new Guzzis they were carrying (Thanks Scud for the tip)...they also had a BMW Scooter/Motorcycle that was electric. $15K for a 75 mile range...good looking, but I just don't get the price vs. range ROI...one can get 3 nice used Guzzis for the price of 1 electric BMW scooter/motorbike.

Hello P6X...I think the fund raising is like most activities, you have to ask friends, family for donations or possibly even contribute yourself. I have never done a group ride before but will give it some consideration here over the next day and let you know. Good to hear the Quota is coming out of aestivation (summer hibernation) finally. I do have a Purple Flag with the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas logo on it that I had bought from David...so I'm ready for the rally...will just need to find a way to attach it via a small flag pole of some sorts.
