Nice case of MBS you got there. I have a Sport Scura (flyscreen sport in black). I find it great on Arizona's highways in the mountains. It really loves a high speed sweeping corner. AZ-87 up to Payson it is really in its element. Or AZ-89A to Yarnell. Pretty good on the tight stuff also like US-191. Not so good for freeway cruising. If I could adapt a throttle keep to it, it's freeway cruising score would improve dramatically. Some higher bars would be nice also. Oddly enough, I find the seat very comfortable for hours on end. I must have an Italian butt. My bike has the spring about to snap, the clutch about to explode, etc, etc. I've source all of the parts to fix all of the potential failures, but so far, I can't seem to stop riding it long enough to put it up on the shop lift. Run 'er till she blows !

I don't think turning the engine backwards to find TDC is going to hurt anything.
-
You don't hear it above 80 anyhow.

I missed out on this one, but decided I had to have one. Becker-Technik will not ship to the US, but Stein-Dinse is a dealer and will ship to the US no problems. Mine should be over the Atlantic about now.

Yea, I'm worried the drone would try to cut the corner, which here in Zonie land probably means a close encounter with a rock.
-
Anyone with a drone used the "follow" mode with a motorcycle. I understand that the speed would need to be kept low enough for the drone to follow. I think it would be cool to do a follow up a tight twisty mountain road.

A guy here was selling one of these and I missed out. Kinda like a temporary center stand. I tried to order one from Germany, but they won't sell to USA (F'n tort lawyers !). http://shop.becker-technik.de/en/motorbike-lifters/24-central-lifter.html So, would anyone in Europe be willing to buy one of these and mail it to the Arizona desert? I would be willing to pay exorbitantly for your trouble, maybe like even $20 + actual costs.

Chuck, pretty sure you have a VGA monitor there. The one from ebay is definitely a VGA monitor, you can tell by the 15-pin blue D-sub connector shown on the back. I suspect that the cable bundle marked CRT CNT has a VGA male connector on the end where it plugs into the CRT controller board which is mounted horizontally just under the CRTube itself. If you could get pictures of that connector (from all angles) I could tell for sure. Google "VGA connector" for pictures and more info. VGA monitors were the standard monitor for PC's in the dark ages (i.e. a couple of years ago). So, if you don't mind your system looking different, and want a Luigi approved cheap fix, you can find old VGA monitors in most Goodwill stores or equiv. for like $10. There's about a million of them in closets when people upgraded their PC's to 24" HD monitors. If you truly have a VGA connector in your system, buy a monitor, put it on top of your unit and run back with an extension cable. Or, 9" VGA LCD monitors are available new on ebay for about $50 and some minor fabbing would mount it in the existing hole.

Chuck, if you can take a picture of the cables that connect the CRT to the rest of the machine, maybe I can help. Also, send me the link of the replacement on Ebay.
-
Chuck, is the CRT a composite input analog NTSC ? (guessing here) If so, there are LCD replacements in the computer hobby market. If it's VGA or QVGA, an LCD replacement is easy peasy.

BTW2, the gas line from the petcock to the pump is bigger than 7mm, isn't it . . . Maybe boat shop won't help much after all.
-
Oh, BTW, Euro gas lines are 7mm, not 1/4" like US stuff. But generally close enough to work.
-
For quick disconnects and fuel cutoff valves that are generic, go to a boat shop or on line catalog like West Marine. Don't buy plastic bits, spring some bucks for the metal ones. Ask any BMW RT owner why.

Pick out a set of nice new mufflers, and let insurance pay for it. Being "dad", his rates probably won't go up much and you might as well get some of that insurance money that's been getting paid back for once.

Had our first 100+ degree ride Sunday. (106) So, we do what Zonies do on summer days, ride up into the mountains to cool off. This was a lunch ride to the Red Onion in Heber. What happens to stuff in Zonie heat.

Most of it is gear that has "shrunk" over the years.

This is what happens when you have just ONE too many items of motorcycle gear.

2018 Hand Built Motorcycle Show
bbolesaz replied to bbolesaz's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
My Scura is definitely WAY sexier than any Airhead I've ever owned. But then my R100GS was the best tool for getting from point A to point B regardless of what was in between. -
2018 Hand Built Motorcycle Show

I really like this show, because the theme isn't "start with $40,000 and an S&S motor". This year leaned a little more towards the art for art's sake customs. My favorites are where someone starts with an unloved older bike (Yami XS, Honda Ascot, etc) and makes a nice looking functional café out of it. My favorite was the heavily customized BMW R100 Airhead, being a long time Airhead rider also. (A Guzzi is an Airhead with the cylinders bent up out of the way.) -

Attended the Hand Built Motorcycle show in Austin while at the MotoGP COTA round. Posted lots of pix on another forum. Link here. http://www.azbeemers.org/forum/index.php?topic=5841.0 Enjoy. -
That's Mike's bike. It was in the 3 Scura (Mike's, mine and Scud's) picture from the So.Cal. Guzzi NAR. Very nice bike. I lust after his handlebar setup.
-
Scud, if you would take the time to do a review of the 310GS, I would appreciate it. As I get older and heavier, I'm looking for my adventure bikes to become newer and lighter. Can it run 80MPH down a highway comfortably?

FYI a brand new tank is just under $900. Painting not included. Gives you a chance to start fresh and get a good seal job done on the inside before any ethanol hits it.

I want a throttle lock that will release quickly if need be. The Kakao etc is very fussy to set and clear while rolling. Similar with Go Cruise etc. The new Atlas throttle lock works kinda, but vibration is its downfall as it will creep closed. Unlikely to work well on a V11. My all time favorite was (is) the NEP throttle lock, now called Sound Off Recreational. Simple lever to set / clear and always functioned perfectly for me on the early Goldwings to which it fit. The problem is that it is designed to hold against the throttle cable out of the throttle and is designed specifically for Honda / Yami / etc. I want to attempt to modify one to work with the V11 throttle housing. Should be a simple matter of cutting shaping some plastic bits.
