Anyone got a line on a sensor that actually fits? My bike has a 45 degree adaptor that keeps the cable away from the FI linkage. Is that missing on yours?

Gratuitous Pics of Girls + Guzzi

They're called "grasshoppers" in the industry. (at least in west Texas) -
Never mind, I went to the website and RTFM. It's the function/setup button switch.

Is that a hall sensor that is on the wiring for the speedo?

Naw, it was a balmy 98 going home, barely enough to break a sweat in the helmet. Added that stuff to the list for when the bike goes up on the lift. But since we are entering prime riding season here in Zonie land, that all may wait until summer.

Points for heater hose. A nearly 1000 mile weekend, no runs, no drips, no errors. Hard running too. Still no word on the real part from my (idiot) dealer.

Ready to head back to the Valley of the Sunstroke. Decending into Borrego Springs. This could be fun on a dirt bike. On the cutoff from Mecca to I-10 My route to and from the rally. And Saturday's Rides -

Some of my pix from the weekend. Big props to Scud for helping diagnose Mike's Scura and showing Zonie's the ropes on the neighborhood roads. BTW, don't bother trying to keep up with that Cali Scura. Between mad skillz and "Yep, that's the back of my hand" local knowledge; Scud spent a bit of time waiting around at intersections. On our way up, we stumbled into an IAC aerobatic competition being held in Borrego Springs. Mike's Scura was acting up on the way up the hill. It had recently been serviced and after some debug, Scud's sharp eye noted that the rubber tubes had been blown off of the fuel injector bodies, allowing the bike to suck air. We suspect someone forgot to tighten the clamps. However, it did act up again once on the way home, so the story is probably not finished on this one. This lovely old beast was tooling around the area. No Joy ! That's dark. Palomar, Check. -
On external pump tanks, it would be easy peasy if the pressure regulator wasn't screwed into the tank. Soooo, maybe an aftermarket pressure regulator and a simple bung on the tank . . .

Even just putting the fairing on would take some mad fab skills. There would be a fairing bracket to hold the lights and mirrors and support the front of the fairing. Could start with a LeMans piece and cut and weld. Then, where would you source that headlight from. Probably G&B used an off the shelf Japanese or Ducati unit, but you'd have to find out what it was. Maybe a few more brackets from the frame to the sides. Etc, etc.

Well, I ran it hard for about an hour yesterday evening. So far, so good. Furiously knocking on wood.

Only gotta last thru this weekend. Eventually, my dealer should get their shiz together and get the replacement hose in.

So, you may have seen in another thread that my local dealer screwed up my breather hose replacement. I really want to attend the San Diego rally this weekend, so an alternative is in order. Footgoose suggested heater hose, so this evening I investigated. After the requisite disassembly, I removed the old hose. Suprisingly, the only part of the hose that had gone bad was the 3-4 inches nearest the motor. The part near the frame seemed fine. I guess it is a heat problem. I measured the fittings, they are 3/4". So a 3/4 heater hose should do the trick. While there, I blew some air into the hose to make sure there isn't a problem with the breather system. Air flowed through the frame easily and exited in the airbox, just like it should. I took the old hose to my local AutoZone. We found a tall L shaped hose, 90 degree bend with about 4" on one side and 17" on the other. It is Dayco 80413. I cut about 1.5" off of the 4" section to mount to the engine fitting and the 17" other section will bend down then up meeting the frame fitting pretty well. Looks like it will work. I should be able to give it a good run Wednesday night to see if it does.

KiwiRoy, look a few posts above, I found it on google images.

That MT-07 looks interesting. I think Yami screwed the pooch on the Tenere 1200, the MT-07 could be a worthy follow on to the Tenere 660. If Honda put their 500c twin motor in that Africa Twin, I'd be there.

Easy fix. Ship it to a Aussie equivalent of UPS store and pay them to re-ship it to US. BTW, be sure the customs form is marked with the generic term "Motorcycle Accessory". Some specific parts are subject to DOT restrictions and may be trapped in customs.

Didn't have much use for offroad bikes until I moved to Zonie land. There's a lot of this state that has no paved roads. Started with a junker Yami XT350 but needed better connector highway performance and a magic button. Picked up a Beemer R100GS and rode the shiz out of it. All over the west and several Mexico adventures. When the F800GS showed up, I upgraded to much better offroad suspension with similar highway manners, if a bit top heavier. Still have the R100GS in the garage, too attached to it to sell it even though I hate to see it just collecting dust.

Mine has no check valve. However, there are bikes that do. BMW Airheads use a disk flapper valve at the top of the motor just under the breather hose connection. The theory is that if it is always expelling air, the crankcase pressure is reduced which reduces windage losses. I'm assuming the check valve is on the breather outlet hose, the one from the big bolt on the spine top back to the airbox.

Yes, I did go to their website and sent an email to the addy you listed and also filled out a contact web form. Cricket sounds here . . .

I have sent several emails etc. I even googled MCS Engineering and tried to contact that way. Nothing. Bukiss. I haven't tried the good old telephone yet.

Almost makes me want to re-build my brakes !

Thought about that. But the bike's tank is heavy, un-wieldy and has much more gas than needed to run a test. Even drained down, the right side will capture a lot of gas. For a couple of bucks I can have a much safer tool.

Looks like BAF-12 is just DOT3 fluid ? I'd rather not mix and use DOT-4 to lube the seals on assembly.
