  1. If I had a lot of time on my hands, I'd learn 3D printing and use it to make a nice looking tankring that would use the 4 bolts. Could even cover it with carbon fiber look. I'm going to have to take that panel off to take a look. On another forum (Goldwing) someone used surprisingly few magnets to keep a magnetic tank bag quite secure.
  2. Newbie reviving an old thread here. I have a Givi 4 liter 3D tanklock tankbag (#3D603) that I'd like to use on my '02 V11 Scura. But between my big belly and the aft gas fill, the tankbag would sit way too far back and intrude with my reach for the bars. So, I'm wondering - 1. Has anyone tried to mount a tankring to the 4 little bolts that hold the tank center panel on? That would move the tankbag far enough forward to fit nicely. 2. Is there space under the tank center panel to add some rare earth magnets? That would let me use a magnetic tankbag. TIA !
  3. I've figured out what my issue is the Convertibars. It's that in every picture I've seen of them, the extra tube length is sticking out of the bottom of the stanchion clamp. I think if folks cut off the extra tube so the tube would be flush with the bottom of the clamp, I would like them so much more.
  4. The problem with Convertibars, and most of the other clip on risers is that the stock bars mount on top of the triple and not underneath. And to be more difficult, it appears that the stock stanchion clamp is quite short. So, if you use most of the riser solutions, it seems to me that you end up with one of 2 choices. 1. Raise the fork tubes up the triples to gain the height necessary for the aftermarket stanchion clamp. I'm worried about shortening a already aggressive steering angle. 2. Mount the stanchion clamp under the triple. This means that the rise must be huge and an additional tube needs to run outside of the triple. The convertibars look like there are 4 fork tubes going on. Plus, without the stock stanchion clamp, the fork tubes are sort of poking out of the triple. Yes, the MPH look like an aluminum brick. But the forks and the stock clamp stay in place and I don't mind the extra width. Anyone with a nice CNC machine? Seems it wouldn't be hard to fab up a nicer version of the MPH concept that replaces the "brick" with a "tube".
  5. Thanks for info Tom M. I think I will go with the MPH versions.
  6. It looked to me that the Rox risers could work in a very similar fashion to the MPH risers. Small 7/8 tube clamped in the original clamps and clip ons clamped at the end of the riser. And yes, thank you FalcoLion for the 3rd endorsement of the Convertibars. Yes, they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I want to explore all of my options.
  7. Was the hose issue the only problem with the Rox risers? Isn't it possible to only order some hoses from Convertibars?
  8. New to the V11 world, but I can tell you that BMW airhead shafts had a rubber damper built into them. When the rubber got old it would allow the 2 ends of the shaft to slip relative to each other. When it got in the 5 degree range you would start to feel it and knew it was new driveshaft time.
  9. Well, I do now have my Scura. But there's one bike I've always wanted to add to my fleet. It would be considerably more expensive than the Scura. Smokin !
  10. Is it just me, or is the driveshaft out of phase at the beginning and end of the video? It only looks correct just before they move it to make it incorrect. To be in phase, the yokes of the U joint are on the same plane, yes?
  11. Tnanks for the info. Guess I should start checking ebay for a V11 dual plate clutch !
  12. OK first, my apologies if this is clear somewhere else in the forum that I didn't find. Newbie here. And yes, you'all scared me about my new to me V11 Scura clutch. So, apparently, the RAM clutches are not for sale any more ? Can someone clarify what "OEM dual plate" refers to ? Is it the stock clutch from another V11 model? I will usually side with reliability over performance, so the weight isn't an issue for me.
  13. Did find a post in this thread by Guzzistajohn claiming #599. The post is from 4/24/2012 and the fellow is(was) apparently from Springfield, MO. He only posted once and never posted again. On page 8 of this thread. He had the bike for "three years or so" at the time of his posting. Also, of course, have all of the info from the previous owner who sold me the bike. He apparently purchased it from Guzzistajohn. Since #599 showed up quickly on the registry, back to 2006, there must be another (ex) forum member who originally added it to the registry. Hence, my search for the number 599.
  14. The problem is with the search function of the forum. If I type in "tire" it finds threads. But if I type in "599" it finds none. But I know that 599 shows up in this registry thread several times. Why won't it find it?
  15. OK, I'm stumped. I'm trying to find posts that reference my bike. So, I'm searching for "599" (with and without quotes). I keep getting no results ??? Help!
  16. Anything for our new fellow scuristi. And doesn't it seem like the cover over the rear brake master cylinder should be black? I'll get on that right away !
  17. Yep, 1st Guzzi. Ridden them on test rides and such. I do like the gloss vs. matt paint. The Scura logos were taken off of the tail section I assume during the re-paint. I need to track a set down. Yes, it would be black on black, but in the blazing Zonie sun, it would be seen.
  18. Hi, just posted on the Intro thread and will update here. Scura #599 is now in Mesa, AZ. It will be prowling the mountain roads of Arizona and the great southwest. Thanks to PJPR01, it will have the custom plate "SCUZI", as in 'scuzi while I blow past you'. BTW, we only get 5 letters in AZ.

  20. Hi, my name is Brian. I have a serious addiction. I waste time at work cruising ebay and Craigslist for motorcycles. This causes me to have many motorcycles. Many BMW's from '64 R60/2 to F800GS to K1600GTL and several others. A couple of GL1200's. A few other various project bikes. Sooo, I see this V11 Scura on ebay. Always thought that bike was sexy as hell, and I didn't have a sport bike in the collection . . . Now, Scura #599 is in east Mesa, AZ. I'm apparently the 3rd owner and the other two owners have been members on this forum, so Hello !
