  1. It looks like the Enduralast for Guzzi uses a larger stator and rotor. I would assume the regulator is MOSFET.
  2. The Enduralast system works just like the normal Guzzi system. So yea, dumping heat. Airhead Beemers use a car like alternator, where there is a coil within a coil. The inner coil only energizes when voltage drops. So no excess heat. Just some super fussy and unreliable brushes plus rotors which have a tendency to open. Modern beemers tend use off the shelf Bosch alternators.
  3. Even Triumph had the good sense to hide FI inside of fake carb bodies. Carburetors, yuck. The only good thing to say about carbs is they might stumble along in a total digital failure. But then again, so will a carefully applied shot of ether.
  4. BTW, call the folks at Clearwater. Tell them what you want to do. They are generally very helpful.
  5. If you like simplicity (which I do), this Denali switch makes the wiring super simple. Battery, fuse, switch, lights. Easy peasy. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/denali-20-dryseal-on-off-waterproof-illuminated-switch-with-handlebar-mount They sell handy little metal mounting tabs to mount the switch on and then attach to clutch perches also.
  6. Agreed, run the lights off of a relay for sure. Clearwater has relay kits for their lights. And some nice switch options also.
  7. That's 24 WATTS, not amps. 24 amps would melt the entire V11 charging system. 24W is 2 amps, EACH.
  8. BTW, changing the tire is only 1/2 of the job. To finish it, you need a Marc Parnes Wheel Balancer or one of the many copies thereof. Doing your own wheel balance is the one area where dealers usually do a shitty job, and you will see real fruit of your labor.
  9. I have basically the same rig as Chuck. After using it a couple of years, I decided I have more money than time (happens when you get older). So, now I let the dealer bust his knuckles. BTW, I was mostly changing BMW GS tires, the ones with the spokes on the outer rim, one of the most annoying wheels to mount a tire on in the world. That may have a lot to do with why I quit. If you do insist on doing it yourself, heat the tire in the sun first and get some Ruglyde from either Napa or online.
  10. These bags are sold. Thanks.
  11. Didn't write anything down or get a pix of a sticker, so this is highly suspect info. But I vaguely remember 12-13K being mentioned, which is WAY cheaper than a Beemer or Triumph equivalent. Oh, and in dealers by March.

  13. At the Progressive IMS in Long Beach this past weekend.
  14. I believe Alpina wheels has a version for V11. Tubeless to boot !
  15. Bump, need to get these out of the garage.
  16. Harpers lists a lot of stuff. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . wait .. . . . . . .wait .. . .. . . .. . . . . . . wait
  17. Next year, pick your date earlier !
  18. Shouldn't be a problem other than cost. Rather large boxes.
  19. OK, make me an offer on these bags !
  20. SOLD So, I had installed a set of Hepco Becker Junior Bags onto my Scura. Purchased the bags and the "full" rack new. The worked very well. But, on the Scura, it was like putting a fanny pack on a super model. Just didn't like the look. So, my change of mind can be your bargain. I will sell the bags and rack for $500, about 1/2 price of the kit new. As a bonus, you get the instructions which I laboriously translated from German to English using google. (Yep, the kit new only comes with German instructions) You pay the shipping, the bags will be in original shipping box. Personally, I think they look great on faired bikes. Just didn't look right on the Scura.
  21. Thanks, might be a good opportunity to make it go dark.
  22. Finally got around to cleaning the Scura after the New Mexico MGNOC rally. On the way on US191 a.k.a. the Devil's Highway, we came across a chip seal crew and some just sprayed tar. Made quite a mess of the bike. A lot of nasty chemicals used to remove it. So, a question for the experts. Is the alternator cover painted? Looks like it since my nasty chemicals ruined the finish on the cover. Is the little Guzzi logo held on with double sticky tape?
  23. Kinda defeats the purpose of having that nice hard wire connection between the regulator and battery. But yes you could.
  24. On the ESR515, there isn't a separate wire for sensing the voltage, so no where to run a relay switched reference.
  25. Yep, it takes about 3-4 weeks for my newly installed ESR515 to drain the battery. DAMHIK.
