Moto Guzzi no longer makes rings for this model. I got them through Moto International in Seattle Wa. I've bought all the replacement parts from them. They have provided great service and I would recommend them to anyone.

Last Fall after foot surgery I could no longer ride. My Lemans needed some TLC. So in November I started looking for the oil leak. I got all new gaskets from the cases to the valve covers and all hardware in between. Here is a hint... don't ever break a piston ring. Three reasons: 1, they take about 7 weeks to get, 2: they are $70.00 bucks a set, 3: the broken piece can fall into your oil pan. Guess how I know! While I was at it, I sent the exhaust pipes off to Jet- Hot in North Carolina and had them ceramic coated the same color as my gas tank. Once I got it running I still had some fine tuning to do to get it running smoothly. It was backfiring badly. I realized the issue and fixed it . Now Big Red run great and sounds fantastic!!

I went to the manual section B page 12 and found the values. They are given in Nm. For example: Head Nut is 40 divided by 42= .952. Does they mean the torque value is 9.5/10 lb.ft.?

Scud, Got a question: if I'm not going to remove the rockers and valves from the heads, do I need the O rings you are talking about? Forget the question. I was looking at my digital service manual and see that I will have to remove the rockers to get to the head bolts. I then went to my parts catalog and got all the part numbers including the washers for the rockers.

Can anyone tell me the proper torque for the nuts/bolts on the heads. What I mean is the blots that hold the heads and jugs to the crankcase? I have the torque amounts for the valve covers.

Scud, Thanks for the 411. I didn't know about the O rings. I'll have to get those. I still have a few weeks before I can get to work on it. I'm still in a walking boot and I can't get around very well.

Well after a summer of riding my 2002 V11 Red/Gray Le Mans it's time to address the oil leaks. I ordered a complete set of gaskets to replace the old ones from the valve covers to the bottom of the jugs. I'm going to remove the valve covers , the heads, and the cylinders. I'm not going to disassemble the valves from the heads, but I'm going to clean them out. I had surgery on my right foot in early October so once I get out of the walking boot I can begin the work. My riding season is over unless we have some ware weather this winter.

Well, all has gone according to plan . Ok not exactly. After many messages to DOCC I can say that my 2002 v11 Lemans runs like a scalded dog. I had a wrench made to remove the cap over/under the oil filter. I removed the tank, wired together the clutch safety switch, installed a new fuel filter, adjusted the valves, new spark plugs, cleaned and re-charged the K & N air filter, new oil filter and new Syn 50 oil, and lastly, removed the baffles. That last thing might get me in BIG trouble! It starts each and every time I push the start button. I also bought the gray side panels from scud, thanks again on those scud. Now, if the weather would just get a bit better. I can't believe the difference these little items can make. It's such a big change in the way this beast gets down the road. I will say, the old plugs were gapped very badly and the oil was as black as tar.

I want to Thank Scud for selling me the 2 side plates. I found what seems to be a very good place to purchase parts. The website is www.motointernational.com . They have parts catalogs for any type of Guzzi that I can think of. I found all the parts I need to mount my side plates with (new parts). I also got 2 valve cover gaskets so I can adjust the valves. If this is a website that everyone already knows about then I guess I'm just "late to the party".

WOW, I had no idea that I would start such a thread! Docc and all you other folks have been a GREAT help. I realize that I found the proper forum on my first try. I now have a V11 that starts each time I press the start button. But, there are still problems yet to be solved. I can hardly wait until the next warm day without rain to go out and let this BIG DOG eat! Thanks to all of you that have thrown your helpful hat into the ring . Next on my list is a new oil filter and oil change, new plugs, and a set of Pilot Roads. Yes, docc told me which type of oil and filter to use. THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!

Yes, I can hear the fuel pump run. I think I'm just going to replace the kickstand sensor and see where it goes from there.
