    R1200S

Hi everyone - long time lurker - long time guzzi fan. Breifly, I was in the market for a bike about 2 years ago and was very close to buying a V11 but opted for the BMW R1150R (long story) . I'm still looking to add a Guzzi - something special. My question is what guzzisti think of 1. the BMW 1200S and 2. why the MGS-01 got so much good press while many journalist are questioning why BMW would build such a bike? You have to admit the 2 are quite striking and share similar philosophies: Would love to see these too at Daytona some year. (I like the MGS-01 better) jb
  2. I get the girl part . . . but where are the Guzzi's??? For the final presentation of my Architectural Masters Thesis I needed an image for large art posters in the lobby of the building I was designing: it was probably 3:00 in the morning and the only thing on my computer was either Horses, Labradors, Motorcycles or scantily clad women . . . she was the most decent I had!! [section thru lobby] jb

    Heads up!

Ratchethack, When I rode a Ducati Monster I frequented the Ducati Monster List: Guys would drop the fork tubes in the triples to fit clip-ons, raise the rear ride hieght and then complain about front end instability! Is this an Italian thing or are other bikes this susceptible to changes in geometry? jb

    Heads up!

    We have company: AdvRider.com Everyone behave . . .
  5. Sorry if this has been asked, but what's the valve gear on the new motor: Hydro or Solid? If solid what's the service interval? I'm asking because I'm looking to replace my BMW R1150R some time early next year. Right now there's nothing new out there I like. However, the Griso and the new BMW R1200S are the only two that look promising for the near future. The spy shots of the R1200S have me worried though: the R1100S's design is almost Italian in it's simplicity and fluidity. The new R1200S looks a bit to German. jb

    MSG\01...When?

I know - It would be like someone trying to execute a Lebbius Woods!!! Better left in theory land. I was just lamenting on the lack of American vision: to me a poorly executed "visionary" design is better than a well executed "safe" design.

    MSG\01...When?

http://www.eicma.it/ Ya know - I wish Americans were as appreciable about architecture as europeans were. It would sure make my job easier. Half the pictures on this site are of the new exhibition space. Most Americans can't even articulate "where they are" let alone if it's a "good" space or "bad". (end rant) sorry jb
  8. A GS Guzzi wouldn't be practical: One of the great things about the BMW flat twin is when you get down a trail were either space or trail conditions won't allow you to turn the pig around you can DROP it on one cyclinder and spin it around! Of course, then you need a couple of buddies to help you pick it back up again. (this is true by the way - a method many AdvRiders employ!) I think Guzzi could take some cues from BMW however: Look at thier line-up, they aren't trying to compete with Ducati, Aprilla, Honda. They're creating new markets!! Everyone here is complaining about the "old" Guzzi V-Twin. Look at the range BMW has with the "old" Flat twin: R1100S R1150R R1200RT R1200ST R1150GSADV R1200GS and all the C1200 cruisers. jb
