  1. Considering we don't have a price or delivery estimate yet I'd say we're doing pretty good.
  2. case in point. Customer number two. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Considering that the last run sold out and apparently the only option is Gutsiibits we'll make something happen.
  4. Yes, to MSF in your name.
  5. As I mentioned I know this guy who has motorcycle parts made in the Philippines. I was chatting with him but he was on holiday. I get a message from him today that he ordered the Gutsibits one as a sample so he could get a quote. He didn't tell me he was going to do this but it's too late. I said I could get one from Australia to him a lot faster. Doesn't matter, it's on it's way. So the irony is that potentially the next round of Roper plates might be "thanks" to Gutsibits. At least he knows the target price and feels comfortable his price will be significantly less. I think this could be an opportunity to undercut Gutsibits and give the fine folks on the forum a new source for the plates. And the royalties to Pete.
  6. He listed the battery as new. We assume it's been tested and fully charged.
  7. If battery charge is normal then the regulator shouldn’t have an impact, at least for starting.
  8. I re-read through some of the countless Roper plate threads. I apologize for asking the same questions.
  9. Chuck, here’s your green light to get a quote.
  10. I think the only issue is the side stand, but I don't know how big of an issue it is. Plus if we could source it in the US we might be able to get the cost down.
  11. Good point, did you try more holes in the plate? A slew of smaller holes might dissipate the pressure better but still keep the oil in check. Were you doing anything to keep the crankcase pressure neutral?
  12. Perfect, did you get quotes? I have to assume that water jetting stainless steel is less expensive than milling aluminum? Heaven's no. Pete's making some, isn't he? It's his intellectual property. I have no problem making one for the Kid, but what Guzibits has done is just plain wrong. Can you get a quote? Pete only made a couple and shipping from down under is prohibitive. We'd get his sign-off before going any further.
  13. I've seen spark plugs fail to spark under compression, I can't remember why.
  14. Fuel, air, spark. It looks like you have spark. Are the plugs wet when you pull them?
  15. I guess the question is, there's low load on the plates, just oil being flung at them, right? I'm guessing you could even lighten them up with more holes. But is there any reason they couldn't be 1mm?
  16. So what are your plates made from. I always assumed aluminum because at that thickness steel would be really heavy.
  17. Why did you originally go with aluminum and not steel?
  18. Perfect, did you get quotes? I have to assume that water jetting stainless steel is less expensive than milling aluminum?
  19. To be clear any adventure would be with Pete’s permission and a royalty would go to him or a destination of his choice. I’m just wondering if laser or water jet and stainless would be cheaper to produce. I also am not found of any modifications required by the thicker plate. If @Chuck could get a quote and it’s worth doing I bet we could easily presale enough to have a run done. I’m sure Pete would provide the CAD file to a trusted party. I also have a Norton guy in the Philippines who seems to have great manufacturing contacts at very reasonable rates. I’m thinking other techniques and materials might be significantly less expensive. Is that wishful thinking? $50 or $75 each?
  20. From what I can tell the original Roper Plates are no longer available. The last batch that was offered via Scud appear to be sold out. It looks like you can get a similar item from Gutsibits which seems to be an unauthorized copy (it's not like this was patented) and we might debate the ethicality of that... https://www.gutsibits.co.uk/pr/TheShop/index.php?f=d&Model=&q=ENA00004 At this point it looks like the Gutsibits version is the only option available. Two questions: What are the advantages and disadvantages of the the aluminum vs stainless steel versions? Why wasn't stainless steel used on the original version? Was it because at the time CNC aluminum was more readily available? I would think these days that laser or water cut stainless steel would be less expensive, and perhaps the material less expensive too? Are there any issues caused by the thickness of the aluminum plate? Would @Pete Roper be amenable to an authorized run of stainless steel versions if we could source a manufacturer? It seemed to work with the shift springs. Thoughts?
  21. Would you mine posting pictures of the rear main bearing carrier once it has the bearings installed just for my own curiosity? Thanks!
  22. Thought you already had that covered Pete, along with me Ciao You literally beat the rest of us to that comment.
  23. How much does it weigh? I recently shipped a vintage Triumph engine (so engine and tranny) from OR to MA and it was $180ish using FedEx ground. Right about 100lbs.
  24. Is there some reason they would want the restrictor to stick down? Are there two bearings that go in the bearing carrier?
  25. I've heard it's very good. I don't know their distribution plans yet. I hope BluRay and streaming at some point. I'll let you know what I find out.
