  1. From what I can tell the original Roper Plates are no longer available. The last batch that was offered via Scud appear to be sold out. It looks like you can get a similar item from Gutsibits which seems to be an unauthorized copy (it's not like this was patented) and we might debate the ethicality of that... https://www.gutsibits.co.uk/pr/TheShop/index.php?f=d&Model=&q=ENA00004 At this point it looks like the Gutsibits version is the only option available. Two questions: What are the advantages and disadvantages of the the aluminum vs stainless steel versions? Why wasn't stainless steel used on the original version? Was it because at the time CNC aluminum was more readily available? I would think these days that laser or water cut stainless steel would be less expensive, and perhaps the material less expensive too? Are there any issues caused by the thickness of the aluminum plate? Would @Pete Roper be amenable to an authorized run of stainless steel versions if we could source a manufacturer? It seemed to work with the shift springs. Thoughts?
  2. Would you mine posting pictures of the rear main bearing carrier once it has the bearings installed just for my own curiosity? Thanks!
  3. Thought you already had that covered Pete, along with me Ciao You literally beat the rest of us to that comment.
  4. How much does it weigh? I recently shipped a vintage Triumph engine (so engine and tranny) from OR to MA and it was $180ish using FedEx ground. Right about 100lbs.
  5. Is there some reason they would want the restrictor to stick down? Are there two bearings that go in the bearing carrier?
  6. I've heard it's very good. I don't know their distribution plans yet. I hope BluRay and streaming at some point. I'll let you know what I find out.
  7. That film has already been released. It was shown twice here during The One Show week. We'll most likely show it next year during our film festival.
  8. Well, this turned into a mileage @#$$#! measuring contest pretty quickly. Going back to the fuel level thermistor thing... I need to wade through the 14 pages of who gets the best mileage to see what the specs are. (Yes, I was posting my mileage a few pages ago, guilty!) Here's Roy's post on Wild Goose: https://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=75423.0 There must be another option for the thermistors. I assume there's no part number on the Guzzi one? https://www.st-owners.com/forums/threads/fuel-guage-question.157800/ I wonder if this is more like the Guzzi thermistor? https://www.southbayriders.com/forums/threads/135817/ Another possible option: Ametherm NT05 15291
  9. My average is 35 according to my app. 40 is my highest. The most I’ve even gone on a tank was 160. The most I’ve ever put in the tank was 5 gals. I never take the freeway, it’s usually windy mountain roads so that has a lot to do with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Commandos are one of the funnest bikes to ride ever. A complete all around bike. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. 180? Dang. I need to keep off the throttle more... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Many of the guys who race the Isle of Man and the other road races aren’t much different. Someone like Dave Molyneux who has won 17 TTs on a sidecar just shows up with his van. Seventeen... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. It’s possible but it would take someone very skilled so it doesn’t distort. Fortunately the barrels aren’t rare. A brand new barrel is $900. Brand new. I have a couple spares, with broken fins. Fins are cosmetic so easy to weld up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It just made me think of the great John Britten. He had a crack in the sleeve at Daytona, right after qualification. He tore it down, welded it with a borrowed torch and a coat hanger, and raced the next day. Still amazes me. If it was way down in the skirt then there a good chance it could be done. The piston doesn’t even travel down very far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. That pretty much sums up my experience. In the end there was too much oil coming out. So the catch can would fill up too quickly, not to mention that oil ain't in the motor anymore. So I put it back to stock. I would like to figure out a way to allow for oil to return to the crankcase and yet pull a negative pressure in the crankcase (PCV type stuff). But so far it just ain't worth it. Reed valve.
  16. Yeah, it’s not pretty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. The " ________ Is Art" hooplah is merely the hipster way of trying to promote and build value to something so they can try to charge the exorbitant prices for stuff. Works for some, not all... These bikes are no different that show cars or any other display of things polished to an extreme degree. Hipsters didn't invent it.
  20. I didn't make videos of all the years. :-) But here's a playlist of the ones I did make. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDOURUXhbxo2zKyHbPLHr8HncDl1ukuY- Bonus points if you can tell me which year my bike was in the show.
  21. There are no kids on your lawns, are there? Some of those bikes are ridden, some are for show. To each their own.
  22. Thank God I don't have a life and just spend all my time on the internet! Looks like I spoke too soon. Someone else got it. :-(
  23. What about the nuts, do you just re-use them?

  25. Open your wallet wide, you could buy a V11 Sport for the same price...
