  1. Why didn't you use metric hardware?
  2. At least it's better looking that this travesty.
  3. Is this issue isolated to the V11s? Has anyone looked inside a later six-speed box and see if it’s the same? Looking at where th springs are breaking seems to confirm the incorrect boss/spring relationship. In the examples provided have you confirmed the boss or spring size? Fixing a problem sometimes requires looking beyond the parts in your hand.
  4. No, the show bike. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Somewhere there’s a pic of a previous Guzzi model in that color scheme. Might be over on Wild Guzzi. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. See? That's what I'm thinking. Something to take down the rough, dusty backroad shortcuts that I don't want to subject my Sport to. As pretty as the show bike is (to me), I would still likely opt for a satin Tenni green and all else matte black. How 'bout it, Swooshdave, wanna do a visual mock-up? Don't have enough time to take off the stripes right now. Maybe later.
  7. Well, flying around the TT you had to lay your head down at least once on the straightaways just to pray. The good news is on that Norton Manx you also had a good chance of winning.
  8. What makes you say that? It "appears" to be the new 6 speed. (?) But then, we are looking at a prototype.. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20173&p=227332 "Two cylinder, five cylinder..." Obviously a typo or bad translation but we know it can't have 2 AND 5 cylinders. So it's either valves or speeds. Or it could all be wrong.
  9. Five valve was a typo. It’s a five speed.
  10. That helps but you also need to know what material and tempering you want. One of the things you can calculate on a torsion spring is music wire.. that's what Scud is looking at. Thought it might give an optimum dia. etc. If that’s even the right material to use. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Either there is a quality issue, a design issue or both. For a 15+ year old motorcycle sometimes it's easier to re-engineer (which typically means over-engineering) a solution.
  13. In this thread alone, there are pictures of the spring breaking in different places. That hints at a metallurgy/heat treat problem to me. A simple spring like this should be able to be wound from music wire, and be bullet proof, I would think. There is actually only one picture of a broken spring in this thread that I can find. It's good to gather the data on where the spring is breaking (if more than one location) before solutioning.
  14. No need to cutaway an engine anymore when we have 3D drawings (if they decide to share them).
  15. How about a selection of broken spring pictures, surely there must be plenty of examples. Are they all breaking in the same place?
  16. Probably translates to twin cylinder 5 valve. If so.. I hope they have finally gotten it right. Or 5 speed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. The auto translate into English subtitles was... ahem... interesting. Based on those women alone I need to learn Italian.
  18. For us English speakers: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gpone.com%2Fit%2F2017%2F10%2F16%2Fnews-prodotto%2Fmoto-guzzi-ad-eicma-un-concept-rivoluzionario.html%23.WeXKXlZHabo.facebook&edit-text=&act=url
  19. ...and my BMW K75s has a clever auto-retract spring that's actuated by the clutch cable at the transmission. And the Husky sidestand flies up and hits you in the balls if you stand too close to the bike. That's a mistake you make only once. I get distracted when there are people around. I've "stalled" my Scura more than once by putting it into gear with the sidestand down - thank-you e-nanny. I hate that K75 side stand. It doesn't stay out until you put weight on it. So you are balancing the bike on one foot trying to hold the side stand out and hoping it doesn't slip and the bike land on your sorry ass. The clutch thing is too cute. Don't get me started on the whole "tap both brakes or the flashing light thing". I had to put up with that for 75 miles before my dad and brother told me that trick on the way back from Barber. The last thing you want with a hurricane on your butt is warning light... You can see why my brother sold his K75 when he got a Guzzi.
  20. The nice thing about the side stands on my Norton and Tonti is they are so long it's nearly impossible to ride off with them down. You wouldn't make it two inches before it would get ugly. The police stand on the Tonti is so long you can see it even past the cylinder head.
  21. Can someone post a picture of the stock spring in place, perhaps additional photos of the range of the spring? I thought I had read something about the boss and spring not matching (15mm vs. 16mm) and perhaps the spring binds and breaks?
  22. V9 with fatter tires...
  23. spri by swooshdave, on Flickr I see it as 3 main parts if you follow this model. 1. Drill a hole and mount a stud. 2. Spring 3. Drill a hole and mount a stud. As is this example you can just use off the shelf parts. How did Guzzi fix it on later bikes? Is this exclusive to the 6 speed V11s?
  24. I thought the Scura had a carbon fiber one? If I eve put on a tank bag I'll probably go with a fuel cap mounted Givi. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BDXGLL4/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=IYMYBR20QJ8FI&colid=26Y5AVMGX9WC6 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007217IHI/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I37FBKL8G7TQ86&colid=26Y5AVMGX9WC6
  25. Should be enough used ones to replace it with.
