Wow! I sourced some bearings from a local bearing shop for less than $50. Mine came out quite easily. No drama at all

Ok I will give it a go. Always loved Italian motorcycles but was put off Moto Guzzi's based on an experience I had quite a few years ago. It was a bit of nothing really. I was playing golf by a state highway and heard a bike coming up the road. Cannot remember the model but it was a Guzzi. I watched it pass as it revved out and accelerated through the gears.............but seemed to not be going anywhere fast. That put the thought in my head that other "motorcycle officiandos" echo that they are underpowered and heavy. So I dismissed them as a possible purchase. Mind you I was into track days back then and owned a few sport bikes. 999s Ducati, Aprilia RSV Factory. My focus was more on power and speed then. 3 years ago I needed to buy another bike as the Aprilia was written off due to a car pulling out in front of me. Well two in a row actually. I managed to avoid the first one but not the idiot behind him who blindly followed. So here I was, a little bit older and slowing down somewhat. Looking at bikes the Cafe Sport came up for sale. Took me a couple of test rides to be convinced. It coughed and spluttered at 3k revs. Didn't seem to handle that well. Having never ridden one before, the character still got to me and I purchased with the flaws. I added the TI kit with ECU and adjusted the suspension which was so far out it wasn't funny. Went through the bike top to bottom and replaced or tweaked everything including the decent tune up found here on this site. I love the bike now and looking for another MG. They just get you in a way no other bike has. Don't listen to opinions, you have to try things for yourself. Lesson learnt!

Hey I must tell the wife that for this reason I have to get out and ride more. A pity its a long holiday weekend here but rain forecast the whole three days.

That's one mod I am definitely doing when the rear wheel needs a new tyre.

I have a friend with a 2001 V11 sport. Tried the Meinolf and the TI map in his and he liked the TI map better as well. He still has a slight issue with a cough that I would want to quantify before making further comment. He was bugging me to complete the "decent tune up" for him as mine runs so well. I need to find the time to get this done as I know it will put a bigger smile on his face when he rides it. He only has about 18000kms on his bike.

To be fair, my original 15RC ECU had been tampered with by an "experienced" shop to try and remove the stutter/cough around 3k revs. I did try and have a rexxer map loaded as I have in my St4s, but this failed as the work done to tickle the map by the shop prevented any update being loaded. Something to do with a programming access code. I have no idea what that means or if I have described it correctly. So I was stuck with the stutter. I had the opportunity to buy a second hand titanium kit. The OEM mufflers were already cored so I just swapped the ECU for the 15M and immediately the stutter was gone. I then loaded the Meinolf map and completed Docc's decent tune up. Bike ran really well. I have since changed back to the TI map and it runs better. Anyone who rides it (I have two friends with 15M V11's) comment on how well it runs. So very happy now.

I read somewhere else that the TI map does not alter anything below 4000rpm. How does that explain the removal of the 2700-3100 flat spot or surging on a constant throttle. It annoyed the crap out of me. Installed the TI ECU and it disappeared. Mind you it also disabled the lambda being the earlier ECU. Maybe that helped?

May as well continue adding to this thread. May it not be my last contribution :-). Mangakino area, middle of the North Island. Stopped at the Waipapa Dam beside the Waikato river. Was a 500km day 10th December this year.

Yeah a clean Rosso Mandello is about 9k USD. See below. Plus added the link for the MK5. Its what they are asking. Someone has to pay that amount! https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/sports/moto-guzzi/listing/3365092869?bof=LEbcagWf https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/classic-vintage/moto-guzzi/listing/3360808775?bof=LEbcagWf

Any of the Le mans 850 through to 1000. Daytona. Any old V7 or 850T's. Ambassadors. The V11 is just starting to rise. With this Covid pandemic going on and no one travelling there is a lot of spare cash around for toys. I think this is contributing to price as we only have relatively small pool of vehicles in NZ. Someone was asking 25k (17.5K USD) for a mk5 lemans recently. It was low mileage. A nice MKII 850 would be around 16k USD. Unfortunately my budget doesn't stretch that far

Took the V11 out for a 50km ride around the lakes here in Rotorua NZ. With the TI map and the decent tune up I cannot fault it. Purrs like a cat and when you want growls like a tiger with that torque and the sound of the TI Cans. I honestly cannot fault it. It is running superb thanks to the information on this forum. I had my bike lift close to the garage doors which was a bit of a pain getting the bikes around the lift to exit the garage. Also have to think about an addition to the two bikes. So in goes the lift with bikes not on the lift closer to the open doors of freedom! Been looking around for a third bike with the criteria being it needs to be old (40 years old is about 1/10 of the annual registration fees here.) From $520 down to $50. Love an old guzzi but prices are rising super fast. I will know when the right one comes along. So what did i do to my V11 today? Gave it a new position in the garage

Summer is here! Time to check out the TI cans and ECU. For some reason it runs better with more response in the low to mid rev range on the TI map than the Meinolf map. Suitably impressed with exhaust note now. The bike has had the "full tune up" process from this forum and runs very well.
-
The look from the rear annoyed me with the driveshaft side pipe sitting out further than the left hand side once the TI exhausts were fitted. Whipped up a spacer last night. happy with the look now. Now if only the rain would stop.

I ended up putting a 15M ECU in mine so the lambda is not used. Now if someone had a titanium race map for the 15RC I would try and use the lambda again but maybe the race map turns it off anyway. FYI I found the Titanium race map better than the meinolf map for some reason. I am in the middle of comparison on the road this month to try and provide seat of the pants feedback.

Yep from the Aprilia factory, straight from the first gen Tuono.
-
Hmm I have a Cafe sport that could do with a new tank?
-
Finished up taking the dents out and repacking the second TI race can. Polish the headers left to do and I will be back on the road ready for summer and when our current lockdown finishes!
-
Why is there a hose from the two throttle body balance connection points like they are joined together?? Is this some sort of modification?
-
I must not have been thinking today as I had that very thought when I was looking down the barrel when taking the photo. Its stuck pretty good. I don't want to add any more dings to the pipe trying to remove the end. I see there is a wrap around of fine mesh that must help keep the fibres from easily flying out........oh well I have time on my side. The original mufflers sound nice opened up but they must still weigh a ton!
-
Loaded the Meinolf 93_6 map. Runs great now. So then I thought I would attack the pipes to start the process of cleaning them up, removing dents etc. Interesting that it looked like one had already been opened and this is what I found inside.......no packing at all. The other outlet end is very difficult to remove. It might have to stay there while I remove the dents which will make it a little bit harder.
-
Ooh nice thread. Just purchased some TI cans with a couple of small dings. Now to find some PVC pipe and more importantly some IPA. The dents are removed more easily with some throat lubricant I take it!
