  1. Excellent, tks. From my understanding of the schematic and the info from Roy,,, the little jumper wire I had off and then reconnected was from ECU relay 4 pin 87,,, to Coil/injector? Relay 5 pin 85?. If I reconnected those back incorrectly on the wrong pins,,, would it be possible, that the side stand/neutral switches are still acting normal,,, but somehow Guzzidiag won't connect if the side stand is up,, due to the funky circuits, you had mentioned earlier through the run switch?
  2. 1) Yes 2) Yes 3) Yes So Yes to all 3, you're batting a thousand. I'm very curious what your diagnosis is Docc
  3. HHhhmmmm, I know the layout of the relays seem to be different from old to new bikes,,, but I did have a couple of those relays out and a jumper wire disconnected for quite a while. I was intending to run a volt meter by connecting there per KiwiRoy's suggestion,, but I didn't want to mess up the stock wiring so I hardwired a quick disconnect from the battery to my volt meter instead. I'm thinking I probably reconnected that jumper wire between the 2 relay terminals on the wrong contacts. ph#wk, lol,, I'll take a hard look in that area Tks very much,
  4. It's a funky finesse feel kind of thing, that will drive you crazy until you learn it. DON'T go near it with any type of tool,it's crappy brittle plastic, just waiting to break and fall apart. The first time I did the quick disconnect on my CalVin,I danced around it for days, with a variety of tools, very lucky I didn't break anything. The turning point for me was watching a youtube video by a Norge? owner, his first video of the technique was so well received he posted a 2nd one with a closer camera angle,do a search for it,if you're lucky you'll find it. Iirc the motion on the V11 is opposite from the CalVin, but the theory is the same, while supporting the plastic elbow with your left hand so it doesn't break, push or pull the collar just slightly to release the mechanism internally, while keeping that pressure on the collar, just wiggle it gently back/forth slightly and pull the whole thing off. It's instinctive to me now,I can do it with my eyes closed, but until I learned that feel, pull/push/release pressure/wiggle/off,,, I was ready to torch the bike.lol. Hint, don't do it when you're frustrated, come back at it with fresh eyes and patience. A slight spray of WD40 on reassembly helps prevent issues in the future. fwiw ymmv good luck
  5. Hey Docc, Tks very much for the detailed response. My neutral light is working and lights up when it's in neutral. Re the changing CO trim levels due to not saving properly,I've witnessed that myself, this was different. Iirc it was Beetle, that knew for certain,a bike had been set at ie +20 and at a later date the setting of 20 stayed the same, but the + was now a - with a setting of -20. fwiw, idk. From working it, I can tell, the initial owner of my bike was a good involved owner;when I saw the CO trim at -26, I wondered if possibly, with all of the electrical, connecting/disconnecting,I've done & a dead battery by PO,etc had possibly caused a "burp" in the ECU changing it from +26 to -26. Now that I've got the GD connection issue figured out, when I get back into it, I'll play with it a bit and do those 2 tests with the side stand/neutral to see how it responds. Tks very much for your help
  6. "Will the bike start and run in neutral with the stand down? If so, your Run Switch is working fine on the Neutral Switch/relay circuit. There would be no benefit to using the Sidestand Switch instead." "That’s normal. The Clutch Switch only locks out the starter. Once running, it will run in neutral with the stand down?" Hey Docc, In an effort to keep info organized I'm adding this post, hoping that you'll see it and share some insight with me. I struggled like h*ll to get my 2003 V11 Lemans to connect with Guzzidiag to adjust the CO trim. On a whim I tried it with the side stand down and it connected. Imo that's completely counter intuitive, with the side stand down, I thought if anything the safety switch "may" lock out the ignition & GD, but on my bike with the side stand up, clutch pulled in the bike starts and runs, but for some reason, GD won't connect with the side stand up. I saw your a/m posts, re the funky wiring/safety switches and would love to hear your thoughts. Is my bike an anomoly or typical.? Being unable to connect with GD with the side stand up, does that indicate a hidden wiring/connection issue that my flare up and cause me grief? All these funky connection issues that some V11 owners have been reporting, have they solved them mysteriously unaware,by simply putting the side stand down, because that's exactly what I did. While I've got your attention; In my search to cure this issue I stumbled across much info in regards to CO trim levels. I can't remember if it was Beetle,Guzzisteve,Wayne Orwig ?...., but I noted it was someone's opinion that I valued in tuning EFI guzzis; they related that from experience they had witnessed through electrical gremlins that positive CO trim levels, had inverted from initial high positive settings to low negative settings. When I checked my CO trim, it was -26. I'm wondering if that was initially a positive setting. I'm considering +26 as my baseline with my more open breathing leaner tuning set up. I'm running stock air box w bell mouths stretched open a bit, stock headers w crossover, Mistral Cross over, Mistral Carbon Ovals no DbK. My air bypass screws were both seated completely(richer?) I'm following your decent tune up guidelines and have the air bypass screws out one turn (leaner?) After reading much positive feed back from higher CO trim levels, with my set up what are your thoughts? I welcome any input from anybody that has a comment or something I should be thinking about or considering. Tia
  7. Glad to see this thread, because I have a question that I'm hoping generates a good discussion. I've watched many respected guzzistis make the plunge into a variety of Royal Enfield models. I understand someone going for a RE if it's a completely different bike,ie single cylinder ADV or city bike, but I've been surprised at the number of riders that have jumped onto a RE 650 twin rather than a MG V7. For myself; a known product, plus the solid basic engineering of a MG and the lack of chain maintenance are a big draws, what is it about the RE that convinced you to go down that road rather than a small block MG. (Chuck, especially you, with imho, the ultimate small block, the Aero Lario) Are the electronics much simpler,,,fit & finish much higher,,,more comfortable,,,solid engineering,,,,simple valve adjustments,,,,,much lighter weight,,,,,reminds you of the Triumphs & BSAs,you grew up around as a kid,,,etc, etc? The REs are highly respected in my area, and I've always been impressed with the few I've seen in person, but they really haven't made big inroads in the market. Most of the RE dealers seem to be fringe dealers,ie Chinese ATV dealers, scooter dealers etc. Curious to hear your thoughts. tks for starting this Joe
  8. Very interesting. It would've been nice to see the normal msrp in the comparison as well. I noted that the number of timed laps was not consistent between all brands; a true blind test should eliminate all possibilities of partiality. It would be nice to see a similar test on a bike not equipped with ABS,like all of mine are. It was reassuring to read that the Conti RA3 didn't activate the ABS at all on the wet braking test. I interpret that as a higher degree of traction. fwiw idk I can't recall if I've ever ridden on a set of Bridgestones. I "think" I may have removed a set from my V11 that still looked brand new, but the date code was 17 yrs old. MT, tks very much for posting that link & report, good food for thought.
  9. You left out Mistral in Mandello Del Lario. I was surprised with the low Euro how far my low Canadian dollar went on a big exhaust order. They were excellent to deal with I have experience with most on that list and after a pleasant purchase with Mistral, I'll be dealing with them direct again. Sooner than I intended, now that I've fought with & understand the crossover/header bs. lol.
  10. I've never used any of the other companies mentioned, but while reading through the PP saga, I did learn that Venmo is apparently owned by PP, fwiw. I'm trying to cancel my PP account, it's a work in progress. Most large corporations, financial institutions and unfortunately gov'ts, have made the choice to hide the truth on their real agenda, and are targeting our lives in a variety of ways. The currency & financial systems are imploding. My gov't sold off our gold reserves and brought in Bank Bail In Regime Legislation, leaving me extremely vulnerable, I know Australia has similar legislation, not sure about the US; inform yourself, there are those in the world who have their sights on taking what many of us have worked hard for a life time to attain. A big part of this agenda, depends on hiding the truth and silencing truth tellers. One of the last news agencies with any type of real integrity reporting truth is The Expose in UK, PP defunded them trying to bankrupt & silence them quite a while ago. Now PP has tipped their hand that they were going after individuals who may happen to be critical thinkers. Once I became vocal about voicing truths on social media, I have been shadow banned & silenced for quite some time. The people running the world are running the media, truth is sorely lacking. I'll step away from this mine field, with one last quote from Malcolm X. "If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing"
  11. His eye & ability to capture composition, light & texture, off the charts; he's also an amazing artist, his paintings are to die for.
  12. Doug raced Nortons & the Team Obselete stable is comprised of mostly British bikes or extreme exotica. I know they've got one early 60's MG factory racing single, Dave Roper can really make that thing dance. I've examined it up close, it's beautiful in it's own utilitarian way, but to an artistic eye, probably not so much, idk.
  13. Yup,extremely sexy lines, well done finding that I must have only ever seen those bikes with chambers & crossovers added, I don't recall ever seeing one of those colostomy bags. I agree very atrocious,
  14. Well if we're posting quotes, this one by Booker T Washington, recently became my favorite. A lie doesn't become truth, Wrong doesn't become right, And evil doesn't become good, Just because it's accepted by a majority.
  15. Very scarey times. I don't know how far it made it's way out in the world; but during our recent Freedom Convoy, a hacker working for the Gov't ,got a list of of all supporting donors to Give Send Go; There were literally single Mom minimum wage earners on that list, that had their bank accounts frozen, for donating $5. I didn't have my bank account frozen, but I was doxxed on a geo file, disseminated world wide to every anitifa wack job out there. Having witnessed just how tenuous my financial security really was, I attempted to find a major Canadian Bank that hadn't been infiltrated and influenced by Black Rock et all, impossible, they're all wearing the same team jerseys.
  16. https://www.douglasmacrae.com/bikes I came to know of Douglas Macrae while volunteering with the VRRA. He's expensive but he is the best. (He doesn't do just motorcycles, fyi) He's not only extremely talented in many areas, but extremely inspiring. He gave up racing a while back, when he was diagnosed with inoperable terminal brain cancer; but he still does the odd parade lap on some of Team Obselete's fine vintage racing machines. He's done some amazing photos of well known racer Dave Roper and others. If you desire a fine print of a vintage machine captured like a piece of art, go through his catalogue, I'm sure you'll find something you like. In the near future he's publishing a huge coffee table book, but I know he has an extensive catalogue and can do posters or prints as requested. Absolutely no pressure, but if you do happen to get one, please post a photo of it. tia good luck
  17. Hey PA, Tks for the ideas, but I already have some plastic washers on hand and have to make a trip to the fastening store anyways so I'll be picking up something to use as shims at both ends. To anyone that happens to be reading this in the future; pay very close attention to a good, tight secure fit on installation that moves freely. While I was dicking around with it, the whole throttle stuck open about 1/2 way for a short time. I "think" it was the big white plastic idle nut? adjustment nut at the end of the throttle threaded linkage that got stuck. I can understand now why the company lawyers got involved and insisted on a dual throttle cable system, push/pull,,, open/close on the later models. fwiw tks very much
  18. Tks PA I can't remember who posted about shimming the dual cable system, but he used hard plastic washers, split to slide over the cable onto the ferrule end. On his system 4mm fit, on my single cable a 5mm washer would fit over the ferrule at the throttle body. A large 1.5-2mm plastic washer jammed inside the adjuster up at the throttle, should help tighten things up, hopefully enough to take up the slack. After looking at it, there is so much slack, I think I'm going to have to shim both ends, otherwise the cable ferrules may possibly pop out and get stuck; which I've read about here, and I've had that happen on my carbed bike. tks
  19. After installing the MPH riser kit on my 2003 Lemans, I had rerouted the stock throttle cable, it wasn't perfect, but it wasn't that bad. I read about guys using the longer Centauro cable which seemed to be the best solution, so I picked one up from Stein Dinse. When I'm installing it, the cable itself is too long for the casing, even with the adjuster at the throttle all the way out it's still too loose. I've had trouble like this before with new cables on my CX100 and I just shimmed it at the ferrule on the carb with some zip tie plastic material. I don't want to shim the cable near the cam on the throttle in case it pops out,,, I'm thinking of mcgyvering a shim inside the adjusting ferrule up at the throttle, but it wouldn't leave much of the casing inside the adjuster holding it in place. Is there a work around adjusting the linkage mechanism down at the throttle body, or as I suspect that's a fixed set up that I shouldn't screw around with? I read a post on someone tightening up loose cables on a twin cable set up, but I wasn't able to find anyone that had modded a single cable set up. Anyone dealt with this before or have thoughts on correcting it safely? Tia
  20. Wow, very nice choice by your Dad. I'm familiar with that blue color. The camera angle and light, don't do it justice, that's absolutely one of the best stock colors I have ever seen on anything, simply gorgeous.
  21. I'd be interested in hearing how you like them after you put a few miles on them. ride/quality/price. I've got one Tonti frame bike that still needs new shocks. I've got Ikons on a couple of Tontis, they're ok, but they're not getting any cheaper, and availability is spotty at times.
  22. Mark Etheridge nporsoteSdg6t8 . Moto Guzzi Classics . Please CALL, DO NOT TEXT (562) 986-0070 Hey Doc, I just copied over his info from one of his ads. I don't have an email address for him, he posts on Face Book Guzzi bikes and parts for sale, so he probably could be reached that way; I know from Chuck's comments, I think Mark is very old school and not on a computer very often. I don't have a physical address for him, but he's in Long Beach California. fyi
  23. I think that might be the type of thing that Mark Etheridge might have lying around; he's stripping a lot of Californias and doing nice custom standards. fyi fwiw
  24. My Shoei GTAir has pinlocks and an anti fogging sheet(s?). I've never gone to the trouble of figuring out how they work and using it; I just crack the visor open a bit as needed. In warmer weather that opened visor has let a wasp fly inside my helmet, that made for a little excitement and a quick stop, lol. In cold weather bugs usually aren't an issue. In real cold weather, I wear a thin balaclava that I pull up over my mouth & nose, it aids a lot in managing the fogging issue. fwiw
  25. I used to work as a front end user, on a variety of data bases, some with relational capabilities that were amazing, simple, functional platforms. I've also watched as conversion/data transfer projects on major records entry systems, ballooned from ten$ of million$ to hundred$ of million$, and in the end they never did function properly. I know there are some amazingly brilliant, computer savvy guzzisti, but website forums, I'm guessing are an extremely specialized niche of expertise; it's not just the set up, it's also the baby sitting and the maintenance. I know Beetle has a financial interest in Griso fanatics having a home base, but I don't know if he would have the expertise, time or inclination; hopefully someone does.
