Dang! I’ll have to remove the rear cowling so as to slide my ass back enough to reap the benefits. Those barn door and dirt track dudes were bad ass. Are those single cylinder engines? Sorry, I guess I don’t know my Guzzi’s deep lineage.

Thank you. The only thing that I’ve found on-line is Harpers but they list them as black. I could do a black one and have both left and right painted red, that might look cool. I’ll do a another search and see if I can come up with the Euro salvage or anything else.

I am looking for the left side bracket that goes from the seat area to the muffler and holds the passenger foot peg for a 2001 V11 Sport. Silver, not bent, and in good condition. Please let me know if you have one to spare. Thanks!

Filling up today I spilled a bunch of gas all over the rubber or neoprene or what ever it’s made of tank “chin pad”. I never really thought about the chin pad much. It just seems like a black stripe down the tank and I can’t see how it serves any purpose except maybe giving a tank bag more grip. Kind of a weird thing to put on a tank. Am I missing something? I can’t see MG putting something at the gas filling area that would be harmed by gas, but will the gas getting on or soaked into the pad hurt it or cause it to deteriorate? Looking at this chin pad it looks like something that would fade and crack over the years like a bad Volvo dashboard, especially while being rode around in the blazing southern California sun. In addition to treating the effects of gas spills on the chin pad, are there things to do to keep to chin pad in good condition? Cheers, and Chin Up, Mates!

There are a couple of 2000 era California models on the CL down here. It might be a cool project to do a stripped down / bobber Tonti cruiser. Anyone done this or have examples of this? I have thought a T3 project, probably a cafe type bike would be great, and I’ve seen many examples of this, but the Tonti family seems to range over many styles. So the Tonti frame and the Spine frame were made concurrently? I thought it was a linear progression from Loop to Tonti to Spine to whatever came after..... The Griso looks like something out of Aliens. Is the big silver exoskeleton tube the frame? The current V7’s look like Tonti bikes.

All of these bikes look great. My first real motorcycle was a ‘76 850T. I love my V11, but my old T was a fun and bomb-proof ride. I do have a question about the Tonti frame platform: my understanding is that bikes from the the 70’s era LeMans and T’s up to the early 2000’s era California model dresser and cruiser style bikes are considered to be Tontis. Did the frame geometry change for the different styles of Tontis? If you stripped a late 70’s LeMans down to a rolling chassis and did the same to a mid-2000’s California, how different would the frames and geometries be?

I finally know what the the tree-way toggle switch is for! Heated grips. Those are something that I would not even think about, and it’s so friggin’ hot here (the state is a big bon fire right now) I never noticed. I guess that’s a cool thing. If it’s freezing out the palms of my hands will be comfy while the rest of my hand freezes.

Hello folks! I would love to hear about: What do you carry for an on the road tool kit, something that can live under the seat of the bike? My V11 did not come with one. One tool that I do need to acquire is the wrench to adjust the rear mono shock spring pre-load (‘01 V11 Sport, with a white colored spring). Which rear shock wrench is best for this bike? What is required and recommended to keep under the seat for road side and basic care? Any other essentials, spares, etc? Thank you!

What do you call your V11S?...

That guy sounds like his head bolt was torqued too tight. The other day I told someone I ride a lime green Moto Guzzi, and he says, “a V11 Sport?” See, he ID’d “My Green Goddess”, no problem. -
Yes, a little old lady from Pasadena. Not quite, but it would have been interesting to have come of age in the late ‘50’s / early ‘60’s.

It seems that I am just beginning to scratch the surface of the deep shit that you guys are into! ’68 drip edge Fender Twin Reverb here. I love twins, be it motorcycles, guitar amps, or ladies. I played this amp along with a Magnatone M15 for years with a ‘65 Emmons D-10 pedal steel in local bar bands, until I got too busy with my business and had to sell off a bunch of gear to raise cash for the biz. I still have the ‘68 Twin and my homemade Strat. Now I mostly do saxophone yoga (anyone into tenor sax?), but break out the Strat and the Twin when I feel the call to play blues real loud so I can hear the texture of the tubes. I feel what someone said earlier about Guzzis and old tube gear having soul and demanding attention but returning love....something like that. I’m analog all the way. Except for on-line forums and email I write with an Olympia manual typewriter and a few nice ink pens. I have a tenuous relationship with my phone and see it going onto a skeet trap soon.

Sweet! None more red.

It’s now down to $3350. If I hadn’t just bought my V11 Greenie I’d be taking a ride out there to check it out. There’s also an 850T3 (my first love!) in West Virginia on EBay for $2000. I wish it were closer. I’d love to have an 850 T/T3/LeMans project. These bikes get under your skin!

Thanks for the info!

Very nice. What is the fairing? Is that the Magni?
-
What is this finish issue on my V11’s triple clamp? Is the finish a silver paint that is peeling or flaking? Any ideas on how to restore or rectify this? Thanks

I’ll go with “So Pretty My Cycle”. What else could it be? Makes total sense!
-
Yes they do. They’re Guzzi. Thanks for asking me the obvious. I’m an idiot!

What a great red.....is it the same red as Ferrari? Is there relief to the eagle and letters? They look raised rather than a flat decal.

I live in La Habra Heights, next to Whittier, south-east L.A. County. I go out to Santa Monica often for work and to visit my daughter. Give me a shout when you’re in town! Cheers!

Hi folks, I have a perhaps trivial question, but it’s perplexing me: My ‘01 V11 Sport greenie has the letters, “SPMC” printed on the rim of the wheels. I have not seen this on other Guzzis, nor can I find any information on SPMC wheels. Is this an in-house Guzzi wheel, an after market wheel? Other the lettering they look like the regular three spoke cast wheel. Anyone familiar with SPMC?

That’s something to look forward to. A tour through the southland would be a lot of fun. The south is one part of the country that I have not had the pleasure of seeing much of. Yet I have always felt a deep affinity for the music and the food! A lot of soul in both.

I’m looking forward to that!
