you're all sadists ! one day of riding approximately 300 miles on my 2001 v11 and i'm daydreaming for a nice less aggressive lemans riding position
-
it's not even italian for crying out loud !!! you'rea microsoftie and thus a defacto millionaire...who care's about the ST4's exhorbetant service interval prices ? personally i'd stick with yer bike, it ran great till you started ff"ing with it... hmm pretty much like mine come to think of it

You might want to take a wee looksee at the Tuono to se if the Tuono bars might have come from the same parts bin.

power commander or titanium pipes w/computer
robbiekb replied to fernando's topic in Technical Topics
Actually this would be a great topic for someone like Todd to chime in on because I also heard a similar story Here's what I heard, then i'll explain my scepticism So basically I was told that the ECU that comes with the Guzzi "Race kit" actually has more ROM and has a faster processor. The theory being that just by itself it does a better job of addressing and transmitting data. Now this information was proferred to me because I already have a PC3 and the the theory was that the new ECU coupled with my PC3 would really show a marked improvement in throttle response. Not having put the two ECU's on the bench and played with em myself (for some reason i don't think dave gross would be too stoked if i nicked his for a wee while ), I must admit that my sneaking suspicion (knowing Guzzi) is that it's the same ECU just with a custom map for the TI pipes that they provide. Of course the instant you mess with yer air box, or the crossover would make this map out of whack anyways. so i guess the real question here is has anyone take nthe time to look at the two ECU's to see if they are in fact the same unit with different maps OR is the newer ECU simpler a "faster, "better" brain that provides quickly sampling time and processing ? -
Dave, I will not let you sell your bike Firstly this didn't happen until the new airbox went on right ? Di anything else change other than the Map ? You'll be heartbroken if you buy something else, my recomendation is to just suck it up (it's raining today anyways ) . I'm having to do the same thing with my bike. The great thing is that once it's set up, you will be good to go because you've already made all of the improvements that you will ever need to make ..or you could buy that Furia

i've also noticed that the newer V11's seem much more "sorted" from the getgo than my 2001 model. My bike wouldn't hold an idle for the first 1000 miles or so and basically ran like crap until it mysteriously stop vibrating like crazy, smoothed out and became pretty civilised around the 100 mile mark. Needless to say i didnae cane the motor during this period, the engine just felt too tight

So the restaurant we got sick at was the "Hula Hut" man it so sucked, we were projectile vomitting for 4 days

Dave Gross wil put centauro footpegs and bar risers on it

Hey Supertwin, Which is your dealership ? I'm actually interested in a Ghezzi Brian beleive it or not (No Dave, i'm not buying a Furia !!! **laughs**) My finace's business is out of Austin Texas and last time i was down there i noticed that there was a ghezzi brian dealer near Dallas. Unfortunately fate stopped me from being able to visit as we both got drastically sick after eating something that disagreed with us at a local austin restaurant ( i lost 13 poudns of body weight in 3 days !) so anyways I'm interested in talking some more about the Ghezzi Brians if you're licensed to sell em

I already have a trailor hitch on the H2 oh and sidesteps as well plus it's tough enough keeping up with her without adding more weight onto my bike

i rode a mille rsvr last weekend and got kinda bored trying to keep the speed at a "sensible" level . the new crossover and high compression pistons in my v11 sure felt good though erm i'd buy a slow expensive italian bike if i was in lust with it....andi 'd race it too..in fact now that my v11 is paid off i'll probably race it and lose miserably and girn from ear to ear th whole time

Yo Dave, so i was reading a report in BIKE magazine(best motorcycle mag on the planet) where they were saying we should run the crappiest octance fuel possible with our setups. i think im heading by MI today to pick up my bike. when you going to be there ? robbie
-
Ian, if you hadn't had the bike remapped before changing the crossovers it would run like crap i'm putting out about 90rwhp right now with my stucchi crossover, mistral ti's, K&N pods and the high compression pistons and would never go back

one word mgcycle.com they always have everything
-
Does yor Supertwin still have the 5 speed box or did you mate it to the new Guzzi box ? I think i missed that.

I can't believe that someone hasn;t mentioned ":Silver Dream Racer" with David Essex yet ? Released in 1980, the final bike race was at Silverstone in the UK. For some strange reason the re-release DVD cuts 3 minutes off the end so that we don't have to deal with the sad ending i guess **laughs**

hahaha yuppers i use my left thumb for the space bar, but i actually use my right thumb for keys on the bottom row of the keyboard. I learned this wacky speed typing while working for the british version of 411 in college and it worked great till i snapped the right thumb. The resultant sow down in that digit coupled with the fact that i don't slow down my typing is typically the reason why i end up gettting all dyslexic in my mails when i get excited going from split/non split keyboards all the time doesnae help either
-
apologies for the typo's by the way I snapped my thumb snowboarding 9 years ago and have never recovered the dexterity in it (or at least thats my excuse!)

are you looking for OEM replacements ? are you stock ones damaged ? or do you just want a different look ? as far as the Pipe hangers go, if you mean the exhaust hi mounts, if you do a search on the forum, Al discovered that the Hi mounts from the 1100 sport are the same part as that offered by guzzi as part of the race package sans an adapted which you can purchase from Moto International.

Nice pic You must be lighter than me, i'm goign to have to start to cheat and stand up a bit when i'm hoisting the wheel **laughs** I get my bike back today. I'm pretty stoked !
-
how high are you talking when you say "loft" The best i can manage with my weight and ride position is around 6-8" or so before the bike bangs against the rev limiter, upshifting with that little front wheel up causes it to drop again once im in 2nd. A wee tad more power or less gut on me (i'm 190lbs) and i might be able to "get it up" **laughs** robbie

DAve Richardson at Moto International is the writer of Guzziology. I knwo he was working on a new version of his book. You might want to call there or email to see what his release schedule is.

2004 Nero Corsa vs 2001 V11 Sport comparison
robbiekb replied to robbiekb's topic in Technical Topics
i'm working on it -
I'll be honest with you, my bike has also been in the shop since June 23rd and I go to a Dealer that consistantly wins awards for excellence. I know it can be frustrating but when I purchased my bike I knew i'd made a conscious decision that I wasn't buying a bike that had a phenominal dealer or supply network. These are much smaller volume machines and we pay for that exclusivity to a certain extent. My friend bought an R1150R, he loves it, I kinda found it boring, he doesn't understand why I write my bikes flaws as "character" With the recall the Dealer has to have the parts in the shop before they can perform the work on your bike. If you dropped off your bike and then they sent away the recall informaiton to MGNA, it would take that amount of time.

So I just had a test ride of a 2004 Nero Corsa and had the opportunity to do a head to head comparison with my 2001 V11 Sport. First up, I was amazed that with only 7miles on the clock, the nero would hold an idle ! My V11 wouldn't idle right for the first 500 miles. The next thing that blew me away was the throttle response on the newer bike. I've always felt a lag between opening the throttle and something happening on my V11, which often leads me to being kinda ham fisted in my riding. not so with the Nero. Ok now lets talk about the actual ride quality. WOAH ! The ohlins totally transofrmed the bike, even with the stock springs and suspension settings, there was no wallowing in corners or "squidgy-ness", basically the bike felt significantly lighter yet at the same time more balanced and composed. It didn't exhibit the "dive-in" that i get on my V11 when i'm pushing hard on corners. I attribute this to the different wheelbase and geometry of the later bike. Other things i noticed, the clutch seemed way lighter and the finish quality was much much better. Despite the longer stretch to the bars, the riding position seemed more comfortable , in fact I remember thinking at one poin that this is probably what it feels liek to ride an ST2 or a BMW The few quibbles that I did have were due to easily fixable things. With the increased stability, the engine really does feel emasculated in stock trim. Not only is my bike significantly louder (always a good thing) but it was way more powerful. On the dyno it was putting out over 13 more rwhp than the nero. It's pretty safe to put this down to thenew engine of the Nero as well as the pipes, airbox and power commander that i'm running. All in all I cme away slightly awed about how much better the Nero was than my 2001. I think it's going to be pretty easy for me to justify to myself why I should buy the Nero and keep my V11 as they feel so different to ride. On little niggly thing though, every time i'd go to use my turn signals i'd honk the horn as MG in their infinite wisdom moved the switchgear, oh well....
