Mallory Park, Festival of 1000 bikes event this weekend organised by the Vintage & Classic motorcycle club, here is the Moto Guzzi Club GB “tent” being set up, we have several Guzzi’s on display including my Rosso Corsa Really hot day, temperatures reaching 85 F, lots of track day action on the circuit, fabulous opportunity to meet many other Guzzistas and see a wide variety of bikes classic & modern

I spent 3 days last week in the Valleys between Swansea & Neath, and enjoyed sampling some Tomas Walkins Ale. There’s plenty of ale sunk in the valleys, it is an ex-mining region, and although the mines have long since closed the tradition lives on Here’s another gratuitous pic of my Rosso Corsa next to the Matlock telephone booth yesterday. The boozer is 20 yards away over the road, temperatures reached 80 deg F yesterday, the boozer was rammed

Absolutely agree. I’ve never found a tyre shop willing to repair a run flat puncture. Even with a non deflated tyre that hasn’t been driven. I’ve even offered to take the wheel off the car, and take it to the tyre shop as a loose wheel to repair. No tyre shop will cooperate

Gentlemen, thanks very much for your advice, I’ll try the mushroom plug, I’ve already ordered a new tyre but this 180/55 x 17 will fit my black framed V11’s so if I can salvage it and get some use from it, it makes a lot more sense than scrapping a virtually new tyre its been a bad month for tyres, 2 weeks ago whilst I was away my son was using my 330 Beemer, picked up a nail in a front tyre which deflated, but because it’s a run flat, it couldn’t be repaired, so a scrap tyre that was barely 5 months old, and being a front I can usually get +40,000 miles on RWD Beemers. I’d rather have a spare wheel & loose some truck space than the modern trend of run flats & tyre sealing foam… Rant over, thanks for your advice

Due to overseas business travel commitments I’ve been away for most of the past five weeks, so no chance for much riding. Yesterday was home early, beautiful summer evening, decide to go on a ride to a local pub around 25 miles away for a bike meet. Haven’t used my Griso much recently, so forgoing the pleasure of a V11 off I went. During the evening picked up a nail in the rear tyre - brand new Metzler Sportec only a month old less than 50 miles usage! Nail close to the shoulder - tyre supplier tells me unrepairable - another new rear tyre at GBP£180 ! Why is it that only new tyres seem more prone to picking up nails etc That was one expensive ride

Brilliant, an “English” boozer with a classic red telephone booth, and a silver V11. It doesn’t get any better than that. I always seem to park next to the old red telephone booth in Matlock Bath. The nearest boozer is just over the road…..

Collected the silver V11 from Twiggers in Loughborough today, new Diablo Rosso II rear tyre & throttle bodies balanced. It’s a national holiday here today in the UK, so spent part of the afternoon giving the Rosso Corsa & Silver Sport a good clean,

Throttle body balance today for the “grape ape” at Twiggers in Loughborough. Although they haven’t sold new Guzzi’s for several years, and the retail part of the business is now closed, their workshop is open for repairs & servicing. There aren’t many independent Guzzi specialists left in the UK, and I value being only 15 miles away

But did Tony Foale get his backbone frame inspiration from Fritz Egli ?

I’ve always used Motul or Putoline 10-40 semi synthetic in the V11s, but the issue of the amount of ZDDP present is relevant as they’re flat tappet motors and there’s no information about these oils ZDDP ppm level For the 8v high cam motor from the Griso / Stelvio, a fully synthetic 10w60 is the manufacturer recommended grade, as is a must as it’s an oil / air cooled motor with additional coolant galleries in the heads. My Griso has a roller tappet motor, and the saga of the premature failure of the flat tappets has been well documented, presumably not helped by the lack of ZDDP in todays oils

My wife did manage to fill a suitcase as big as your steamer trunk case, and get it aboard the P&O Britannia on a recent cruise, but that was a 150,000 ton cruise ship, so about the size of a Harley bagger, but probably with a better turning circle

I’ve got a Ventura rack on my MT01, but I’ve never attached such a huge bag, I just bungee small soft luggage to the rack

Lol, brilliant. I should be able to squeeze into a 17 inch tyre despite excessive pie consumption

New Pirelli rear arrived to fit to my silver Sport the problem is how do I transport this tyre on the bike to the fitting shop, a journey of around 12 miles. I have no “steamer trunk” sized luggage system ! Don’t really want to bungee the tyre to the pillion seat either. Maybe devise some way of carrying it on my back ? Any ideas?

I’ve taken the body work off, I’ve taken the body work off, had it resprayed & clear coated, plus sourced a new Le Mans logo, but that was a gloss finish, a professional paint shop should be able to handle refinishing the matte finish That’s one heck of a steamer trunk, should be good for at least a 2 week Caribbean cruise

Picked my Rosso Corsa up from Twiggers in Loughborough today, following throttle body balance & fixing a slow puncture that was due to a leaky valve. Great ride back home, with the bike more responsive than ever
