I think Martin lost his chance to be in the factory team. He should have been preferred to Enea Bastianini. Now, it is too late!
-
When Marquez overtook Bagnaia, the crowd's howling was so loud that people at the next corner heard it! reported by those who were at the track.
-
Aprilia is unreliable, and even if he goes there, there is no guaranty. They never have the consistency Ducati has shown. KTM would be a better choice, but Jack Miller's seat is normally going to go to Pedro Acosta. Unless they keep Acosta on GasGas, and take Jorge Martin to team up with BB.
-
You are almost certainly correct. There is no way Ducati is not going to choose Marquez over Martin. Before anything else, those racing in MotoGP are doing it for Marketing presence. Signing Marc Marquez at a bargain is a given. In fact, I was following the French report about the race today, and when Ducati signed Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Marquez was also an option which ultimately did not work because he was extremely expensive. From what I understand, he is no longer requesting a star'salary, but a motorcycle to win one more championship. So Martin is almost certainly going to be sacrificed for Marquez, even if Martin wins the world championship this year.

I am tempted to say that Enea Bastianini is most likely no longer an option for the second Ducati seat in 2025. Even as strong a racer he is, he is being outclassed by the other two hopefuls. As for Marquez, I have to admit that a repeat of the coming back from a long way down twice in a row is certainly something exceptional. In a clean way too! he did not send anyone down unlike previous attempts. Chapeau! Bagnaia was unlucky for the sprint, but admitted that he was outclassed during the race. That certainly speaks volume. All being said, this season is so far turning out to be almost a Ducati show. Sometimes there is an exception, but it really looks like you need a Ducati to be a player. Acosta did his first mistake in a race on Sunday. Too bad, but inevitable. Excepted for him though, the KTM are being a bit opaque this season.

Even if I don't particularly appreciate MM93, I must say that starting from 13th on the grid, to end up on the rostrum is impressive. Especially his first lap. He showed everybody how determinate he remains. Maybe someone else would have played it safe; Marquez went on with its make-or-break time. I am not certain he will be able to achieve that same outcome tomorrow, but I would not put it past him either. Jorge Martin stated that he would understand Ducati if they were putting Marquez in the factory team, even if Martin ultimately wins the world championship.

I saw that!

After the Sprint race, I am puzzled with BB... it seems there is only one KTM rider now, and it is named GasGas. By the way, there are a lot of GasGas motorcycles here, but not that many KTM.

@Ali Fra I was at Imatra in the 70's, before getting my motorcycle's driver license. I was with a moped, all the way from Paris. Some unknown Finish enthusiasts boarded me during the Grand-Prix. I still remember them. This was fun because at the time, you could invite a stranger to your house without thinking twice. I have a little philosophy when it comes to purchasing a V11; you just go with it without thinking about what could go wrong, or not. If you experience a small disagreement, turn it into something positive. Riding a V11 will make you a different person. You only get it once it is your possession, not someone else's. Don't let anything stop you from jumping the gun. Let your passion lead you! all the rest is simply here on this forum, so you will have absolutely no pain or hassle to get everything together. I wish I was on your side of the earth, as I know my Quota would have loved to frolic in Finland. Welcome home!

I have to agree with you, third behind the untouchables, this is indeed a performance. What is surprising is Binder's relegation to the bottom of the pack. I could not find anything about it written. I did not understand what Pedro Acosta was hinting on when he said communication with the other riders is difficult. Of course, it is difficult, given that he has dimensioned the entire of KTM since the beginning of the season.
-
KTM has taken care of it already. They have secured his services for many years to come. Binder is obviously under pressure, and when you are under pressure, you make mistakes. I still see Bagnaia and Martin favorites for the sprint and race. Marc Marquez is doing what he said he would avoid, taking risks too early. There is the illusory ride in the Ducati factory next year, and he absolutely wants it; needs it. I am pretty certain he is going to come out of Q1. He has not got much time, as Dall Igna said the rider next to Bagnaia will be announced at the Mugello.

I was reading a statement from one of the main deciders of the new owners of MotoGP; the obvious intention is to strip down those European countries with more than one GP, to redistribute them to countries that do not currently have one. The intention is to keep 22 GP in total, but Spain with its 4 GPs and Italy with its 2 would go to host a single event per season. The new target would be South America, and of course, a second GP in the US, because as we know, charity begins at home... it was never by chance that Dorna privileged Spain.

If you take a look at crash.net, Nadia Padovani has officially ruled out that her team could join Yamaha next year. Furthermore, she said that she hopes to be able to stay with Ducati when the present contract is up for renewal. Pramac's team manager says he is in no hurry to confirm what they will do until the option to remain with Ducati time out, end of July 2024. So Lin Jarvis' affirmation that Yamaha will have four M1s on the grid in 2025 seems to be a little presumptuous at this point in time.

So, based on all the answers on this thread and through private messages, it is obvious this CBX is not for someone like myself. I jumped at the opportunity because that bike is in Texas, close to one of the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas stop I am about to make. Checking it out was going to be simple. The engine is a lottery, and anything can be wrong with it. That unknown can turn out to be incredibly expensive, and even more expensive than purchasing a CBX in good working order. Some of the bike's part are not stock, (thanks again for pointing it out, you will recognize yourself!). There seems to be no easy/reasonable way to get someone to work on it. Therefore, I will ditch that idea, at least for the time being; until I come across another CBX 1000.

Wouldn't a change of ownership automatically void a contract signed with a different entity? I think it would. In any case, I do not see what Alex Marquez could do differently. His brother is currently shadowing him, which is unfortunate.
-
We agree on me financing his desire to work on a CBX. He was more enthusiastic than me about getting the bike. I am not going to pay for his training. To your point about getting what you wish for, I remember all my friends warning me about getting married... I still went ahead with it, and then.... got what they meant. Seriously, I am not going to purchase a lemon. I am doing my homework. This thread attests it. Once I meet the guy, check the bike out, I will not buy it on the whim of the moment.

You remember when a member of this forum was stating that he was losing audience on his own forum, maybe based on the photos he posted, that could have offended some members? I answered that keeping a forum active is also based on how much new content is added. If the forum is "dormant", members check it less, and it soon becomes vacant. Yesterday, I joined and posted my question on CBX World. Guess how many answers? I am not even sure anyone looked at the post. This is the issue. On this forum, whoever asks a technical question gets acknowledged, even if the question is not immediately answered. That makes a big difference.

1) hmm.... it is not that I could not fix it myself. It is just a matter of workspace and tooling. As for biker buddies, I do not have anybody that I know with a CBX 1000; at least at this point in time. Davey says he maybe able to help me with someone that he says used to own one. 2) I don't know if that guy is a great mechanic... actually, to understand if someone is "great", you need to work with him for a little while, so you can judge. This guy is young, self-taught, which does not mean much, one way or another. Take a look at the video herewith. In France, near Paris, we have a college that specializes in fixing automotive stuff. I would certainly trust someone who graduated from there. 3) I certainly don't need one. I still would like it though. 4) The forum is a nice comfort zone because it is like a blog of the well known issues of the V11. It is like a perpetual memory.

The only issue that prevented me from getting one, is that the correction area is really in front of the eyes. The rest is normal glass. So you need to learn not to move your eyes, but your entire head to look at something not directly in front of you. I found the contact lenses more practical, until I was no longer able to wear them.

Yet, I thought only Gresini had a contract running until the end of 2025 with Ducati?! From what I understood, Pramac contract ends on 2024, with an option to continue in 2025. VR46 is said to have declined changing machinery. Since Lin Jarvis affirmed there will be four M1 in 2025, I guess you are correct, it is got to be Gresini, most likely with 2 2025 spec'ed M1.
