I did the Graceland tour in Memphis. I also went to the Sun Studio which allegedly turned his life around. I took the tour because I was in Memphis to visit the Gibson Guitars factory before its closing in 2019. It seems that every celebrity has to be tempted by chemicals for whatever reason. Michael Jackson and propofol, Prince and Fentanyl, so many more. Ah, maybe I am just as bad with my addiction to Moto Guzzi though....

A Guzzi Races the Isle of Man TT
p6x replied to Randy's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Not finishing the race for running out of gas must have been very frustrating indeed! even more when it never happened before in all the practices. 33rd out of 37 in qualifying is respectable. What does "FCR" stands for? -
There is a lot of technical material on this forum; depending on your level, you may not completely understand it. It requires a minimum understanding of some of the basics of tuning indirect injection systems. It is not overly complicated, but some of us have never really done anything mechanical. It is just how it is today. Similar to handwriting. If you have never done anything like this before, you maybe know someone that did? As @po18guy stated, do you have all the necessary hardware and software to start the task?

The older motorcycles are going to slowly but surely go away, unfortunately. Most of the guys riding them are passionate, and most likely want to ride a V11 by choice. The "younger" riders are probably more interested in bikes that are more modern, and have fewer flaws or require less effort to maintain. I am thinking that because of the lack of options for maintaining an older bike, some may just pass on. Especially when you are getting older, physically, it is really difficult. -
I agree with you. I have to come back on my previous statement that Marc Marquez would be doing the "arbitrage" between Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin. When you look at the last two GP, Aragon and Misano, Marc Marquez becomes untouchable as soon as the track condition are complicated. In Aragon, the asphalt was terrible after the two showers on Friday and Saturday night. In Misano, the rain during the race demonstrated that our two major protagonists can't fare up to Marc Marquez. Bagnaia admitted that he could not keep Marc's pace. After the next Misano GP, the caravan embarks for the offshore dates, and there, anything can happen in terms of weather. If any of these poor conditions are met, my money is on Marc Marquez to be able to reel in the two top Ducatisti. 53 points difference with Jorge Martin and 7 more GP left, Marc can easily come back.

Sure! I may go to the Panhandle this weekend, to complete my 2024 Motorcycle Texas tour, depending on the weather. I don't want to ride under the rain with terrain tires. I am planning to stay at the Big Texan in Amarillo. I am not going to take the 72 ounces steak challenge, but I will certainly sample their BBQ. Actually, we could go to Brenham and have a meal at either Pioneer or Truth BBQ. Truth is a very popular spot; I usually favor Pioneer because it is family owned and run.

This festival is focused on Adventure Bikes; if you watch it using a YouTube application, not YouTube in a browser, you can get English automatic translation. It is a very long video with a lot of information. No Moto Guzzi, unfortunately, but the major players are there. Edit: I asked in the comments, and the answer was Moto Guzzi only had a very small stand with no motorcycle. They were only there to propose tours in the region for Moto Guzzi owners that come to check in with them.

It did not take much to exacerbate the quality of the forces on track! It was quite impressive to see how experience is still the thing... This weekend, we have Moto America at COTA. A QUOTA @COTA?... lol!

It is fairly common. If you check the new subscribers, you will see there are many entrants, but they never post. They will come here after searching for something, and getting a redirect to this site. Once they get the information they were looking for, or not, they may also register, with no intention to post. Forums like this one have become obsolete. Especially because they are not free of charge, but mainly because they have been replaced by "Discord" of Facebook. Many forums are dying because they have very little activity. Of course, the principal reason is you only come when you need something.

I assumed you have emailed him since he has his address in the OP.

Tom; You cannot really compare Moto Guzzi prices in Europe with that of the USA. No later than today, I went to my favorite dealership, there were some younger riders who all got mesmerized by my Quota... first time in their lives seeing a Moto Guzzi! one of them had a cousin who owns a V7; the only one who knew about the brand. Here, at least in Texas, the brand is confidential. Ducati is better known, but Japanese and UK brands are more popular outside of the Harley and Indian. I purchased my 2004 Le Mans for 6000 USD at 8800 miles. This one is shown at 11,000 USD OBO. To me, those modifications are not enticing, but rather a deterrent.

I do not understand everything that was quoted in the details; someone can clarify? my guesses in hopeful blue. Carillo Connecting Rods? MRM Forged Pistons 10.25 to 1 C/R? Compression ratio to 10.25/1? Windage Plate in Sump? is this the same function as the so-called "Roper" plate? Megacycle 620 x 10 Camshaft? Cylinder Head Stage 2 CNC Ported Flow-bench Tested? to accommodate the new intake and exhaust valves size? Giouanni Straight Cut Timing Gear Set? Replacement of the timing chain with sprockets? Four miserable low resolution photos for such a nice motorcycle.... It is only six hours and a half from Houston, and I still have a few stops left to do in the panhandle. Maybe I should go to photograph that bike, if it is still there then...

Just as a tip, you may have wanted to paste your narrative in your post. I added all your photos!

You may want to send him a personal message. He may not be checking the site very much with only two messages posted since he joined. I am guessing he only came here to list his bike. A personal message will send an alert to whatever email he uses.

Something occurred to me after FP2. Marc Marquez is in the exact same situation as he was in 2015, when he was in between Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi chasing the title. But today's situation is slightly different in that Francesco Bagnaia will be Marc Marquez coequipier next year, and of course, Ducati will be Marc's employer too. Also, Marc Marquez is not so far away in terms of points since there are two races per race weekend. Is he going to be "il terzo incomodo"? (odd man out).

In some languages, including mine, we have formal sentences and were taught to always refer to people we did not know well using the appropriate formal sentences. The same does not exist in English. When I first started to work for US businesses, everyone called everybody by their first names. This was a revelation, and it sounded strange, as in French, you always use Sir followed by the last name. In my culture, when you call someone by his first name, it means something. Or it used to. You would only call your close friends or family by their first names. Someone you work with, you will use the formal way. You would also say "Vous" and not "Tu". Also in my culture, we kiss on the cheeks the ladies we greet, and we shake hands with the men. This is something that did not export well here (the kissing the lady). While in Houston, a former female colleague of mine got transferred to my section, and we kissed in the morning... HR said we should not.... lol...

Yes indeed! I remember because when I wanted to purchase a Quota from a gentleman in Boise, he told me the previous owner had retuned it with a map from "Beetle". He said "the map was architected by Beetle", in a way that meant "Beetle" was THE authority in that field. Did I understand that he customizes maps to your own specific application? I have never looked at griso.org, so I don't really know.

I usually use the last name, or I try to. Bagnaia. His first name is Francesco, although he goes by "Pecco" for everyone in the paddock. I don't use Pecco personally, because I am not intimate enough to allow myself to use a sobriquet for him. I can somewhat refer to that, as all my life I have been called P6 or 6. Having strange names that don't pronounce well in other languages is never a perk. I learned my lesson early, because I had a colleague from Egypt who used a nickname for his wife all the time. I mistakenly thought it was something I should use too, but it turned out it was something that was complimenting a specific part of her anatomy, which of course was not for everyone's privilege. Because the word was in Arabic, I did not know...
