  1. Those testy photos..... you only need to copy their URL into the message, however some sites such as Amazon Photos do not allow embedding. This site does not let you upload photos as it would require much more storage space. To post a photo, you need to upload it/them into a photo hosting site, and insert the link into your post. I personally use flickr.com, which let you upload up to one thousand photos without subscribing. But there are others. You create an account, upload your pics, open the photo you want to post here, copy the URL, paste it and voilà, le tour est joué!
  2. There is a site, named "ragazze in moto", which specializes in publishing user's female motorcyclists photos. This morning, I decided to sift through the plethora of photos, and could not find a single one on a Moto Guzzi! What does this tell us? most of the posts are from Italian ragazze, but not only. Ducati seems to be the number one choice; that makes sense, Ducati is sexy looking, even on its own. I was expecting to see a few V100 Mandello here and there. Instead nada, or should I say niente! I peruse this site often to get some inspiration for a possible photo shoot with the red Le Mans.
  3. When I was in France in November last year, I did try one of those Helite Airbags; They seem to have reached out to FortNine for some exposure. Next time I go to France, I think I will get one and sell my Alpinestars AirTech 5 which is useless to me in that you need to wear it underneath a jacket, and I don't think it would be wise to wear directly on your skin either, since it is not the kind of garment you can wash if you sweat in it. Helite does not require a subscription, which should be pricing Klim outside the market, given the ludicrous amount of money one would have to spend to unlock all the safety features, some of those features in recurrent payments? how can a company be greedy with safety? I am going to try combining my Bowtex Helite with an Helite H-moov backpack in the Texas heat. I was not aware you could remove the pack from the bag itself, which makes it ever more appealing. The self recharging comes handy too, compared to my TechAir five that needs to be sent back to Alpinestars every two years or 500 hours, whichever come first. This is an additional 179.95 USD + Taxes, + shipping. I think the Helite H-mooV is a better solution.
  4. I thought I should give you an update on my Quota Quest; I am waiting on the current owner to give me an update on the tires' status. It all comes down to that I want to bring it back to Houston, riding it. Also, the cold front was not really ideal to ride. The communication is slow, and I do not want to pester him since he hinted that selling the Quota was not a big priority, that he had some more pressing matters to settle, and he was overwhelmed by the number of email he was receiving. Anyhow, we established that I was interested to purchase it, providing it was in the state shown on the photos. I believe those pictures are old, as the sticker is dated 2020, however he told me that he had re-registered the bike more recently. As soon as I get the word on the tire, I will schedule my flight to Phoenix. This will be my second attempt to come back with a bike via the road. The first one did not go too well.
  5. I am very fond of his ballads; "Cry for you" is one of his oldest, and kind of his signature song, which he plays to end most of his live performances; the version shown in this YT video is recent and done without his band. Nevertheless, a pretty good effort. I have the exact same guitar, purchased in 2000. Unfortunately, I now know that you need more than just the guitar to be a serious guitar player.... duh! Last photo is him and me, in Frankfort Germany, at the Music Messe. He is checking my guitar, and will letter play it during his set. Caution: we both looked a lot younger there...
  6. I am not an ace at troubleshooting a V11, but the discipline is always the same, for any investigation: -start with the easiest and obvious, and get deeper and more technical; have you checked the fuel? is the pump turning on when you switch on the ignition? are all the fuses ok? then check your plugs, check you have ignition...
  7. We had about 275 degrees K, it was freezing....
  8. I renegotiate my insurance policies each and every year. Especially housing insurances. What they do, is once they have onboarded you, they increase the premium each year, sometimes by stupid amounts; thus, since I have purchased a house, in December 2016, I have changed my housing insurance each and every year. Each year, the previous insurance companies increased the premium without any justification. I would actually self insure myself if I could. As you stated, those premiums you pay are all lost funds. Any damage you have, there is always a clause that you did not know about that is used to avoid reimbursing you. I am in a flooding zone, although we never got flooded, I am in a hurricane zone too. My household insurance does not cover flood. I do the same for energy. I change my power provider each time my contract is due. They usually have attractive deals to capture you. Where I am trapped, is with my ISP. We only have two providers, and there is no difference between them, even if they try to make it difficult to compare. My Progressive policy is due in March, so I am going to shop around to see if I can get two bikes for less than 40 bucks a month.
  9. I go from 25.17 USD per month, to about 40. USD; But it is not one in storage and the other active. Both are fully insured at all times, so they can be ridden together. I just need to develop ubiquity. The full coverage includes medical and litigation protection.
  10. I found the lack of ABS can also be a factor for a greater premium. Taking a safety riding course can be a decreasing factor, however.
  11. The principle was that, only from Farmers, only for cars. However, to prevent abuse, you had to tell which car was in storage, and which car was active ahead of time. At the time, I had multiple cars, only used one at a time. I would send an email, stating the day and the time, car 1 in storage, car 2 active. Or both cars in storage, or both cars active. The premium would be reduced accordingly, significantly, because I had the most comprehensive insurance policy. Since a lot of you on this forum have multiple motorcycles, I was curious if you had one policy per motorcycle, or if you had a compound = blanket coverage for several bikes, given that you could ride a single one at a time.
  12. Indeed. I am not really worried about material loss. Sure, it is annoying, but it is just "stuff" that you can replace. I however am very concerned with injury. Especially at my age, when everything takes a long time to fix itself. I do defensive driving, but there is only so much you can do. The daily traffic jams have exacerbated people's driving frustration, pushing them to take risks.
  13. There are a lot of differences with Europe here. Unlike Europe, you can be sued at a civil court for whatever reason the other party come up with, so you need to have some litigation protection. There are many lawyers specializing in personal injury claim. Also, if you are injured by an uninsured person, all the eventual medical expenses are out of your own pocket. Medical costs here are just unbelievable!
  14. I paid 327 dollars last year (12 months). This year, my premium is 302 dollars. But you have to factor in that I am a senior citizen.
  15. I am wondering if we can think of ourselves as true Moto Guzzi fans... Most of us live for their old glories; I find myself dying for more Moto Guzzi in my garage, but none of them modern! on my list is the slippery Quota, and I found out that I am seriously warming up to the California the EV 1100. I don't understand why the V100 Mandello nor the V100 Stelvio leave me cold. I wonder if it is not generation related? when I was younger, the vintage bikes did not really generate much interest. I was perusing all the new stuff catalogs. Today it is exactly the opposite.
  16. I have not seen one in the flesh here, but there aren't as many bikes at one place at a time as there are in Europe. Also, I need to factor the US is definitively very large. But when you ride towards a city in Europe, you are passed in continuation by motorbikes. I don't see that so much here, in Houston.
  17. Well, he could not find how to actuate the windshield.... He is one of those YouTube "influencers". I enjoyed watching the video, did not much care for what he was saying. I think the red V100 looks very good.
  18. If you own multiple motorcycles, you can't ride them all at once. Farmers, my previous insurance company, had a provision for owners who own multiple vehicles. You only ride one at a time, and the other is automatically in storage. Under storage, you are still covered for theft, fire, and other non-related to riding it incidents. It lowers the premium significantly. I am currently with Progressive, and they do not offer such a deal. Each vehicle is fully insured, even if in storage. Anyone knows of insurance making you pay a lump sum for all your motorcycles?
  19. Another very nice looking California Special Sport, this one with 23,300 miles. The seller has 98.9% rating on eBay and some oddities in his listing; such as tagging his used motorcycle as "new" and engine "1300", while his narrative states that he has been riding it for two years. He also says he is open to reasonable offers... I am already committed to that Red Quota in Peoria, but if I wasn't, I'd be very tempted. Now I am thinking a third motorcycle is kind of necessary too. https://www.ebay.com/itm/395126098463?hash=item5bff59ca1f:g:9xEAAOSwOrZlRBpJ Look at this beauty with the Guzzi bags!!!
  20. As long as the power holds, even if 50 is not much, especially indoors.
  21. Yes, my thoughts exactly; Moto Guzzi does not have the numbers to have their own engine. Nevertheless, I would never purchase a Moto Guzzi that I can't identify with. If I may use an analogy, to me, it would be like purchasing a Ducati without an L shaped Desmodromic engine. I know they made mono cylinders in the past, but today, anything Ducati is V2 or V4 Desmo. Even if I am aware they have produced non-Desmo engines like the V4 Granturismo using conventional spring valve return system, to increase maintenance intervals to every 60,000 km.
  22. Here we go... single digit temperatures in H'town. The good thing is so far, no power losses; at least not where I live.
