Here's the drawing of the gear selection mechanism: I have now had twice the shift lever item 12 coming off item 10 gear selection lever. o'ring items #14 is what limits the lateral movement of the shift lever item 12. I believe I am missing the spacer #15 and bushing insert #17 that keeps the first o'ring in place. The axe of the shift lever has two grooves in which the o'ring sit. In my situation, there is a 7mm lateral play, and with repeat gear changes, get the shift lever off the gear selection lever. The spline holder eventually gets out. If anybody knows someone who possess a Quota, please ask if they can give me the dimensions of item 17 and 15. For item 15, I should be able to find a washer here in the USA. For item 17, it would need to be a precise measurement, given that it goes around the selector axe and inside the sleeve that holds it. I don't think I could find it so I will need to have it manufactured.

You would adjust your valves gap during a ride? Those I would probably not consider; I had a little taste of the AMA emergency number when my V11 refused to start, and the assistance came with all the above mentionned. I know you were kidding, but my entire day was saved by the 10 and 13mm tools.

On March 1st, @PJPR01 and I set out to get our Texas Tour flags from Bandera. We had a rendez-vous at a café in Fayetteville. After pies and coffee, a start attempt on the Quota killed the lights, and thereafter no more power! the Quota has both side panels locked by quick 1/4 of turn screws. No tool needed to access both sides. Checked the fuses, checked all relay properly inserted. On the other side, moving the battery restablished power. But start attempt cut it off again. The seat had to come off, and we needed a 13mm spanner to remove it. After checking the battery connections, the two screws holding the connections showed no gaps, but were not fully tightened. Those have a combined philips/10 mm heads. Fortunately, a guy who witnessed the scene had a whole workshop in his truck. With one tool set imperial, the other metric!!! with the battery connections tight, everything went back to normal. The second mishap happened shortly after one of the stops made in Hondo. Item 10 of the drawing came off item 12. The gear box was stuck in 4th. Nylstop nut 19 requires a 10mm wrench. After loosening it with a proper 10mm combination flat wrench, the item 12 was reinserted and 19 locked again. To insert the splined axe into the gear lever 10, we used an adjustable spanner to hammer the gear shifter while holding the gear lever with another flat wrench from behind. Note: the adjustable spanner could not untight the 10mm nut. The morse would slip the edge. So I have established that I need a 10, 13, mm combination flat wrenches, and an aerospace metric 1/4" such as the one shown in the picture. Maybe a small hammer too... I discovered new screw head standards that I was not aware of; did you know about: Pozidriv® screws? Resistorx® screws? it seems that those Philips, Flat, Torx, are getting old... Now what do you have in your emergency tool kit with you at all time?

Have you changed your opinion after the Buriram race? I hope I am wrong, but I can easily see the 2025 being a one man show. I am going to accept that Francesco Bagnaia had an issue with the small tank that has to be installed for the sprint race. Simply because Jorge Lorenzo had that issue too, and started to be winning as soon as it was resolved. But during the main race, there wasn't any technical problem to overcome. The six Ducati were exactly the same for the opening GP. There are all GP24, and we can expect them to trust the front at each GP. The major surprise came from AI Ogura on the Aprilia, and I am extremely optimistic about Jorge Martin being able to throw a spanner in the Ducati works, once he gets back in shape. As for the rest of the field, unfortunately, not much has changed, especially that I now know that KTM is running the same 2024 machines, so we can expect the same unresolved difficulties. Honda seems to be on the right track. I heard through the grapevine that Pirelli may have gotten the MotoGP tire supply from 2027. I only read it on one of the Italian media Motosprint.it, but did not see any official announcement anywhere else. Here's the article: https://www.motosprint.it/news/eventi/gp-tailandia/2025/03/01-7969376/pirelli_in_motogp_dal_2027_le_ragioni_di_una_scelta Motosprint is a magazine, albeit only digital form today, that I used to read when I discovered it in the 80's in Italy. I liked the magazine only reported about motorcycling sports, and nothing else. In the article that you can google translate nowadays, they state its a done deal.

This was always, and remained one of my major issue in life. But it started as soon as I started in life, not because I grew old. Because I spent 35 years of my life living in various countries, I have accumulated a lot of souvenirs that have punctuated my time there, good or bad. Fortunately, because my company only have assignments for three years, and limited shipping options, I lost a lot of my possessions which I still remember and miss dearly today. In particular my childhood stuff, which I had managed to keep intact until the passing of my parents. When I look at my "stuff" today, I realize that I need to start unloading, but I am unable to initiate the process. But I know I should.

I agree with you. From what I understood, BMW was only interested in purchasing KTM's MotoGP interest, to get a foot in the door. But I do not think it goes further than the rumour, given that both BMW and KTM have said they have no comment on it.

Did you try to contact the company that purchased them? they no longer list Moto Guzzi in their cater product list, but they may have a something that can fit in?

What [music] do you listen to? Share your favs
p6x replied to Admin Jaap's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Found something different, but worth a listen. OTTA Orchestra; from Russia. The band members are exclusively female, among the rest of the orchestra. All the songs are written by the directing/piano lady. I like that they dress formally. I am a bit bumed out by all those new female musicians showing much more flesh than talent. -
Rumour has it, BMW may be purchasing KTM's interests in MotoGP; this is according to a unverified talks happening before the big meeting that will happen today on 25th of this month of February. KTM brand will survive, albeit with massive changes, and BMW would take over the KTM MotoGP racing department. Possibly as a spring board to slowly get into the competition with minimal learning curve. This actually is plausible. Following the three Ducati victories in Phillip Island last week-end, BMW did not really start strong, and Toprak Razglatioglu could very well make the move from WSBK to MotoGP on a factory team... Speaking about manual tramsmission, do you know that it is almost impossible to rent a car with manual transmission in the US? even with Turo?

This brought back a memory... I once flew from Paris to Rome seated next to a man wearing a cap with "Captain" on the front. Like on a ship. He had a dictaphone in his hand (yes, back then), and he went on reporting absolutely all the trivial matters for the duration of the flight; such as: -They have closed the doors -They are demonstrating the safety procedure; -They started the engines. -we are taxiing. -We are taking off; time is:..... -We took off. And so on. I remember thinking: what does he do with the recordings? today, I know. This is actually the audio version of all those "influencers" that document absolutely everything of what they do in life.

The major issue there is, after a quick look, most of the pressure switches have no description of the thread, usually NPT, and the pressure threshold at which the light will be triggered. Thanks to Stein-Dinse, we know that the pressure switch has a M12x150 thread, even if they list it as 1,5; the SI normalize way to call it is 150, so there is no confusion for those that have the dot as a decimal separation. In any case, it means a diameter of 12 mm, with a thread pitch of 1.5 mm (1,5mm). M12 is a parallel thread, so you are going to need a washer. @Docc: so here is one drop in replacement: https://www.carbuilder.com/products/oil-pressure-warning-light-switch-m12-x-1-5-5psi?_pos=1&_sid=a72d27301&_ss=r This oil pressure warning light switch is a crucial safety component for your vehicle. It triggers the dashboard oil light when the pressure drops below 5 psi, providing a timely alert to prevent potential engine damage. Featuring an M12 x 1.5 thread and a 1/4" spade connector, it's designed for easy installation and reliable performance. Ensure the longevity and safety of your engine with this essential switch. Triggers Oil Light: Alerts you when oil pressure falls below 5 psi. M12 x 1.5 Thread: Ensures compatibility with various vehicles. 1/4" Spade Connector: Simplifies installation. Maintains Engine Safety: Helps prevent costly engine damage.

Either the Volvo or the SAAB 9-3 convertible. The 1.9 Turbo was ahead of its time. I remember looking for one when I was looking for a convertible, but at the time, I only found the automatic transmission version, much more common in the USA.

ANSWERED Can a battery be recharged still connected on our older Guzzi?
p6x replied to p6x's topic in Technical Topics
I don't mind taking the seat off, it is easy enough. However the wires are really difficult to be held together to pass the screw in and then in the battery termina. Then you need to screw the nut. But the solution you are proposing seems easy enough. -
ANSWERED Can a battery be recharged still connected on our older Guzzi?
p6x replied to p6x's topic in Technical Topics
As with many technical topics, it seems difficult to concur on what the correct answer is. When I was told to not charge the battery while connected, my car was an ID 19 Citroën, which I had purchased for 200 French Francs (31 USD) at the time. The battery charging was through a dynamo, not an alternator. We know the current follows the path of least resistance, but the battery is in itself a large resistor. Anyway, I am going to look at maybe having a quick disconnect on these wires, if there is enough space to install one. -

Thanks! -
Just a little bit of context; when I got my first car, I was told to never recharge the battery while still connected; else I would damage the alternator. As I am mainly using my Quota during the colder days here in Houston, I want to keep the Odissey on my V11 charged. However, removing and reinstalling the connctions is cumbersome as there is very little space. I am asking as an abundance of precaution, because when you install tender connections on your battery, you are in a similar configuration.

Most of these "amateur" UTubers dreaming to get millions of subs speak like this. They squeeze as many words out as they can; possibly to keep their viewers watching? For me, when the video starts with a talking head, no images but just words, I just move on. But for videos like the one above, I simply mute it, and a scrub to find the images that may be of interest, if any. As for the motorcycle reviews, any of those with the video camera on their helmets, meaning jerky movements through the ride is a high pass too. At least, the two guys in the video above were real. Unlike A.I. generated images. But they are easily found because they CAN'T pronounce GUZZI properly... lol

Warning ⚠️- I was close to being scammed on the Classified Forum
p6x replied to HadaDaytona's topic in Personal Ads
@docc I have been part of an IT department towards the end of my career. I am certain you are aware that whatever is on your email server can be scrubbed, unless it is encrypted. I do believe that the private messages can be read by Jaap if he wanted to. Because he manages the forum. But it is not a big deal. Most of us have multiple email addresses, and we should also be aware that there is most likely very little confidentiality with either yahoo, Gmail, or what not. Anyway, the scammers have the ability to create whatever email address they need in an attempt to fool their targets. I receive a lot of phishing attempts on one specific address. See the one below; my ISP is actually Xfinity; each month, I receive that same email. It looks authentic, only my Xfinity bill is automatically drawn from my bank account. They don't know that. I keep telling Comcast about it, but they don't seem to be worried about it. Whoever is sending that email, is in Thailand, and there is nothing I can do about it. -
Warning ⚠️- I was close to being scammed on the Classified Forum
p6x replied to HadaDaytona's topic in Personal Ads
I donc think this is coming from this forum; I looked up his messaging activity, and did not see a request for Daytona RS parts. Wiring money in a bank to bank transfer is safe, buyer's account to seller's account. This is because it is impossible to open a bank account without the necessary credential. Especially now. To open a bank account, you need government identification, a verified address; in the USA, you need a social security number too. Scams are easier using those new methods of payments, even if they are some security checks, such as PayPal requesting a bank account backup. But PayPal is not as secure as a bank account. -
