  1. Do they have any kind of startup devices like in MotoGP? you know the ones that adjust the height of bike? initially only the rear, but now they have front and rear too.
  2. If I was Jake, I would really be annoyed at my team. Since he would be the one paying for the consequences of someone else's decisions. Unacceptable. What would his team tell him if he gets banned to race for several races because of this? not smart... I am hoping the illegal fuel was a single time mistake.
  3. Prepare yourself to be annoyed next year.... Jorge Lorenzo said that MM93 will most likely be a tittle contender in 2024. Marc Marquez needs another title badly since his best enemy has one more than he does. The initial plan was to at least do one better than VR46, and this is probably the reason why he did not want Valentino to get another, prompting that saga. But I think that Marc has matured and understood that he messed up. Some say he was punished for what he did. In any case, 2024 will be interesting if only for that.
  4. Their interface do more than just read and write the ECU, which is basically only writing to an EEPROM. Nothing really complicated. I would not think they pinched anything from Beard because Guareschi is a well known outfit, such as Bimota was. What I really like is that their interface is Bluetooth.
  5. UpMap is a way to customize your ECU. It is not really for us, older Moto Guzzi owners, but a saw that more than a few have other motorcycles, including Ducati. Guareschi proposes tailor made maps to suit your bike, and exhaust systems. https://store.up-map.it/en/3-maps I have sent them a request to find out if they were going to make the T-800 interface compatible with the V11 ECUs. Just for your information. At this time, it is not an alternative to Guzzi Diag for our V11.
  6. this Î To be frank, I have a hard time accepting his team would do anything like this without telling him. Because at the end of the day, he is the front of the outfit and could be banned. Moto America should sample the fuel of the podium bikes.
  7. Some pilots always seem to be very good at starting off the grid while others are not. Now Jake is more than often in the top three start positions, and that helps too.
  8. We were told by the site's administrator there is more latitude for deviations under this rubric "banter and what not". So Marquez is just as good as anything else to discuss MotoGP and your cookie recipe that you have been hiding from us for a long time...
  9. I was actually wondering what that photo of fluids had to do with the bike. Now I understand. With probably one exception, all the Quota I checked were in the 3000 USD price range. He is well "in the money". Although it is usually more difficult to sell a bike outside of the riding season, but here in Houston, we are in the 70's and it is actually quite nice to ride in these temperatures. My only reserve is the add-on windshield which does not do much for the esthetics. Even if it was removed, it would leave traces as you can clearly see he had to drill the dashboard and fairing to get it fitted. When he states: -"with parts and service available at local dealers"; I suppose he is referring to his neighboring zone. From what I understood of Craig's list, they recommend to only deal locally.
  10. The Boise one was actually adequate, the deal breaker were the lever bowl ends that were cut off. The brake lever was no biggie, but the clutch one was also including the "choke", so a bit more of an issue to source. The fueling had been corrected with a new map. But yes, "Black" is really not my favorite tint for a motorcycle. As for prices, for having missed on several Quota this year, I would say that motorcycles priced around 3k seem to be moving quickly; or at least, this statement verifies in Texas where the two I found one red, one black sold almost immediately. At this point, I am still very partial to the one owner 2016 Stelvio in Illinois. It has the burnt orange color that is acceptable, and they have reduced the price from 8500 to 8000. It is a single owner bike, and I would think they are going to dump the price at least another 500 soon.
  11. I purchased a welder's mask spare lens, and taped it to a piece of flat cardboard; unfortunately, the filtering changes the color, so I could not take pics through it. I thought about the effect it had back in the middle ages... yes, it would have been easy to scare people with the last judgement day!
  12. Indeed! all the shadows were distorted in very strange ways because of the moon... this was the first time I became aware of that.
  13. It does, doesn't it?
  14. The add says USD 3100, possibly a price adjustment from when you found the add initially... even at 3100 it is more than palatable. There is a 2013 Stelvio in Denver for USD 6000, orange so I could kill two birds with only one stone? I thought I was out of the Quota market, but of the Red at the same effect as on a bull. I need to speak to the guys at MPH again. When I told them about my attention to purchase a Quota, Mike suggested I don't. I also like the guy's add, not the usual minimum poor wording. In any case, I am going to check it out. Thanks!
  15. I know, I should be... the people at Iron Supply Powersports have been trying to convince me to get a Triumph Tiger GT Explorer since I told them I was looking for a Stelvio and a Quota. But I really like the older motorcycles, and I feel a lot of affinity with the 1200 NTX....
  16. If it is proven that Moto America Yamaha team used an illegal fuel, they should be disqualified. I remember some fuel issues in F1 back in the days. I can't remember what it was off the top of my head, but trying to cheat the rules is not new. I also remember Femke van den Driessche, a Belgian cyclist who had an electrical motor hidden in the frame of her bicycle. The cylindrical motor was inside the seat tube, and directly drove the crankshaft completely hidden from the view. It could be activated via wireless. As ever, she was not aware of the contraption stating she had borrowed the bike from a friend. It is sad if the Moto America Yamaha team used illegal fuel. It would ruin Jake Gagné's efforts and may also affect his reputation. Even if he claims that he was unaware of it.
  17. The perfect annular view was only possible from San Antonio TX.... The photo below shows the sun rays shadowed by the moon as they reflect on the ground. Really amazing!
  18. In all fairness, I don't think any of the newer model motorcycles can beat the feeling of riding an older one. Hence, the reason why some manufacturers are producing modern motorcycles based on the older looking ones. The Kawasaki 900 being one example. IMHO, the 1200 Stelvio has more appeal than the V85TT...
  19. This is the second time that I read about the heated grips not being "hot enough" even on the higher setting. I would probably not be able to judge since I have never had a motorcycle with heated grips. Mind you, here in Texas, they are not completely necessary, save for the few days when we have below 0/32 degrees, and not even every year. To me, the windscreen is almost essential because of the gusty winds you often find in west Texas. While you can wear earplugs to alleviate the noise, depending on wind direction, it may be physically tiring on the neck muscles. I know that being able to tuck myself behind the Le Mans fairing really alleviate the problem. I have now seen many Stelvio with the stock screen replaced by a California Scientific, which offers a better protection for those of us taller.
  20. These "junk fees" are not usually seen on car sales. It is a way for companies to hide the true cost of their services. I am sure you have heard about the so-called "resort" fee that hotels are charging. It initiated in Las Vegas, but has now spread to many other hotels. Basically, if you are looking at booking a room, you will be presented with a room price, but at check out time, after you have spent time to compile the compulsory information they now want you to enter, then, and only then, they show you the additional fees. It makes it hard for you to be able to make an educated choice, because they don't tell you what the final cost will be until the very last moment in the transaction. They are very creative with the labeling of these fees; in Las Vegas, the "resort fee" includes access to the hotel amenities, even if you are not using them or if they should be included in the room price. Then the convenience fees, handling fees such as when you pay for parking in Houston, using your phone. Paying with your phone incurs a "convenience" fee, even if the Parking company does not offer any other way to pay so you have no choice. Anyway, the worse are the "tips" which have completely gotten out of control since "SQUARE" has replaced the cash registers.
  21. Thank god, motorcycles will never be able to reach the same level of nonsense as cars!!!! Although I heard that BMW has abandoned the accessories that are subscription activated, such as the heated seats, I think many cars have features that require monthly installments to become available. The feeding frenzy has no limit. That and the junk"fees" everywhere. I don't know if you have them in Europe, I don't think you do, or if you have, not as much as here.
  22. My V11 Le Mans is also "red". Not certain it is 10% faster than non red ones????
  23. I really like the livrée of this V85 TT; possibly the next best thing to a 1200 Stelvio; what I don't get, is why it can't be had in the new "Travel" version which is exclusively sold in "grey"? I suppose you can purchase the accessories separately.
  24. Something came to mind.... Adult movies were soft named "X" movies to avoid making it to obvious. This theater specialized in "X" films. But in Amsterdam the "X" zone was named the "red" district. Probably because of the way the windows were red lit. So the X almost covers everything. My "sobriquet", P6x also has an "X" since my last name is difficult to pronounce I guess...
  25. The "X" branding seems to be on the rise nowadays... Ducati DesertX, Moto Morini X-cape, Honda had already used the X before in many of their models such as XL, Yamaha with XT, we also have X pro motorcycles. I don't get it; what does X means in marketing recently? (not talking about the social media formerly named Twitter, not talking about replacing the "X" sound such as Xite for "Exciting", but the X moniker in model names that feels like a new norm.
