  1. I don't know if many have watched the talk show, but if they did at least for the frst few seconds, then hopefully they will now know how to say Guzzi the right way!!!!
  2. After several days of riding, I am happy to report the tachometer works like new, looks like new, and is steady at all sustained rpm; the speedometer is a bit fluctuating at low speed, which I am guessing is due to the cable not turning smoothly in its sheath. As soon as speed goes above 20 mph, the phenomenum stops. So far, I am very happy with the Quota. Of course, it is not as smooth as the V11. It is really jerky in 1st gear. The autonomy seems to be better than when I came back from Arizona. But that needs to be confirmed. I managed 47 mpg to and from Brenham.
  3. This thing...
  4. Therefore, he lives on for ever... Unless something major happens and Piaggio liquidates the Moto Guzzi Museum...
  5. @docc did you notice the Dr John Guzzi towards the end of the visit of the Museum? is it his signature on the bike?
  6. I do it all the time... the "pas" or "pitch" in English for a Metric thread is measured between two pitch either dip or tops. As it is clearly said, a screw is characterized by its external diameter and its pitch. M10 has either 1mm or 1.25mm. Using a graduated ruler on the screw that goes inside the banjo, you can determine the pitch. Now explain to me what would be very difficult, so I can laugh too...
  7. I could only see one Quota at 29'30. People from all over Europe. You can easily recognize the UK and German tags. They are so large!
  8. Maybe the owner has kept it in running state?
  9. You know that you can use a ruler to measure the distance between the top of two threads? 1 mm should be quite easy. The screw threads into a softer material, so it makes perfect sense to have a fine pitch.
  10. Not as much as you think... I have met one guy salivating in front of the Elvis Bonneville, telling me he would have bought it, just to keep it. Could not because he just had purchased an Indian FTR. Then there are all the Panigale which have been ridden by the MotoGP "Crème de la Crème" during the Ducati event. All those are probably never going to see the light of the day ever. Just out of curiosity, what do you do to resuscitate a 1993 Daytona that only ever did 11 miles? put oil, gas, brake fluid, battery and off you go?
  11. Why not? What about eBay motors? you can set a reserve so you get minimum what your ask price is. Your price is right! I have checked my usual reference: check that link below; https://www.moto.it/moto-usate/ricerca?brand=moto-guzzi&model=moto-guzzi%2Fdaytona-1000&region=&kw= I am glad that I don't have any room for a third motorcycle, let alone two. That saves me from purchasing it! but I am not a collector. I would ride it relentlessly!
  12. True! I should start unloading them, I basically only play one nowadays. But I have missed the opportunity now.
  13. I did not even know what Guzziology was about. Thanks for educating me!
  14. I did the Graceland tour in Memphis. I also went to the Sun Studio which allegedly turned his life around. I took the tour because I was in Memphis to visit the Gibson Guitars factory before its closing in 2019. It seems that every celebrity has to be tempted by chemicals for whatever reason. Michael Jackson and propofol, Prince and Fentanyl, so many more. Ah, maybe I am just as bad with my addiction to Moto Guzzi though....
  15. Not finishing the race for running out of gas must have been very frustrating indeed! even more when it never happened before in all the practices. 33rd out of 37 in qualifying is respectable. What does "FCR" stands for?
  16. There is a lot of technical material on this forum; depending on your level, you may not completely understand it. It requires a minimum understanding of some of the basics of tuning indirect injection systems. It is not overly complicated, but some of us have never really done anything mechanical. It is just how it is today. Similar to handwriting. If you have never done anything like this before, you maybe know someone that did? As @po18guy stated, do you have all the necessary hardware and software to start the task?
  17. Always sad when someone leaves...
  18. It's good. Because it really feels like we are a dying breed...
  19. The older motorcycles are going to slowly but surely go away, unfortunately. Most of the guys riding them are passionate, and most likely want to ride a V11 by choice. The "younger" riders are probably more interested in bikes that are more modern, and have fewer flaws or require less effort to maintain. I am thinking that because of the lack of options for maintaining an older bike, some may just pass on. Especially when you are getting older, physically, it is really difficult.
  20. I agree with you. I have to come back on my previous statement that Marc Marquez would be doing the "arbitrage" between Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin. When you look at the last two GP, Aragon and Misano, Marc Marquez becomes untouchable as soon as the track condition are complicated. In Aragon, the asphalt was terrible after the two showers on Friday and Saturday night. In Misano, the rain during the race demonstrated that our two major protagonists can't fare up to Marc Marquez. Bagnaia admitted that he could not keep Marc's pace. After the next Misano GP, the caravan embarks for the offshore dates, and there, anything can happen in terms of weather. If any of these poor conditions are met, my money is on Marc Marquez to be able to reel in the two top Ducatisti. 53 points difference with Jorge Martin and 7 more GP left, Marc can easily come back.
  21. Sure! I may go to the Panhandle this weekend, to complete my 2024 Motorcycle Texas tour, depending on the weather. I don't want to ride under the rain with terrain tires. I am planning to stay at the Big Texan in Amarillo. I am not going to take the 72 ounces steak challenge, but I will certainly sample their BBQ. Actually, we could go to Brenham and have a meal at either Pioneer or Truth BBQ. Truth is a very popular spot; I usually favor Pioneer because it is family owned and run.
  22. Well, I have noticed that we are all getting heavier quickly, so if you have one of these passengers, you certainly don't want the rear tire to wear out prematurely, don't you?
