  1. No surprise there as Moto Guzzi had officially shown a "Coming Soon" landscape ideal showcase an adventure bike. The Moto Guzzi V85TT is Guzzi's best selling motorcycle; it makes a lot of sense. The Stelvio would be my number one choice if I had room. Not the the V100; the 1200 Stelvio NTX. I want my cylinders air cooled.
  2. You live very close to the dealership.... one hundred meters or was it 160 km?
  3. Fantic used to have a 50cc model named Caballero. I was closing on 14 years old, and I was looking for my first mopped. I ended purchasing a Gitane Testi Champion Super; orange. Powered by a Motori Minarelli, six speeds. I kept it exactly 14 days before it was stolen. It was too good looking I guess. Insurance reimbursed the full price, but I went for something less shiny. Fantic had been one brand I looked at before settling on the Testi.
  4. The infamous injection misses around the 3000 rpm is a never ending topic which has multiple threads in all the V11 Guzzi forums. Supposedly cured with a map change, or a proper tune-in. I wished mine did not do it, and I took all the steps to attempt to mitigate the problem. However, I can't get Guzzi Diag to communicate with the interface. This perfectible injection is annoying the perfectionists that live in all of us Guzzi V11 lovers. But I am going to keep going until i finish the susmentioned 50 stops. Then I am going to look for my Unix manuals, and open that communication port using the Terminal window on my Mac. During my oilfield days, our applications ran on Unix, so I should be able to sort it. Till then, I will continue to accept the rebukes from the V11 to run around 3000 rpm, which is, just by luck, the most often used engine regime. Ha!
  5. I have resolved all the problems.... so far. It starts when I need it to, and nothing else is wrong if excepted the engine sneezes below 3000 rpm when the outside temperature is Texas standard. The few earlier rides I did in April and March while temperatures were in the 50's and 60's, I had zero coughs. My next ride will be the Frio Canyon loop. I am looking forward to the Marfa loop though. I am going to try to take some pics of the Le Mans underneath the stellar skies of the Chihuahua desrt.
  6. Updated today, 03-May-2023 for my 6 stops ride in Eastern Texas; Please refer to the May 1st in the OP. Riding 644 miles in a single day, 10 hours 36 minutes of riding time is not too strenuous. I wear the SIXS padded boxer shorts that considerably alleviate the back side hurt. The major pain comes from the shoulders (the day after), and the legs being too folded because of the foot pegs position. I don't eat while I ride, so I don't fall asleep.
  7. In Europe, your vehicle is supposed to be in compliance according of its year of certification. I believe it is the same here in Texas. My 2004 V11 must satisfy to whatever emissions regulation Texas enacted in 2004. I think don't know if there are any, but I have so far never had an issue. To make the V11 EURO 3 compliant, EURO 3 issued in 2000, Guzzi played with the injection map to pass the emission test. When EURO 4 directives were published, January 2005, for January 2006 certification, Moto Guzzi stopped the V11 line. I think people said it would have been too costly to make the V11 compliant to EURO 3. But then they came up with the 1200 4 valves.
  8. I have been an expatriate for the greatest part of my life. I lived about everywhere in the world. I learned to not fear what I am not familiar with; of course, today's global world has brought a lot of scams from people looking to make a few bucks. I regularly purchase items from outside the USA; that includes eBay. As far as searching for rare items, using VPN software, I set my locale in the country where I am searching, and I use the language of the place. This is what happened with Facebook. I used Italian keywords. Obviously, we have come a long way from the language barrier. But if I set myself in Italy and search in Italian, I get hits that I don't necessarily get with those key words in English. I also omit some of the obvious key words such as V11, because those search engines work for those who pay the most, and you end up getting hits that lead to nothing. Maybe with AI chats the problem will be solved. I have made a few attempts with Google BARD, such as making basic searches for V11. For example, I ask BARD to give me a list of active Moto Guzzi Forums, and at the time, it declined. I think that sooner than later, those AI chats will be able to find everything. Somehow, I don't think it is going to be for the best.
  9. Inspired by today's post about Odyssey Batteries in a different thread; this brought back this song, from.... Odyssey

  14. Some of us may remember; in 1978, Van Halen released their first album. The Eruption piece really blew the minds of all aspiring guitar players. 40 years later, an Australian band decided to celebrate this master moment by playing the album live, as you would have listened to the record. The guitarist, Simon Hosford really steps up to the spirit!
  15. I just checked VOOM, and their cheapest plan is 22 USD monthly, based on 5,000 miles per year... Since I do more than 5,000 miles, it is not advantageous to me.
  16. Each state has its own requirements; in Texas, you are required to have insurance, and they check that you have it during the annual state inspection. However, I know for a fact that many drivers do not have insurance. There are Insurance Companies with very low premiums, generally they are just providing the driver with a proof of insurance, but practically zero coverage. However in the USA, or at least in Texas, I would not recommend to get the cheapest insurance possible. I know a lot of people who have had their car damaged by people who have run away. If you don't have full coverage, it may be costly. Also, in the USA you have these lawyers who specializes in car accidents. My insurance covers lawsuits to a certain extent. You want to have that too. I am sure you have heard about those frivolous lawsuits before.
  17. Idem for me; my motorcycle insurance is 12 months term, paid in one installment. My car is 6 months policy. I am thinking they think that we can't multiply by 2 to get the annual cost? I heard of VOOM but have not yet checked them seriously. Supposedly a "pay per mile" insurance for motorcycles. As we all have multiple vehicles, and needing multiple insurances when we can only drive one vehicle at any time, paying only for what you drive seems to be a good deal. Obviously, the T&C needs to be sifted. My previous insurance company was Farmers. They have an option when you can put your vehicle in "storage", for which they only cover the possible fire or static damage. This was a very good deal, but my current insurance does not propose it.
  18. I was expecting something along the lines of Samuel Jackson in Pulp Fiction... you know, after they escape with their lives in the initial apartment encounter... just kidding.... but it was really a close call; What I don't understand, is why Brembo does not figure out a system to prevent that issue which has now happened plenty of times. I am thinking about a choke system, which only works in one direction. The hydraulic braking fluid is free to flow to the piston, but is slightly metered in the opposite direction. Not sufficiently to impede brake release, but in cases like a violent front shaking, at least the pistons are not backed out. What do you think?
  19. Leo Vince is mainstream in Europe. They are reliable even if less known than Akrapovič. Akrapovič being one of the main provider of the MotoGP, they are generally more expensive. 3,500 USD is like a gift.
  20. I think he should realize that 18 years of professional racing experience cannot compete with 18 years of professional couch assessment. Kidding aside, he did provide a truth that many professional couch viewers don't know. The front shake moving your caliper pistons leaving you with no brakes at first. You need to pump them to regain braking. That he did not broadside either Gagné or Beaubier was a miracle.... he should recognize that.
  21. I use TripLog. I no longer record my trips with it; only the fuel consumption. It is free of charge in the "lite" version.
  22. Completed 6 stops of the 2023 Motorcycle Tour of Texas: As reported herewith: the update is below the overall map of all the stops.
  23. Maybe riding in Massachusetts is safer? I got a merit decrease too; like you, less than 10 dollars. Peanuts!
  24. No reply! It seems those companies providing an email for inquiries are no longer monitoring them.
  25. Ha! I would have thought Tenni Grün... but there again!
