Triumph Speed RR versus Ducati Panigale V2?
p6x replied to p6x's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Maybe you remember the times when batteries were not maintenance free? You could use density to check the acid, testing each element, and adding distilled water as needed. The battery on my Ford died surreptitiously and bricked the car's ECU! obviously out of warranty. I could not even replace the battery myself, because the ECU needed to be reprogrammed. Not only did I need to purchase a new battery after less than three years, but had to also pay for the ECU programming. Did you know they have a special charge each time they "connect" to the ECU? this connect charge covers the cost of computing equipment, software maintenance, interfaces and technician. Plus the labor cost of course. It is only 20 USD for the "connect", but still.... -
@FreyZI Have you thought about setting up a payment scheme for when the time comes? I would suggest that you stay out of it if you can, and provide a link to the manufacturer's so we can send our contribution directly when the times come? or is it all going through you? either way is fine with me. I suggest you add a column to the sheet showing the payment price expected versus the status and date paid. Since we are at it, maybe a date shipped too. Just an idea, nothing that is absolutely required.

[SOLD] 2003 MotoGuzzi V11 Lemans (Southern California)
p6x replied to highway1am's topic in Personal Ads
Very nice bike! -
I could not watch the FP2 live, and the RTBF has not yet posted the replay. Most likely because they want home before the end of the session. Excepted for the KTMs, all the bikes seem to be competitive.

It is hard to believe that German engineers could let this one slip through the cracks. I still have a hard time believe that it was unintended. They must have known this bearing was not lubricated, and would become a failure prone part with time. One of the early sign your IMS bearing could be failing is a subdued oil leak from the back... now you understand why I wanted to get my 911 to the shop.

Back to COTA... Marc Marquez is here for the win. During FP1 he was not showing all his cards. Did not try the time attack, and still managed 5th at 0.4 from the top!!! Aprilia are still there, this time with Maverick. It looks like we are going to have a real race on Sunday, not a Marquez solo, or so I think.

Scary!

When you own a 911, and you have some kind of sputter coming from within the inside of the bell housing, you would not immediately think about using devilish additives.... There is a failure prone (so everyone says) bearing on the 996; I would rather not verify how good, or how bad this #1 fixer is...

Moto2 FP1 starts now 9:00 Tejas time.

It seems we have plenty to talk about! I am familiar with Punta del Este, since many Argentinians spend their vacation there. I like Uruguay, but I always preferred Carilo to spend time on the sand. I have lived in Argentina since 2003. I have an apartment in Belgrano. I was initially thinking to purchase at Puerto Madero, but I decided that only foreigners lived there, and I favored a place less "touristy". Argentina is a place I would really enjoy touring on my Guzzi; unfortunately, it is no longer as pleasant as it used to be. As for the 911, it is a costly hobby, and I am glad that I found a justification to part from it. As it is at Einer's, using the space for the Le Mans is so much more convenient. I can even make use of the central stand without any difficulty. It was that, or purchasing a house with a larger garage... Mike Haven said he does not work on Porsche. His atelier is full of BMW and Mercedes Benz, no Porsche. Actually, the leak is more like an "anal" reaction. I wish I was different, but even a few drops of oil ruin my life. I like perfection. Of course Einer found many other things wrong with the car. I am replacing the four shocks too, thus wheel alignment, since they are dropping the power train, it is a good opportunity to do some preventive maintenance. The quotation says that I am going to lay away twice the purchase price of the Guzzi.... Don't know Lockhart, but I have had it with those BBQ pits who have lines that form from 8:00 on week-ends. I think the Texas Monthly should make a list of the "unknown" Texas style barbecues. On a very sad note, I have been unable to find any Bluebonnets this year.... do you have a tip? I went to Brenham, Chapel Hill, looked at the usual places... nada!

I went down to check it was not mine.... He has a cowl around the sump, looks nice! @FuelCoolerhere's your chance to own a mythical "Le Mans", red as it should too.... And, cherry on top, located next to you...

Ghezzi-Brian ECU for the V11 - anyone knows "Centraline Rapid-Bike"?
p6x replied to p6x's topic in Technical Topics
I discarded warranty because all our V11 are now past their coverage. What makes sense is sales perspective which probably don't amount to much. So why spend a bunch of money to manufacture drop in place replacement ECU when you are unlikely to sell any significant number? I think I am going to stick to what everyone else does. Now that I have solved my starter problem, I can live a little longer with a perfectible injection. -
Red to match V11 Le Mans? :-) my S2000 is with a really passionate guy....

I would be the happiest guy in the world if I had. Understanding a file format is easy. I am still not getting why they would make an additional ECU to correct the stock one, instead of making just a drop in replacement. This is something I can't wrap my head around. If we were talking about a new model, warranty would be an issue. What is the reason they have an add-on rather than a replacement? is it a commercial decision? the same unit can be used for many different motorcycle, just need to modify the in and out ports? Anyway, I guess Ghezzi-Bran does not even have the answer. -
@KINDOY2 why? Alex and Marc, Pol and Aleix, Valentino and Lucas?

Triumph Speed RR versus Ducati Panigale V2?
p6x replied to p6x's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
A true sports car and a true money pit. I know; when you love, you do not count.... The car is with Einar and just to fix that small oil ooze, it is going to be as much as purchasing my Guzzi Le Mans last year.... I need to change the four shock absorbers too. The four of them are leaking oil through the piston. The rebound dampening is affected. If feels like when you go to the dentist for a simple cleaning lol.... they always found a bunch of other problems... -
@FreyZI would you care to make a list of the takers using google sheet on google drive? share it, so we can follow-up easily, and other interested party can also put their names in the list directly. All you have to do is to take a screen shot of the list and post it as an image here, so we know where we stand? I think you have one more taker for the red, yes?

I would not be surprised if Marc Marquez is strong in COTA, at least on race day if not in practice. FP1 will be used to make an assessment and check how everything works under real stress. Even if he has been out less time than before, we all know that to remain at the top of your game, you need to practice as much as possible doing the real thing. Missing Indonesia and Argentina will have had an effect on him. I don't think he is resuming just to say "I am back". Knowing MM93, he is coming back to win; especially here. I have seen a lot of VR46 haberdashery at Thermas de los Hondos. The venue is extremely popular with not only Argentina, but all the surrounding countries, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile. I don't know if you remember that Rossi wore the Maradona/Messi #10 Jersey on the podium. There, it makes you a lot of friends! nevertheless, the Rossi mania is going to fade away as it is right it does. The show will go on. Look at the current stats: three grand prix, three different winners and podium occupants.... isn't that great? We are voting to elect the president this week-end, I usually help the consulate. I will watch FP1 and FP2 live though. On a sad note, I got the diagnostic for my problem from Einar's this morning. It's coming from behind the bell housing; things have gotten so expensive!!! they need to drop the engine. It is going to cost more than my Guzzi...

Riding Breeches / Riding Jeans?
p6x replied to LowRyter's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
I am late to the thread: I always wear motorcycle proof (read fall forgiving) pants. I have purchased Alpinestar jeans including knee and hip protection. I considered cargo pants sand colored because the jeans are stuffy in the Texas heat. The Alpinestar jeans are slightly elastic, making them easier to close when you indulge too much in brisket like I do. I used to wear non motorcycle jeans back when my hands did not shake. I did take a fall and I slid on a rugged surface that turned my backside into raw ground beef. After that I always wore pants that would resist abrasion. -

@Lucky Phil the reason why I seem to insist in calling the "bin" file a map, is because a "bin" file is an extension as in .bin defining a file format. Not its contents. Map is what is used in many other languages too. It is a firmware in the IT world, used by the ECU. Just to clarify my attachment (pun) to call it an ECU map? so I don't try to upload any unrelated ".bin" file; Epson Fuji Reala 100.bin Epson Agfa HDC Plus 100.bin Epson Kodak Tri-X 400 6x6.bin Epson Kodak Portra 400.bin Epson Mitsubishi MX-III 200.bin Epson Ferrania FG 400.bin Epson Konica Centuria 400.bin Epson Kodak Supra 100.bin Epson Kodak Royal Gold 400.bin Epson Konica VX 100.bin Epson Fuji Pro 160.bin Epson Kodak Portra 160 NC 6x6.bin Epson Fuji Superia 100 6x6.bin Epson Kodak Plus-X 125.bin Epson Ilford Delta 400 6x6.bin Epson Kodak T-Max 400.bin Epson Fotolabo Club 100.bin Epson Boots 100.bin Epson Fuji Nexia A200 APS.bin Epson Ferrania HP 200 APS.bin Epson Agfa Optima Prestige 100.bin Epson Agfa Optima II Prestige 100.bin -
@PJPR01 Marc Marquez will be at COTA this week-end. If he is your favorite "horse", then you will have the opportunity to see him race! Personally, I think it makes sense for him to return here. This is clearly the best place for him to come back. Now the question that everyone has: can he dominate the way he has on this track? we will need to verify that.
-
According to Spanish newspapers, Marc Marquez is riding a Honda 600 to understand where he stands with physical conditions. We will probably know today if he is going to ride this week-end at COTA. I feel that he will. I don't know why.

I started to watch. Interesting the episode 2 with the brothers in GP...
