  1. I totally agree. In life, I don't like to force things to happen. If things line up, and "click", then it is an indication in my mind that it was meant to be. There are always other bikes. Really want a V11 though, not going to lie. However, it has to be the right one. The hunt continues...
  2. Could see the writing on the wall some time ago...air-cooling is on the way out, sadly. Even more reason for me to snag a V11!
  3. What a sexy LeMans.
  4. Looks like it doesn't matter. Bike was sold out from under me to a local gent. I also didn't get the VIN, or a video of the bike running, so...
  5. That's a great deal for a complete new rear caliper!
  6. A damned fine answer, p6x. Thank you. He's not firm on price, and was given the V11. He also is of very short inseam so can barely ride it. I have two potential V11s on the line, this is the one out of state. We'll see how things go. Wire transfer with escrow sounds like my best bet to protect both parties if I can work out the details with the seller. Won't do anything until he sends me a VIN and photos of the title in his name. Thank you again, p6x. You are awesome.
  7. Thank you, Fotoguzzi. I think I will go with escrow if we can work out the details...
  8. This looked to be the closest "correct" forum for my question. I'm looking at a V11 Sport several states away, and once I get the VIN and make sure it isn't stolen/wrecked/salvage, I'd like to know how I can pay the man? I've purchased a motorcycle through eBay before, so it wasn't such a big deal (buyer protection), but this is a private seller. Shipping is under $600.00 from his place to my garage, so this is doable. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. -VTS
  9. I mean look where Honda and Ducati started...and look at them now. You never know!

No worries, David. I just want to get my V11 before the NH winter (of which you are well aware). Ideally, I want everything you have---especially the MAGNI fairing. I want the maint. records, all the parts. All of it. PM me when you are ready. If they can't figure out the brakes, I can. I just need a quick start and brief ride and the cash will be in your hands. Worst case, I can drop it off at Seacoast Sport in Derry, NH, but I think I can get it sorted, even if it takes me until Spring '22 to get it all sorted. I'm a serious buyer and not wanting to waste your time. Thank you, -Tony

Really wanting that V11, David. lol If you just want to wash your hands of it, I can take it off your hands. I wrench and have no life. This is totally the bike for me. lol I'm looking at one in Michigan also, but I'd rather buy local and not on faith. Let me know what shop it is at so I can go take a look at it. Thank you.
  12. A shame they didn't stick with it. After all, don't our French friends often say "viva le difference!"? I heard of Pugeot or Voxan...that's it.
  13. What an abortion.
  14. I don't think it is that close, but we are edging into that territory, yes. I think in 50+ years, ICE vehicles will only be owned and operated by the ultra rich and politically-connected types. I would also argue another possibility: Regular not-uber-wealthy enthusiasts, like you and I, find hacks/workarounds. But yes, seems TPTB want to take the fun and autonomy out of the human experience. Gotta enjoy our machines and lives while fate allows us. /end rant/
  15. Probably spot-on. Can always buy the entire caliper, though. I have another factor that may also be partially to blame: planned obsolescence. I'm reading a book now called "The Waste Makers" by Vance Packard. Interesting things...Drive consumption and control the serviceability, parts supply at all costs...to force the consumer to buy another new item out of frustration. They stop making components for a particular motorcycle, the consumer then becomes a new customer again, with or without their consent. Makes you think.
  16. I prefer Italian and British cars...kind of like my motorcycles. Not a lot of French motorcycle companies (still) around. I always wondered why that was. Germany, Italy, USA, Japan (of course), even Korea and Austria have motorcycles that are sold in numbers worthy of note. The French? Not so much. A lot of great engineers in France, makes me wonder why.
  17. I more appreciate Renault (R5 Turbo, Alpine A110, especially), Matra Djet, if we are talking French cars...
  18. You made the right choice. M1100 is awesome, too. But that Guzzi...nice.
  19. I'm a Ducati man, but I can love both Guzzis and Ducatis. They both offer so much over the more, erm, "obvious" brands.
  20. I'm only picky about miles and condition/service history. I'd love a champagne LeMans or "greenie" V11, but color doesn't matter... except red. I already have two red motorcycles...and one red car. No more red. I'm understanding more and more the appeal and soul of the V twin Guzzis, especially the big blocks. These bikes really are something special!
  21. Tried and gave up looking for a clean Fiat X 1/9 when 90% of the nice ones were...wait for it...in the Netherlands. I said "screw this!", now I'm looking for a V11 instead. At least I can locate one of those stateside!
  22. Yes, my unicorn, my crown jewel, my '98 900SSFE. Best motorcycle I've ever had the pleasure of riding...and I've been on everything but a Britten or Vincent. But the 900SS, what obtainable exotica! I'd attach photos, but I've nothing only 200KB in size! I've no doubt the V11 is worth the wait! But waiting is always the hardest part, isn't it?
  23. Yes, I understand she's a big girl and needs plenty of room to slow down. lol
  24. Now that you say this---I've also found this to be true! No idea why that is. When I need some obscure NLA part, it almost always comes from the UK, Netherlands, or rarely, Italy. I'm grateful someone has been stockpiling these goodies for us!
  25. Thank you, GStallions! I can't wait to join the club of Guzzi riders once I find my machine. The V11 really is so charismatic. The day of ownership can't arrive soon enough!
